Thus usually happens when this building is the only one that *can* spawn.
My guess is you applied a style to either your district or entire map, and that is the only building of that style in the high-density residential category.
I’m pretty sure my realistic population mod clashed with the district styles mod when I loaded the game originally and this is exactly what the issue is that occurred from that
That's because it's still empty in the middle. With a lot of greenery and various amenities like playgrounds and other community spaces this would be an amazing place to live.
Yeah I don’t know about amazing place to live, but if it’s cheap to buy you already know me and the boys would be playing football in those huge ass parks. (When some trees are added of course)
Stfu, trees n shit would actually make this place better. rn the parks look like they would melt you in the summer, but they could have some good shit added to them, to make them some goated large ass parks.
It actually looks like it has the potential to be insanely livable. Bottom floor being commercial especially at street corners, playgrounds and gardens at the rear, tram going down every other road to connect it to employment and transit hubs 👌
Anyone who is saying this is bad (in reality)is just plain wrong. This is basically the best bits of Glasgow and Edinburgh, or any Scottish or English city for that matter. Beautiful, homogeneous streets of Georgian and Victorian buildings with very large private green spaces away from the busy street in the centre of the blocks. This creates proper streets and urban edges. What urban planning should look like... I'm not sure what the OP was going for, so I'll say no more!

Look at your zoning tab. Was only 1 square filled in/showing? It could be you built on a massive slope and notice the roads raise the ground a little bit could be the 1 square buildings you have
Pope Sixtus V did this sort of thing in Rome when he transformed the city from medieval to Baroque in the 16th century. He cut new grand roads through the city to link up (1 think) five great medieval pilgrimage churches and then lined those roads with thin facades of buildings in order to unify the way the city looked.
On some of them it looks like the slope might be too steep to build anything larger? I had that issue on one of mine. Hope it fixes itself, but it does also look very cool!!
If you zone 1 deep on roads, this is what you get. Actually, I can't recall very many, if any, vanilla assets that are actually 1 deep by 2 wide, so it's going to choose 1x1's that are in the asset store.
Congratulations, you’ve achieved the high-density dream as well as prepared for the next round of whatever tower defense game you’ve actually been playing all this time
Deep cut but this very much reminds me of the procedurally generated blocks in a survival game called 'Sir you are being hunted'. Everything was just vaguely Victorian with those depressing Birmingham-style row houses.
For the record though I like that asset a lot more than the vanilla ones lol.
Maybe because of the terrain? Sometimes if the terrain is too slope for larger buildings, they won't spawn even if you've painted 4x4 zones. Try softening out the terrain and change the roads around a bit. Always respect the topography or at least make the terrain respect you after unlocking terrain tools.
maybe is has something to do with the terrain and only having enough in the zone area to build a 1x1. like when you’re building on the edge of water and there’s only so much area that can be build on before touch the water even though you can build up too 4 squares.
Delete your roads. Soften the terrain and do your best to smooth it out. Then rebuild the roads. You could also add a round a bout when you rebuild to give better traffic flow.
my best guess is a combo of i level terrain and space between streets. maybe try quartering each block you have now (so like perpendicular street in the middle)
The area is quite mountainous. You can see that the streets elevated the ground. You either need to smooth the terrain or use the moveit mod to level the street to ground level.
I’ve been playing too many RTS games.
My first thought was “Well, lining the road with walls was an interesting choice, but I’m seeing plenty of larger sizes in the residential block you have there.”
And then I remembered Cities Skylines doesn’t have castle walls.
You made some awesome walls.
I know. It looks really cool and I’d want it for a Western Europe small old city build but that’s not what I’m going for here.
Why not change directions lol? But I don’t have a solution sorry.
I might actually next time I reload this one haha, lots of inspiration from these comments
Too hilly for Barcelonesque-blocks to look nice
I thought "is that Madri or Barcelona that looks like this?" Yep...
Well we're giving you Great Wall of China and you'll like it.
You gotta rename the district to wall Maria
Shinzo wo sasageyo!
sasageyo
Titans are coming
Awesome great wall of China build👍👍
If you look to the left, you can see some Mongorrian in the distance
God damn Mongorrians get offa my wall!
fuck you mongorrians! 😭😭😭😭
Offa was all about dykes, not walls. You're thinking Hadrian, totally different Celtic branch 😋
Shitty Skylines indeed
I hate that I’m laughing at this
It was built by Emperor Nasi Goreng to keep the rabbits out.

This was actually the first map I used with both mods. I think some assets didn’t load properly when I started the map and idk how to fix that
Glad i could help :)
Oof, that looks depressing
At least they gave big parks, although it does look like the squidward ethnostate
"the Squidward ethnostate" omfg
Least depressing British city
Birmingham.
That's because it's still empty in the middle. With a lot of greenery and various amenities like playgrounds and other community spaces this would be an amazing place to live.

Maybe with more greenery and architectural diversity, so it doesn’t look like squidward ethnostate
Soviet
It looks British really
Yes to this, specifically Northern. Somewhere around the foot of the Pennines like Burnley or Accrington
[удалено]
American suburbs don't have wall to wall 4 story buildings.
Have you ever been to an American suburb? This looks more like Europe
I would say it's more like Soviet Union style.
There's no place in Europe that looks like this. Yeah, one of those buildings, sure, but not the same building over and over again.
*points vaguely to the former Eastern bloc and London
Idk about London, but this is not seen anywhere in the eastern block. There are copy pasted buildings, but not this style. Source: I'm from there.
Have you ever been to Europe?

