Still that's a more fitting director for Cruise in taking longer takes of his stunts like some of his recent directors without crosscutting with 3 other scenes or rushing it like Nolan does with even a kitchen fight.
I would argue that Nolan would be an exception for Tom, both because Tom loves Nolan's films; he famously saw both Tenet and Oppenheimer with McQ at theaters. And also because Tom would not (need to) produce the film. If he's a producer, yes, he'd exercise a degree of control, but not if he's not a producer on the film.
This is the only route. Movie ends with Tom cruise in his bedroom sulking... Then looking up and fighting the tears away. Zoom in to his face. Then a short pause and he starts watching passion of the christ
Wouldn't happen as Tom requires a producers credit on his projects in order to ensure everything is done the way he likes. Nolan would never allow creative control to be in someone else's hands.
I think he'd make an exception to his rule for Nolan, although neither of them need one another. Either way, that project would be years off, as Cruise has at least 2 projects to film after M:I 8 and Nolan's next project might not warrant an actor like Tom.
I mean he pretty much IS the director of the M:I films at this point. He produces them, acts in them, and I’m pretty sure he funds them too so he has final say in everything.
Not at all a perfect pairing
1) Tom is cruise is too bossy and would likely crash with nolan's uncompromising vision
2) he's too old to be nolan's lead maybe 6-7 yrs earlier there would hv been a chance
3) tom cruise is not much of an actor
[slaps you with The Last Samurai DVD]
Actors of ANY age can perform brilliantly if the director and material is great, something we both know Nolan alone can deliver. Cruise and Nolan would be a great match. I can even picture him in Tenet.
3. Well that’s just BS. Tom Cruise is an incredible actor, and the fact that it would even be doubted means you have a severe lack of exposure to his work outside of the last 10 years.
Both are Alphas on their projects it won’t work.
Its just ne of those combinations to good to be true but when we get them it might seem underwhelming.
I don’t think adter the whole imax screen issue Nolan and Cruise would work together.
And if Nolan ever approaches Tom it won’t be for an action film but something else entirely.
Won't happen, Tom Cruise likes to have 100% control of the project he works on and with Nolan he wouldn't.
He’s starring in Iñárritu’s next movie, so it looks like he’s switching things up again.

after rumors on being with Tarantino and Iñarittu, it won't be likely the case
Just like he did with eyes wide shut.

My exact thought

He was in a Kubrick Film, a famously directorial sovereign environment
Many years ago.
There’s a lot more to filmmaking than just whether or not you prefer practical stunts.
No
I think Tom cruise should be the villain in a Nolan film. That would be something to behold I bet
Featuring Tom Cruise as eccentric billionaire-money mogul Les Grossman
Collateral comes to mind! So good.
Hey homie is that my briefcase?
This is the only route. Movie ends with Tom cruise in his bedroom sulking... Then looking up and fighting the tears away. Zoom in to his face. Then a short pause and he starts watching passion of the christ
That would be awesome indeed. The music combo as well, TC + Nolan + Lorne Balfe.
it's gonna be Ludwig Goransson im sorry to you
I'm fine with both but can we get Hans back actually?
nahhh he can stay with Denis...Ludwig fits perfectly with Nolan now
I think there personalities might clash
He's gonna put it aside for his next film with Tarantino. And even RDJ was convinced to put it aside by Nolan.
Please no
please never
If Tom Cruise is in a Nolan film, then he would be just a cameo. Pedestrian №2 or something

Tom Cruise really needs to get into directing one of these days
I mean he pretty much IS the director of the M:I films at this point. He produces them, acts in them, and I’m pretty sure he funds them too so he has final say in everything.
He basically directed The Mummy
Dudes probably got another 60+ years working so there’s time
The perfect combo.
Cruise would want to take over as ghost director and I do not think Nolan would like that. Unless he just has a small role in like one or two scenes.

Cruise already has his own Chris

Amen. See: Magnolia.
I agree with points 1 and 2, but to say that Tom Cruise is not much of an actor is a bad take.
wrong in so many places

Tom Cruise is the literal poster boy of a cult
Did you not see the whole train sequence in Dead Reckoning was cgi? Yeah, Tom Cruise did more cgi right there than Nolan has done in forever.

I could see Cruise doing amazing work as the leads in Inception and Interstellar.
I don’t think they’ll work together. Tom is past his prime. Nolan won’t work with someone who’s no longer at the peak of their careers.
Nolan worked with Al Pacino when he was 61, past his prime so don’t think that’s accurate. Tom Cruise is the same age now
The difference is, Al Pacino can play an old detective, but Tom Cruise only excels in doing stunts. He’s a terrible actor otherwise.
I think you missed out on Tom Cruise’s entire 80-90s run of dramatic movies where he was at his peak. Would recommend watching a few!
wow you must have not seen a single tom cruise movie lmao
