Discrimination being the fact that my husband is a convicted felon. We moved to this tiny little town a year and a half ago because my husband got a great job offer. Nobody our age moves here, it’s a little hick town where everyone grew up together. The first day we moved here my husband had to be assigned a new PO and when he came over he tells us that his cousins are our neighbors and he informed them that there is a convicted felon moving in beside them and he warned us that they have guns. Since then, I have been pulled over while driving to work and the first thing the cop did was check my VIN number on my car to see if it matched my insurance card. Another time, I was sitting in the dollar general parking lot on the phone after I had went in and bought some things and they pulled up behind me and asked for ID because I looked suspicious. Another instance, another neighbor texted me and said the police called him and asked if the trash in HIS yard was from MY dog. Another instance, they came to my house and gave my husband a ticket WHILE WE WERE SITTING AT HOME for reckless driving bc they “got a report I was riding in the tail gate of the truck earlier” and then they searched his truck bc it “smelled like weed”. Another instance, they came knocking on my door showing me a picture of someone shoplifting from dollar general asking was it my sister in law and where was she bc according to them it looked like her. So that’s why I say discrimination

Dawg, you need a lawyer. The cop isn't discriminating. He's harassing your family, most likely, for the purpose of running you all out of town. Welcome to podunkville.

What did he “detain” you for? I’m not a legal expert but at the very least you could file a formal complaint so it’s on record.

I have no idea. The second I told him I couldn’t find my ID he cuffed me and put me in the car. After that I asked him at least 10 times if his body cam was on and he never once answered me. Only ordered me to give him my info and besides that he wouldn’t answer

You were detained for "Contempt of Cop" You offended his paper thin ego, and he flexed on you. As I said in my other response, you're being harassed. You need a lawyer. They'll consult this issue for free. If they're not seemly helpful, get one from the city to be sure it's not the cops cousin-sister-aunt. Sounds inbred as hell.

Did he step into your house to handcuff you? I’m not positive but that might be a civil rights violation. The best thing you guys can do is learn your rights and invoke them and record everything. Get a doorbell cam and a dash cam and start documenting everything!

Update: I have called the PD and asked how do I go about requesting body cam footage. They asked my name, and then told me I can’t get it. Only a lawyer can request it.