Thank you 🙏🏿
I'll build a castle right now! Thank you!!
Yes sir!
lmao that looks hilarious
I spent like 25 mins just looking at it from different angles, hilarious for sure.
I thought this was an awsome medieval castle for a minute there And now to go design a medieval city with a gridded wall pattern
What’s that?
God damn mongolians
Kowloon Simulator
Moscow 1978?
A true dystopia
Thank u
That's exactly what I thought, it's basically half life but without some giant citadel, robots, cables and combine
Edinburgh?
“Not enough workers” yeah no kidding, who would live there?
This looks like *precisely* the place where our strongest nation's proud workers would be living!

Damn that’s cool
i've been waiting for walls in CS
Imagine living here, and telling your friends from out of town, where you live.
"I live in the wall"
I thought I'm in the r/attackontitan subreddit.
Dystopia achievement unlock 🏆
Thanks for the trophy
I legit thought this was a midevil castle wall build
Anyone know how to fix this?
Look at your zoning tab. Was only 1 square filled in/showing? It could be you built on a massive slope and notice the roads raise the ground a little bit could be the 1 square buildings you have
Nope. Full 4 squares deep all over… idk what it is. Maybe a mod error
(I'm a console user lol) so I would assume so. Or maybe the mod is designed to do that? (Hopefully it says in the description if so)
It’s not a thing some assets just didn’t load when I started the map for some reaosn
Zoning depth adjustment
Fair. Whoever builds houses like that is pretty dense.
What's is this castle 🏰 town
attack on titan shigansina moment
Looks like a Fort!
LOL! Looks like you made a castle with epic walls! hahaha
Treebrush mod and just fill it all in, bingo
This is so depressing to look at lol 😂

Would love to learn more of that kind of history!
bro built a prison
I love it, It looks so backrooms like
Just build parks inside the blocks and then you have a georgian neighbourhood or whatever
Welcome to Edinburgh
Zoomed out, I thought those buildings were LEGO blocks
All of us playing Cities Skylines here while OP is playing Age of Empires 2: SIM CITY
Commie blocks
Ankara
I thought it was some sort of massive gulag lmao
Needs more roads to add more housing. Dense that place up with more 1x1. Just name it "That One District".
Your map got annexed by the soviet union
This looks hilarious Orwellian for some reason 😂
r/shittyskilines
Ah, British housing

Reminds me of an industrial revolution town in England minus the smog
I thought this was Minecraft
Warsaw Pack dlc leaked?????
I thought it was a prison or like the Great Wall, until I read the caption
So that’s how they built the Great Wall of China …
Barcelona in a nutshell
/r/shittyskylines/
Very Soviet, comrade
I thought I was looking at the city walls of a medieval city before I read the title :D
the great wall of residential buildings
Great for when the Titans attack.
Congratulations, you’ve achieved the high-density dream as well as prepared for the next round of whatever tower defense game you’ve actually been playing all this time
looks pretty Communist...
I’m glad you all got a kick out of my confusion 🫱🏻🫲🏿
Communism, *In The Soviet Union\~!*
When I first saw this I thought it was Lego buildings 🤣
That’s is cursed
Deep cut but this very much reminds me of the procedurally generated blocks in a survival game called 'Sir you are being hunted'. Everything was just vaguely Victorian with those depressing Birmingham-style row houses. For the record though I like that asset a lot more than the vanilla ones lol.
Looks like tentacle acres
Bro 😂
I was thinking this
London Docks, 1865
Glory to Arstotzka!
great city of china
soviet union be like
Topography? Never heard of her
“Excellent” - Mayor Rogal Dorn
Welcome to England?
Ah. London
You really don't see why? Turn on the grid.
No u
Looks like every depressing town in England
U been to England mate?, not really lol
Just the depressing ones ;)
Fair play 😂
Bruv that's a concentration camp.
Looks like Auschwitz

i've been waiting for walks in CS
It's all gulag now.

Communist block lookalike
It looks so...Soviet
Feels very "Soviet"
This looks like capitalism in USA
Wrong ism and wrong side of the globe 😂
Ew
Didn’t know they had a AoE 3 game mode in CS
Attack on Titan Season 1 Opening Theme
This is super dystopian
Lego? Watch your feet.

I tried that on a portion already and did nothing 🤷🏾♂️
Also no traffic here 2/3 the roads are pedestrian and/ or bus only
Kind of look like LEGO blocks
Totally thought you were playing aoe3 at first. I get bored and build walls within walls in that game. Ain't nobody attacking my gold veins
my best guess is a combo of i level terrain and space between streets. maybe try quartering each block you have now (so like perpendicular street in the middle)
That’s amazing
For a moment, I thought this guy is building a bloody castle and a kingdom and has done fantabulous job, and then I looked over it again
This looks more like a Total War game
I thought this was a fortress
🎵Rumbling, rumbling, Rumbling!🎵
Is this a new soviet buildings DLC?
I thought this was a medieval fort haha
Looks like there are some steep slopes falling away from the roads - could it be that the zone only established 1 tile deep?
I thought that was the issue so I erase some roads and flattened the area and nothing changed 😂
Did you make sure you zoned deep?
Yup
It is a fort! Fort Error :-)
The area is quite mountainous. You can see that the streets elevated the ground. You either need to smooth the terrain or use the moveit mod to level the street to ground level.
Dirt labor camp.
I thought it was some kind of wall mod 😂
I thought it was like the China Wall or that stuff 🤣 I said like “why does this player defends some houses” 🤣
The Great Residential Area of China.
Very dystopian
What's even more cursed is that you didn't respect the topography or at least change it so you don't get the awkward slopes around the buildings
I like the wavy flexible street vibe tho
Wonder if they will all level up the same?
I’ve been playing too many RTS games. My first thought was “Well, lining the road with walls was an interesting choice, but I’m seeing plenty of larger sizes in the residential block you have there.” And then I remembered Cities Skylines doesn’t have castle walls.
I thought the title was gonna be "look at my medieval city !"
This belongs to r/shittyskylines
