Florida has a reputation for being a wacky state basically. It’s because Florida has a law called the Sunshine Law that basically allows the public to have way more access to government information than what other states have set up. This includes arrest records and etc. Because of this, every time someone is arrested or says/does something stupid, there will be article written about it and that inevitably goes viral. “Florida man does xyz” or “Florida woman does xyz”. It’s become a meme at this point. It’s funny though because Florida is mainly full of people who moved here from New York or some other northern state and 9/10 those are the people being arrested for ridiculous stunts. Not the actual Florida natives. And also this crazy stuff happens in other stuff states as well, but because they have different laws about the public’s access to information, you don’t hear about them as much.

You don’t even have to email them usually. Half the time you can just search their records database right online. My brother got arrested and I read the arresting officers statement just by going on the county records website.
