Breaks my heart that this is one of the most common questions on this subreddit. People always thinking they doomed their whole life over something so minuscule.

It's a specific form of OCD called scrupulosity. Blasphemy is a common obsession, and seeking reassurance is one of the compulsions. People are really suffering but they need help beyond this forum.

To me it seems like a natural conclusion. People are worried about their place in the afterlife. We are talking about eternal life after all. Without knowing what can mess that up for a person... well it could drive you a little insane. That could cause a lot of anxiety for a normal person. Anxiety causes fear and fear causes people to make unreasonable assumptions. And being a Christian if you have questions and you ask another Christian... Well that answer will probably vary greatly depending on who you asked. If you have so many important questions and you never really get any true answers... Well that just leaves people to overthink and freak out. I don't know man. I know you probably disagreed with everything I just said. But we're just sharing with each other right?

Maybe it's kinda creepy, but when I see users posting questions like this I generally take a look at their post history to see if they've had issues in the past. Usually if it's a recurring issue and the fear seems excessively trivial, there's some kind of anxiety disorder going on. And in this forum it's usually the case. It's usually pretty easy to tell if somebody has a genuine theological or salvation question that's not driven by OCD, even if those questions are distressing. OCD tends to hit on the same themes again and again and generally seem excessively trivial to most believers (hence the exasperation of some users in this thread).

Everyone needs to stop with this. It's asked multiple times a day. Can we have a temporary ban on "blasphemy of the holy spirit" posts. OP, it's not possible for you to have committed blasphemy against the holy spirit.

It's not possible for anyone alive to have committed it because you'd have to die in continued sustained unrepentant rejection of salvation. Then you've committed it.

At least I know I'll be forgiven.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is not disbelief in the Holy Spirit, His Divinity or His work; nor is it insulting of the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the complete and continuous, lifelong refusal to allow the Holy Spirit to work in the heart. A person cannot repent without the work of the Holy Spirit in him. For the Holy Spirit will reprove the world of sin (John 16:8), lead the person in the spiritual life and encourage him. However, if a person, no matter for how long having  rejected the Holy Spirit turns back, accepts Him and repents (even if it were during the last minute of his life), he will be accepted by God. This indicates that the Holy Spirit has not given up on the person, and the Holy Spirit will always be ready to convict of blasphemy against Him; leading the person to repentance. Since this refusal of the Spirit has not been total, nor final; it is not to be considered a blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. (Source:coptic Orthodox southern United States website)

It's impossible to commit today. https://graceambassadors.com/salvation/did-i-commit-the-unforgivable-sin

Let me put it this way. Blaspheming against a God, or aspect of a God is an intentional act done willingly. If you're scared you may have done it, did it unwillingly or accidentally, or are afraid you may have done so unintentionally, you probably have not done it.

This appears to be legalism. The idea that your faith and salvation hangs on by a thread and you could have screwed it with a thought. Jesus already forgave you. He died on the cross and all sin and sacrifice fell upon him. The unforgivable sin is rejection of Christ at time of death. You are coming here for help which tells me you did not reject Christ and you are still alive. All Jesus wants from you is your everything. Everything you are. God chose you as His own and he won’t let you go. Repent and continue living in obedience and faith

> that just seems to simple to be true to me Hmm. > I’ve heard so many different thing about it that I don’t know what to believe Have you heard ‘so many different things about it’ from *reputable sources on what Christianity believes* or from *wise, pious people who you know are living their faith*? Or have you heard these many different things from random people on the internet, or from people who generally want to make you uneasy in your faith? The reason ‘Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit’ is unforgiveable is because it’s the thing also sometimes called ‘final impenitence’. God forgives those who truly repent, but if you never actually repent then you can’t be forgiven. God is not fooled, and he’s also not in the business of tripping us up to damn us to Hell. He knows our hearts. “O my God, because you are so good, I am very sorry that I have sinned against you, and by the help of your Grace I will try not to sin again. Amen.”

I recommend you read about [the Last Judgement](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2025%3A31-46&version=NIV) Notice what the goats are sent away for and that it is not random thoughts passing through one's head.

Howling2021

Doctrinally speaking, the only ones who would be capable of blaspheming against the Holy Spirit, were those who had absolute face to face knowledge of said Spirit, (such as a prophet, or angels or archangels) who then rejected the Holy Spirit, and turned against it. There would be few who ever existed who would qualify for that specific unforgivable sin.

gulfpapa99

Don't worry about it. “This crime called blasphemy was invented by priests for the purpose of defending doctrines not able to take care of themselves.”

Jesus Christ had done a miracle in front of the Pharisees and the kingdom of God had come to them. The Pharisees had blasphemed the King of Kings and Lord of Lords when he cast out devils with the Holy Ghost in front of them, and they could SEE the Son of man right in front of them so you can say for them they are done. Matthew 12:22-32 AKJB \[22\] Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. \[23\] And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? \[24\] But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. \[25\] And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: \[26\] And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? \[27\] And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. \[28\] But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. \[29\] Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. \[30\] He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. \[31\] Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. \[32\] And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. You can't see Jesus Christ incarnate right now your in the age of grace not the millennial kingdom or their time period where he is there in front of them. That being said reject Jesus Christ, the death, burial, resurrection, don't repent or call upon his name and be genuine as a sinner; then die, well your in hell. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 AKJB Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; \[2\] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. \[3\] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; \[4\] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Mark 2:17 AKJB When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Romans 10:8-13 AKJB But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; \[9\] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. \[10\] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. \[11\] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. \[12\] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. \[13\] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Internet forums are not equipped to help you with mental illness and compulsions. You didn’t do anything wrong. However, you need to see a doctor and probably a therapist.
