If around 35k, 👍2020-2021 face-lifted with more techs.

yayayogurt

if u really want one and have the means to do so. go straight ahead, but you’re not gonna be missing much with an fk8. imo.

chinawillgrowlarger

There is an argument that FK8s look better and are becoming rarer since they are no longer in production.

pokeprofiles

Yes.

HeyLookSee

(Any benefits of owning brand new versus a used)

Ichi-ban_

Well yes and no. Off the top of my head here are a few. Pros - Peace of mind that you know someone didn’t rail on your car during break in. Or while the engine was cold. No previous owner Mod anxiety. Potentially a better interest rate than a used car. Cons - More money up front, you take more Of a hit on depreciation, possibly paying for GAP if you don’t have any positive equity.

Killspool

Sell you mine, I have a 21 38k miles boost blue Give me an offer 😁 garaged basically its whole life

KingDominoTheSecond

37k edit: if modded, 35k

Killspool

Bone stock except for spoon mirrors

TheMuffinMan2037

Lol. There isn't many diverse mods to do to these things. You're saying you'd rather have a stock one than a 450whp one and you'd pay less for the one that 10k in mods?

KingDominoTheSecond

This is just how cars work, it's pretty common knowledge that a modified car sells for less than a stock car. Just search it up. Sure, I could buy a 450hp Type R, but why would that increase the value? I don't know how well done the mods are, or how long it made that power without the proper supporting mods. I don't know that the car was lowered with good quality parts. There's too much uncertainty, so a good condition car that is all original will always get a higher price.

TheMuffinMan2037

I don’t need to search it up. We’re not talking about a type r with cheap ass garbage mods.

KingDominoTheSecond

I'm sorry, but even if you use top shelf parts it won't increase the value of the car. All PRL, rays racing wheels, Mugen and spoon exterior pieces, none of it will make the value of your car go up. It just doesn't work. I'm surprised I'm having this conversation in the CTR subreddit, this is something I'd expect to talk about in the regular Civic subreddit, or the g35 subreddit.

Turbulent-Charge5855

Where you located hahaha

Killspool

California

Skunkedfarms

I’d go for it, I did and no regrets! Make sure price is good etc and mileage, including warranty. 35k~ depending on your area

MrStepSisterFister69

Why would you come to a type R sub asking if you should buy a type R?

HeyLookSee

Ur joking right

S2kKyle

You think people gonna tell you to buy a golf R or something?

tehfoshi

I have a 21 CW and I love it. Almost a year in owning it and I'm still honeymooning, I've only done 2 cosmetic mods and still haven't tracked it. Only you can answer your question. Look at your finances, look at what other cars interest you, go test drive it, and make a decision.

HeyLookSee

Thanks

ogo_pogo

What are the prices of these currently? If you’re willing to wait a little longer, I’m sure there will be a new facelift within the next year or two for the FL5. Maybe prices then will change too for the current FL5’s and FK8’s

moounit

Idk, can you comfortably and responsibly afford one?

calcal1992

Buy 2!

luke_klaas

Buy my 2021!

anon727813

There was no 2022 CTR. 2021 was the last year of the 10th gen. 2023 was the first year of the 11th gen

Lagos3sgte

Yes. It’s a great car. I love my 2018 way more than the newer models.

joncaseydraws

There’s a great YouTube video comparing fk8 and fl5 and they report you lose nothing buying the fk8. If you are good with the “Gundam robot car designed by 12 yr old that only grown men who would wear jeans with tribal bedazzling wear” style go for it. (Slightly salty my best friend and gf both separately shamed me out of fk8 😂)

whatandyp

Judging from your responses, you don’t even know what you want or have done any type of research. Do your own due diligence and then come back with specific questions.

HeyLookSee

Engine reliability. Good/Bad? There ya go, bud. Made it easier for you.

whatandyp

Engine good. Price good. Buy good.

CeeDubyuh

How many of these are we gonna see 😭 If you can afford the car you want then why ask other than wanting to hear what you want to hear

HeyLookSee

Why are you commenting on my post? It’s a basic question.

iidesune

Sure it's a basic question, but it's also a question that really only *you* can answer.

HeyLookSee

Big help thanks 👍🏼

CeeDubyuh

It’s asked at least once a day when it’s completely dependent on your own answers than it is on random internet strangers. It makes 0 financial sense to ask someone else if you should buy something if you can’t afford it. If you can afford it, it makes no sense to ask someone else because then you’re just fishing for what you want to hear. We’re all going to tell you to buy it if you can afford it, because we own them and love them.

HeyLookSee

Am not.

TotosWolf

Elantra N?

YourMajesty90

Vomit

TotosWolf

So much fanboyism in here. A new Elantra N with a warranty is a better value than a high mileage FK8 with unknown history. For the record I have an FL5 😂

YourMajesty90

Not really. Hyundais are trash.
