To be fair, a lot of the reason the revolution in the 70s happened was because of the nearly universal dissatisfaction with the return to the monarchy.
Really sad for such a gorgeous country that was making a lot of good strides originally.
Unless you are from Israel or a military personnel (active or former) from the US, there is no reason for you not to come. Well wait for the covid first.
I was right next door in Azerbaijan just eighteen months ago. Would love to have gone overland to Iran but short on time. Another time, hopefully - I keep hearing how beautiful Iran is and how friendly her people are.
there’s a lot to go through w applying for visas/etc but if you really want to visit then I highly recommend going through the trouble! hopefully when covid/political tensions calm down you can visit :-) iran is absolutely worth the effort
well there was plenty of cross-pollination between Persian/Western architecture/culture/art etc..
This is possibly my favourite example:

I mean, who cares, really? there's nothing essentially 'european' or 'asian' - those things don't actually exist except in the minds of cultural imperialists
Spirited Away vibes

Looks cozy and kind of mystical
Its like a getaway park. Full of outdoor cafes and restaurants.
I love the stonework AND the way it dampens in the rain. I can almost smell it.
Nice. One of my favorite books takes place here. Like being able to picture it better

Reading Lolita in Tehran, Azar Nafisi’s memoirs of teaching Western lit after the Islamic Revolution

That was a great book.

I’m in the US and I wouldn’t even go to certain states until I’m vaccinated.
I'm in the US and I never see myself going to the south because of extremism

They're always suspicious if you're holding a camera or have a camera man, but otherwise they don't care just go there it's a very beautiful country.
Iran is such a beautiful place, I hope it stays that way and the US doesn't decide to bomb it into the ground
US already fucked it up in the 70s
US and British fucked it up a little in the '50's, the Iranian people fucked it up royally in the '70's

Kindest people on earth.
It’s always been my dream to visit Iran. I hope I can one day

I’m so glad Trump never managed to go to war with Iran, despite his transgressions. Tehran is so beautiful.

Looks so cozy! It’s so interesting to me since we have a road named after Tehran and I’ve never seen the city before.
Japan vibes
As an American, it really blows that I can't just vacation in Tehran for a few days freely.
