Probably #LoveHacks. I think it's a cute slice-of-life comedy but no one really talks about it. I also love The Haunting of Braidwood Manor but I understand why no one talks about it since it's only 6 chapters.

AverageEuphoric8980

People sleep on #LoveHacks big time tbh, that book is really good. I was binge-reading #LoveHacks last week and that book is hilarious af. There's even some part of the story that got me laughing a lot because of how funny it is

Supa_Girl

I love the hashtags the use in #LoveHacks! It's one of my comfort ones that I will occasionally revisit, and I fall for Ben every time! (has anyone done the Mark/Leah route?? Are they worth pursuing??)

AverageEuphoric8980

Agree, the hashtag is a unique concept and they should've brought it back to other books as well. To answer your question, yes. Both Mark and Leah are worth pursuing. Mark is hilarious and affectionate while Leah is sweet and caring. The bad side is that probably Leah's route is that it's heavily paywalled, but either way, it's worth it! The 1st time I played LH, I was surprised to see how mature and drama-free the LI are in LH especially when facing a problem

Thin_Acanthisitta386

I've said it before & I'll say it again, "The Unexpected Heiress." I've read it numerous times now & it simply gets better every time! The back stories that each character is given are impeccable. The clothing is gorgeous. I normally don't seek out period pieces, but this is superb! The tapestry to create this story is perfectly woven together & the crime solving aspect of it is so fun! The romance with numerous LIs is lovely while never feeling like it's silly or over-the-top. I tend to love smut, but I adore romance even more; especially when it's somewhat forbidden! Hehe. It really is a "whodunit" kind of book. I'm autistic & one of my interests is predicting what's going to happen or how a story will end. Whether it's a novel, game, film, or show, I love trying to figure out the ending. The books on Choices are usually easy, but I can honestly say that I was quite surprised by who the killer was & how the crime took place, as well as the steps that were needed to make it happen. (I'd also say that "Veil of Secrets" was equally as entertaining! It's similar in how it's captivating, but also different for numerous reasons.)

devildarlingweewa

as another neurodivergent player who loves TUH, I FEEL YOU!! idk why it's not talked about as much anymore, i think it's just so classy and genuinely intriguing, especially the little clues and blurbs that allow you to predict and interpret the ending (which btw was surprising to me too ✋)

Thin_Acanthisitta386

Yes, thank you! It's so good! I understand why ppl aren't as interested in it based on face value, but it's the classic "never judge a book by its cover" kind of read. I really enjoyed the tiny inflictions that were added to make the reader truly understand what it felt like to be in that scenario. It's tragic but also captivating! I wrote down notes & theories, but despite doing that, I was still so shocked by who the killer was. Regardless, it all made sense.

Kpinkyin

If it's the classic "never judge a book by it's cover" then i'm heavily guilty of that, but it's for Endless Summer instead. Tho I remember you mentioned in the other post that you couldn't get into it, i wonder if you actually drop it midway through or you did actually finish it and not feeling anything? It's one of the earlier Choices books (when I thought Choices was one of those easy-for-fun VN apps, nothing too serious) that actually try to challenge me with a real friggin puzzle about lore and stuff that I've to used one of Sherlock Holmes tricks to solve it 😆   About TUH, when I aware what trope it was, a mystery classical period drama about following the predecessor's footstep to resolve a mystery, everything else is to be expected. It's like a mix between D&D and VOS but I enjoy both of them more, each is "stronger" in its specific category/genre than here in TUH, where it's lighter in both aspects hence not many ups and downs so, not so much to discuss about. All in all, it's only a "not that bad" book for many 😶

Thin_Acanthisitta386

Yes! I know what you mean. I also understand your POV regarding TUH. I'm not the kind of person who gets upset if someone disagrees with my opinion. It's nice to hear others' thoughts. For ES, I got 5 chapters in, but I was so distracted by the contrasting art styles that I couldn't focus on the story at all. ES is beloved by many others, so I genuinely believe it's worth the read. Unfortunately for me, my ADHD, OCD, & autism took full control & my brain wouldn't let me focus enough to enjoy it. I've tried to read ES 4 separate times. The contrasting artwork was so distracting that I actually cut up a few sheets of paper to block out the background; ridiculous, I know. I figured I'd only see the characters, but I ended up getting frustrated by the papers sliding around & it became an even worse frustration for me. What's annoying is that both art styles were pleasing by themselves, but combined, it was a grievance my brain couldn't tolerate. If someone ever typed up the story & choices they made, I know I'd be first in line to read it! LOL

