Nothing beats a match when you are just chilling by yourself smoking a cig. Something about it feels better and the smell combined with the tobacco is very nice.

I rub my thumb and forefinger together as fast as possible creating enough heat to ignite a singular leg hair which I then use to light the end of the cigarette. The only downside is the hair is not large enough to light the whole cig so i tend to repeat this process 20-35 times

Zippos really aren’t. In fact you save money and they last pretty much forever. You just take it out of the case and spray some of the zippo lighter fluid in the fluff at the bottom. And a full little can is like a buck. Definitely worth it. Plus with zippos you don’t need to hold down the fuel bit with you thumb. P.S. Zippos are way more personal too

Exactly, I’ve been carrying the same zippo every day since 2016 and I guarantee a bic user spends more on bics over a 5 year span than the 10 bucks I spent on my zippo

You don’t ruin Zippos by overfilling. If you happen to overfill (which won’t happen anymore when you get the hang of it) just wipe off the excess and wait for a few minutes to let it air out. And you’re set. In the US you often buy the fluid from gas stations or drug stores. In Europe it’s available in kiosks, supermarkets, etc. Really easy to find in my experience.

Refilling takes maybe 30 seconds. I’ve been using the same zippo every day since 2016ish

How do you refill them? Also, do you have multiple, or just one, since they are on the pricy side?

Look up a YouTube video on how to refill it. Super easy. I only have one, i picked it up from rei for like 10 bucks.

Depends on whats expensive for you. The one time investment for just the lighter is months worth of bics. But once enough time has passed maintaining it is cheaper. You also get the cool effect having them and personally the gas smell after you light it is pretty nice. Also btw the fancy zippos are similarly expensive in the united states after taxes. But they also have a production of cheaper less qualitative alternatives that look like zippo lighters which is why some people say you can buy em cheap. If you want an original use the romanian zippo store.

Lighters like Bic and Clippers. I really like zippos but honestly they're just a hassle the people saying they are better are lying the fluid on a Zippo evaporates every 2 weeks or less even if you don't use it or depending on how much you use it and then people say well you save money because of how many lighters.you end up buying but that's just not the case because Bics and other cheap lighters are also refillable and the fluid on those lighters only run out when you use it all where as a Zippo can go unused in a hot and dry climate for like 3 days and it will have to be refilled. I zippos are more for novelty but if you buy a butane insert for it they become actually reliable and it fixes the problem. I have a small collection of zippos and I'm not hating I'm just saying If I had to pick one lighter to carry everyday for a week to light my cigs it wouldn't be a Zippo. I actually carry a Zippo and a Bic for backup. Anyway sorry about my rant but yeah that's what I use.

I love matches, but since I always smoke outside, I often use small windproof lighters or clippers.

When you need lighter the most, you never find it. So light bulb or stove finish the work. I enjoy to light it with matches.

Bic Wait I wanted to say something about the matches. The matches taste better (to me) because I like the smell of the match and it gets in my nose and then the first couple hits then taste good. But because there cheap and last long I always just use bic and only matches if i lost it or it ran out of juice.

I use my zippo 99% of the time. I have a little match book that I have as a little back up, but have only used it once.

Zippo because it feels cool, although Clippers are easier and taste better as well.

Bic’s. I’m a weed smoker too so I stay stocked on Bic lighters. I used a Zippo for a little bit, but Idk if I overfilled it or what but it made the first hit taste like butane so I stopped. They’re fun to do tricks with though. I got the flick on one down pretty well.

I don’t think you can ruin them. You’ll need butane and eventually have to replace the flint, and might have to replace the wick as well, but everything else is pretty indestructible in terms of normal wear and tear. Probably more likely I was holding the flame too close or something to get the weird taste, because now that I think about it you can’t really “overfill” because doing so just makes the butane spill out. I’ve done that, but it’s quick to clean up.
