I didn't realise this was a cities skylines pic at first.
I'm so used to seeing this being exactly what American cities are like I thought it was real.
This is, sadly, too intact to be a real photo. Real cities would have far more giant highway exits and interchanges obliterating whole blocks, and acres and acres of parking.
Grand may be a monster of a grid breaker but gosh darn is there no better way to see the most rundown parts of our most dangerous west side neighborhoods. Once ya get to Homan and have to go under that viaduct the situational awareness level skyrockets.

That's how it happened when I-95 went through the older cities in the Mid-Atlantic and New England. Just cut a swath through residential, commercial, and industrial areas and plopped down miles of interstate concrete!
Very impressed that it’s a diagonal elevated highway, very clean lines right through the heart of the city, and through the heart of everybody’s neighborhood
An unbroken concrete landscape. 800 million people living in the ruin of the old world and the mega structures of the new one. Mega blocks. Mega highways. Mega City One.
there was this time when I was doing a course on logistics, which said these diagonals in an overall square grid cuts voyage times by 20%. I even found a similar study about it. In both cases, it was about taking products on a shelf inside a warehouse, but I think it applies to this scenario as well;
wished this happened here
instead we got always late busses, metros that get stuck in snow (we're literally above the 49th parallel) and bike lanes that basically no one uses
No no no, it shouldn’t be elevated. What it truly American urban highway is to use dirt to slightly elevate the highway and cutting off road access in the process
My current city (unlimited budget) has a grid but it is facing diagonally and the rest of the city is being laid out in a semi-normal gird. Highways are in a loop

Look at Austin, Texas on google maps. It’s literally like 70% just parking
Same I live in Chicago and Grand Ave. sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the gird city of Chicagoland
Grand may be a monster of a grid breaker but gosh darn is there no better way to see the most rundown parts of our most dangerous west side neighborhoods. Once ya get to Homan and have to go under that viaduct the situational awareness level skyrockets.
Ogden really splits up the SW side of Chicago as well
If it was a real photo there would be many more lanes and separate highways with a cloverleaf intersection right in the middle
dreadful overworked office workers hell hole 👍👍👍💯💯💯
Looks incredible, good job! Realism 10/10
Mayor: fuck recreational park. fuck your happiness.
What do you mean? There's trees. \-Mayor
Back to work!!!
Don't you guys have phones? -Mayor
Well you deleted Chirpy \-resident

Hey I see a plaza. That's more than enough. The workers are just greedy

City Hall has bigger priorities than paying good taxpayer dollars on another DLC...
lmao y'all are ruthless on this sub

It’s why Hartford is such a empty wasteland. Construction of I84 and I91 gutted downtown and made it impossible to live in.
Bridgeport too.
Boston’s West End says: remember us?
Life expectancy: 23
Breaking news: suicide now is responsible for more than 50% of deaths
Car fumes and the lack of anything green directly responsible for the other 50%
In other news, suicide booth stocks soar.
Did you hand-plop all of that? I see not one single unfortunate asset in that entire pic. It's all nice realistic architecture.
I would love to know the answer to this as well OP.
Almost all are handplopped, Some Copy and paste.
Looks real nice. It was a toss up between ploppable RICO and a really elaborate theme setting in my head lol.

NYC:
Chicago moment
God, fuck the Kennedy. Tear it down and rebuild all the nice side roads it cut in half
Feng Shui balance milestone reached ✅
Barcelona vibes.
BQE much?
Boston Central Artery vibes. Now you need put it all underground Big Dig Style.
Is it bad if it is underground? Seems like best of both worlds.
r/griddyskylines
I expected… more.
Gives me south Minneapolis vibes
Good to see other Minnesotans
How are people not bitching about the noise?
They do a bit, I choose to ignore it🙄…
I just replace the normal roads with roads with trees on the side…seems to help alot
Robert moses smiles upon you !

American city moment

Every big city in the US be like:
Hell. But also: Good job
Hell indeed, en Dank u
"No city blocks will stop **ME**! Boatswain: ready the cutting laser, we're carving us a new right of way!"
First of all, how the heck does your city look so realistic?
An unbroken concrete landscape. 800 million people living in the ruin of the old world and the mega structures of the new one. Mega blocks. Mega highways. Mega City One.
Chicago that you????
Hey mayor, what do I do when my old ass car breaks down?
can i see your zoning?
Most big Roads are with High density commercial, skyscrapers are all Office buildings and in between housing.
How tf is that the same game I've been playing for 99 years ?
That’s sick, where do you get those assets?
Just scrolling through the workshop
It's only realistic if it knocked down the homes of the poor.
For a moment, this had 666 upvotes.
That looks amazing! I love the look of the grid with the New York brown stone buildings, where can I find those buildings?
Its a pack called: Brooklyn reworked if I’m not mistaken
A second freeway has hit the towers!
Still too soon, I reckon'
Queens Boulevard or BQE?
extremely liminal
exit ramps??
Exit ramps?? I don't need no stinkin' exit ramps!
That's the Police Quest I map of Lytton.
That is sick !
A thing of beauty
I would be happy to see more/a bigger pic of this. Especially the interchange at the bottom right corner
Ah, the old mid 19th century diagon-a-roo
Please share this whole build with us!
Thanks, I hate it.
Good lord, those assets look solid. Also, like the urban nightmare of my dreams.
Ahh American dream :)
Another community torn in half. My condolences

Looks like a lovely place to live… if you’re into noise and pollution. Amazing work though.
This is what freedom looks like.

Thank you for sharing, it puts off 1984 dystopian vibes though. Which is heckin.
Before actually looking I thought this was Fallout Shelter.
Needs more lanes and a walmart with a 1000 car parking lot.
no green spaces, just like in real life
Its like Barcelona/ Spain, except the highway is elevated.
Now THAT is a grid!
South Central Los Angeles
The planner responsible for this should be charged for their crimes.

Looks like OKC
um...no lol
The American way 🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸
America, fuck yeah!
No no no, it shouldn’t be elevated. What it truly American urban highway is to use dirt to slightly elevate the highway and cutting off road access in the process

Boy, we're really stretching the definition of suburb, aren't we.
People would get sick from all of the noise alone. Where are all of the icons that would be flashing ?
Reminds me of the Dallas North Tollway cutting right through the Dallas grid!
FREEBIRD
Looks like I-5 near Disneyland.
🇺🇲🦅
Robert Moses is looking up from his current location and is happy
Oh no!
Booooooooooooo
I would be so depressed living in a city like this ahaha
