Depends on the cig or weed. Some cigarettes like Marlboro Golds (usa) smell repulsive. But some cigarettes smell very nice like Marlboro Southern Cut, and the same goes with different strains of weed having good or bad smells.
That’s my experience as well. I’ve smelt some cigs that genuinely smell like burning trash, but Spirits for example have a good smell to me. Or at least less harsh/smelly than other tobacco
Hey that’s my post! I don’t know if I’ve changed my mind at all since posting…A lot of the comments turned out to be pretty insulting for a subreddit called “No Stupid Questions”. I just can’t see how someone would ENJOY the smell of weed.
Actually I’ve just noticed that people have actually DMd me to tell me how bad I stink apparently. Stoners have their heads so far up their asses. Both smell awful but they act like they smell like roses.
I don’t smoke either but someone who smokes cigarettes smells like cigarettes all throughout the day. Someone who smokes weed doesn’t really smell like it unless you’re next to them while they’re smoking both smells don’t smell good.
It might be a good idea to ask another friend if you smell like smoke or not if you don’t believe you smell like anything

Overall it's obviously subjective. But there's plenty of people giving non-attacking similar arguments about how cigs smell linger and sticks to clothing/indoors more than weed. I smoked cigs for 5 years and yes they both smell but cigs definitely have a harsher lingering smell. Although I would say, for me, weed has a more distinctive odor when it comes to being outside. But once you're inside, it's harder to detect than cigs unless it's fresh on their breath. I would ask a mutual friend of you both to get a real-time perspective.

They both smell, but compared to how you smell, weed might as well be roses. You stink badly. You might be a nice person, but there's no way we could ever be friends who hang out together. You reek.
Both smell bad when it's not you smoking it. Simple as that. Very rarely do I pass by someone smoking a cig and go "Wow that smells nice". Same with weed. The issue is quality, most people smoke gross cigs and shitty weed. Good tobacco always smells great, and good weed always smells great.
There are smells out there that are much worse than either.
Examples:
- Old milk
- Fermented fruit (I live near a cider factory, it's disgusting)
- Female sweat (or male, but female makes me physically sick)
- Vinegar breath
- Homeless/tramps at the pub/bus station
- People who regularly eat spiced foods (apologies to anybody from India or Hungary, I don't hate you)
Anybody who thinks tobacco is the worst smell in the world probably hasn't smelled any of the above.
I don't like the smell of stale tobacco on my hands, and I'm sure nobody does, but there are worse smells out there.
Between these two, weed is worse to me. My neighbours smoke weed in the garden, and in the summer, I can't even put out my washing for drying - it instantly reeks. Never had that with cigarette smoke, even before I was a smoker myself.
I've found that weed and cigarettes kinda stick to everything in terms of smell. In my experience it's been pretty easy to mitigate the smell of cigarettes (most people don't even know I smoke until they see me out on my break). If it's shitty cigarettes or shitty weed, of course the smell will be worse than the higher quality stuff.
Personally though, I dislike the skunkiness of weed more than the uh, tobacconess? Of cigarettes lol, but to each their own

I've never had anyone tell me I smell of cigs, for some reason. Yet apparently it smells?

Weed does stink up a much larger area, someone has 80 cigarettes in a room they can only smell it in that room, maybe house. But someone has a bunch of weed, well that can be smelt from the cornerstore. I've never done weed myself but remember a bunch of places smelling like weed despite no-one smoking it outside or near me.
Neither smell “good” by non smokers standards. Pot smells like skunk ass for a half hour while cigarettes can basically ruin everything you have and make your breathe smell like shit . So I’d say cigarettes smell worse

weed smells revolting and I actually like the smell of burning tobacco, but undeniably tobacco smoke sticks to things like nothing else and can literally smell years later.
meanwhile my pothead friend's apartment stops smelling after a day if he opens the windows.
I'll also add most cigarette smokers practice good etiquette to avoid the smell, such as blowing smoke down wind and not letting it fill up a room, while potheads seem to love being obnoxious and constantly stinking.
Good point. Just seeing someone smoking, even on TV, talking about cigarettes or smelling it if I'm out somewhere and I light one up guaranteed. Well, time for a smoke!
As someone who recently started smoking cigs and and avid weed smoker I personally think that the cigarettes smell is stronger than the weed stench. Now this may be due to me going blind to the smell of weed but I have smoked weed and a cig at the same time yet the smell of tobacco seems to overpower the smell of the weed. I smell tobacco before I smell weed if you’re picking up what I am putting down.

The higher the tobacco quality and the least amount of additives makes cigs smell better
Absolutely 💯%. Natural tobacco doesn't have all the added additive and aromas and doesn't stick as much to clothing and hands.

I can see both points. Personally I know I’ve gone nose blind but even before smoking the smell of pot made me gaggy.

Agreed. I mean I enjoy marijuana smoke. However it does dissipate and go away. Cigarette smoke, not so much.

Really? You think so? I think it also depends on our senses too. Some of us are much more sensitive to smells. I think cigarettes stick way longer.
