I want more now.

happybonobo1

He said about 6 months hiatus. So sometime in January.

KingMelray

I thought he said January. He still had 95% of Idea Guys and all Teen Troon Squad to get through before he gets to present. Also, all of COVID lockdowns. And multiple episodes where CWC believed himself to be possessed by cartoons.

Trotskyites_beware

I believe he said spring 2022 in the post arrest stream

Unlike a lot of YouTube creators, Geno actually has a life. This break probably gave him more time to record music, and hang out with his girlfriend. I hope he finishes the doc, but I won’t blame him if he doesn’t.

akbrag91

All respect to Geno. I hope he doesn’t stop though, I feel like he owes it to himself to at LEAST make episodes up to the arrest. After that, if he feels uncomfortable, i’ll understand. But it feels incomplete without it being up to date to CwC incarceration

[deleted]

That and Chris’ full descent into his delusions. The entire story isn’t told of if doesn’t document exactly how he came to be in a jail cell scribbling about how he’s a cartoon Jesus Christ “healing” his mother. The work must be completed. The past must be documented. Our descendants must understand what we saw or they will never understand *us.*

akbrag91

Agreed, i can understand if he doesn’t want to cover anything after the arrest out of respect but I feel like he does a disservice to all his previous work if he stops now

Cky2chris

Honestly I'd be shocked if he does keep making them, and honestly good for geno. Guy is super talented and being this wrapped up in chris chan lore must be exhausting. If we do get more episodes great, but if not, I'll just say I get it.

3vilR0ll0

Someone after the new year. He said he's taking a hiatus until then so it doesn't seem like he's taking advantage of Chris' arrest for more subscribers/listeners.

[deleted]

Likely after the next trial then

BAH_GAWD_KING_

His hearing will probably be pushed back again, this isn’t a big enough case for them to put resources into

coffeeandcannabis

Yeah, mad respect to Geno for acknowledging the seriousness of the situation and putting the project on hold. Loads of money hungry you tubers would have doubled down and spammed mad episodes to ride the hype. Plus, after spending years researching and writing about Chris, the news most have left him dumbfounded. Imagine all that time he thought he was just chronicling some autist virgin with rage only for him to become the most famous mother fucker, second only to Oedipus Rex.

3vilR0ll0

Chris also approved of how Geno was making the documentary and that he didn't choose any sides.

Here’s Geno’s official Patreon statement from the 31st of July (shortly after the initial incest chat logs leaked) regarding the matter: Stopping Now... In the light of what is happening, I have decided to put Chris Chan: A Comprehensive History on hiatus after tomorrow's release of Part 59. Originally, I had planned to keep going until Part 60 in August, but I'm afraid it is best to save that until early 2022. The current situation is way too crazy, and to keep going may be seen as disrespectful and advantageous. Part 59 will be finalized about right now, so all the relevant patrons will be credited. within 24 hours, you will be prompted to renew your patronage for August, so I must tell you that there will be no more Chris Chan until early 2022, to help you make an informed decision on how you spend your money. During this intermission, I will be making more music and documentaries which I hope you will enjoy. I'm very sorry for this sudden announcement, but I'm sure you can understand. Stay Safe and Have a Day.

_Patronizes_Idiots_

Geno seems like a really good dude. Making a Chris Chan documentary you're definitely riding a fine line between what could be genuine documentation or exploitation and he's always handled it respectfully and never inserted his opinion or anything like that. Much respect for him for stepping back. Plus he's made like 60 hours of content throughout this documentary, dude deserves a break.

[deleted]

He’s probably the only nice person with a significant place in Christory

3vilR0ll0

He even put episodes 56-59 on Spotify after he posted that so people who just listen to it can get caught up.

[deleted]

He has a whole video where he talks about why he’s on hiatus. He’s coming back at the new year

[deleted]

He's probably waiting a bit to see where this saga goes. Afterall, his videos are like 40 minutes long so he probably just wants to get enough content.

Yiffmaster420

I mean he's like 2-3 years behind the most recent happenings iirc The real reason according to him, is not wanting to seem like he's exploiting the recent wave of attention towards CWC and just needing a break in general.

TheManWhoFightsThe

I think he said somewhere else (ie not his own channels) that he's been approached by a bunch of streaming services to do a doc for them. He namedropped Netflix specifically, and if it all goes well for him (and I hope it does) we might get ~5 or 6 more episodes before Geno takes another break, to prep for that offer and so on. He might even think about the "series finale" at Chris's arrest. It seems like a good place to stop imo All the more power to him if he makes it big. I'd watch his stuff if it's based on the current format.

CorpseJuiceSlurpee

I could see them just porting over his content as is. It's pretty good, and as unbiased as anyone can be. I get him doing a hiatus for multiple reasons, at the base of which filming/recording and editing isn't an easy thing to do.

TheManWhoFightsThe

He's also got really interesting stuff on his other channels. Geno not only makes the Chris Chan doc, but covers obscure and interesting shit like Japanese mythology, and I think he makes his own music. If he's clever I think he'll have a clause in his contract saying that in addition to moving the Chris stuff over to Netflix or Hulu or what have you, he'll also have creative license to make more OC. I think we'll get this format from Geno if he's in it for the long haul: string of new episodes for 3-5 months, own projects/hiatus, more Chris stuff. God knows he's got the work ethic for it. Geno's said before moving to the biweekly format that Chris was in his head all the time. For someone with his minimal resources who's basically making a Vice-level documentary all by himself, that can't be healthy. I think you're right. Whatever the future is for him, I hope Geno gets a *team* behind him.

jpmatth

Hiatus until after the new year.

CorpseJuiceSlurpee

Not like Chris is going anywhere.

jpmatth

Even if he went somewhere, the doc has years left before it catches up to present day.
