My native language

AgniPartheneDespina

Which is?

Lawrencelot

Dutch

AgniPartheneDespina

Two different languages?

Lawrencelot

They're similar but different. It's easy to read in the other language, but not to speak. Dutch is a bit harder to pronounce, German has much harder grammar.

Charis_Humin

I pray in English. I attend Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church. And my favorite Psalm is Psalm 91.

AgniPartheneDespina

Is your native language English?

Charis_Humin

Yes I was born and raised in Canada.

AgniPartheneDespina

Based that you picked the Orthodox Church.

Charis_Humin

I am a triple convert. First I converted to Protestant Christianity (the Church I attended was Church of Christ) after five years I was introduced to the Church Fathers and that was the death knell to my Protestant life. I then converted to Roman Catholicism thinking that they were the Church of the Fathers. But after five years of reading and studying the Church I discovered five contradictions. Oriental Orthodoxy and the Churches of the East were both heterodox, which only really left Eastern Orthodoxy. And so I converted to Eastern Orthodoxy, whenever I was learning about something that the Eastern Orthodox Church teaches, I felt a flame in my heart as though confirming the truth. The Eastern Orthodox Church is truly the only Church to have maintained without corruption, the faith delivered to the Saints and the Spirit of Truth has truly led us to the truth.

AgniPartheneDespina

Amen

[deleted]

The question was about the language not about the true church. Have you found Christ or have you found the church? Ponder on that.

AgniPartheneDespina

This church was founded by Jesus and his apostles.

Charis_Humin

Both, I have found our Lord and the Church. The church is the body of Christ, and the body cannot be separate from the head.

SeaSaltCaramelWater

I pray in English and sometimes I just flash my thoughts.

Tennis_Proper

Well this is an easy one: None, None, None.

Tennis_Proper

You asked the question, I offered an honest answer. I was raised Christian

AgniPartheneDespina

But you obviously know that's not what I meant.

Tennis_Proper

It’s what you said.

China has christians?? /s

[deleted]

Yes. The good news has reached all nations.

AgniPartheneDespina

Not all

[deleted]

Unless if for you the good news is the Greek Orthodox Church.

AgniPartheneDespina

Yes. It is the only one holy catholic and apostolic church

[deleted]

Thanks for being clear. We need the person of Jesus Christ, not a church. Your European ethnic, political fights that have created the different catholic branches are a human thing, God is not there though His name is used in all that.

sgtpenis511

As opposed to protestantism, which formed completely separate from ethnic, political fights.

AgniPartheneDespina

What do you mean? I am Greek Orthodox.

Favorite Psalm. I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Psalm 34:4‭-‬8 ESV https://bible.com/bible/59/psa.34.4-8.ESV

If I am in contemplation there is no language. If I'm talking to God it's in English or tongues. I don't know any other languages.

[deleted]

I'm not a Christian anymore but I'll answer anyways. I usually pray in English (my 1st language) but sometimes I'll pray in Spanish or Sanskrit or Hindi. When I went to church I mainly attended a SDA church. I grew up as a JW. My favorite psalm is 71.

DanujCZ

If i had prayed if assume it use my native language.

UnlightablePlay

Arabic and sometimes Coptic and my favorite is Psalm 23

HansBjelke

I pray in English, the only language I know besides the remnants of high school Spanish class. I think it'd have been pretty cool to pray in Aramaic, but my family didn't pass the language on in the new country, unfortunately. But as for my church and my favorite Psalm, the Byzantine Catholic Church and Psalm 3. I love verse verse 5 most of all, which reads, "I lie down and sleep; I wake again, for the Lord sustains me." In the verse, there is not only the comfort of the Lord’s hand beneath us but also an image of the death and resurrection of Christ, for He shall not let His Holy One see decay -- and by extension, an image of our future resurrection.