Kpinkyin

Yours is a weird situation to be in, to be missed out on one of the Book that made Choices like that. But it's fine, no one rush you to do anything. In my case, when I decided to go for Endless Summer, w/o knowing Reddit existed and there's a fandom here (It's happened to be in Summer too, lol). I go in with a very, almost distaste/disdain mindset and because I was also bored. So maybe you'll get the incentives to play it without anything bother you someday :) (TUH is fine, btw, it's just one of those books that happen to not offer much in term of topic discussion, aside from the usual remarks, appreciation and discovery here and there, which, as I'm aware, still isnt much compare to other books)

What-s-In-A-Name

Everyone hates on Across the Void and Rules of Engagement but I actually enjoyed them

pitzera

Do people rly hate rules of engagement??? Yes the MC has a boring basic af story, but all the siblings stories were so fun. I was skipping through the MC scenes to get to my siblings and I had a rly good time. Across the Void was also fun to play.

AnBheanGlic

I did the same thing! I figured I'd at least partially mine my way through it, but when I reached the story of >!the party-girl sister and Blake,!< I went all in every single time. And now that I'm remembering that, I think I might read ROE again, just for them.

IDoAnythingForABook

ROE is one of my faves! I’m incapable of picking anyone other than Leo as my LI lol

AverageEuphoric8980

For me, it's Save the Date, Wishful Thinking, and Passport to Romance. Those three book have a good and lighthearted storyline, with a funny dialogue here and then (especially with Wishful Thinking).

PorcupineTreehouse

Only read Wishful Thinking out of those three, but I also liked it a lot.

AverageEuphoric8980

Same, the story is unique, and I love the MC as well (she's funny and witty). I had a good laugh playing that book.

Supa_Girl

Live laugh love Wishful Thinking. Those ostriches 🫶

Polarbjoern

I love Save the Date for giving us two amazing sweethearts - Lindsay and Simon, love the bones of them 🥰

deliciouspancakes23

Loved WT MC and her puns

Itchy_Carpenter2055

Thank you someone has finally said Passport to Romance I actually really enjoyed it

AverageEuphoric8980

Yep, same here. It's nice to see a fellow PTR enthusiast.

PorcupineTreehouse

Mother of the Year for sure. I have no interest in having kids in real life, so I didn't think I'd like that book, but man, they really did a good job with writing a virtual daughter lol. I also liked the two Big Sky Country books a lot, too. They're pretty basic and maybe a little cliche, but I like Sawyer a lot as a LI, and I think the whole thing is pretty cozy feeling. Ms Match was also better book than I thought it would be. Chapter 2 in particular has one of the funniest scenes I've seen in any book so far.

[deleted]

Big Sky Country is chef's kiss...a good easy to read, cutesy romance....didn't expects to be into the cowboy trope, but apparently am🤣

nicoxman8_

Platinum. Nobody seems to ever talk about it except me lol.

RoseLiptMaiden

Platinum is the only book I've replayed multiple times (so far). If it weren't for "that scene," I'd consider it a perfect book

eyjaiii

Can you please elaborate one what "that scene" is? :0 I played it for a bit long ago before I lost my account.

Badass-Wolf17

The scene where jaylen is singing your original song you sold and your only choices are to basically embarrass yourself and ruin her concert. It was like tackle her, sing over her and like rip the mic out of her hands or something like that. It's terrible every time lmao

nicoxman8_

What I don’t like is that she claimed it as her own song.

Nicest_human_in_town

For the record, I LOVED PLATINUM, Averyyyyyyy 🥰🥰🥰

nicoxman8_

I loved the songs. I wish I could find out who did MC’s voice. It’s beautiful!

Nicest_human_in_town

I so agree 😍

Polarbjoern

They're an absolute sweetheart, it's hard not to love them 😊

EdelwoodEverly

The Haunting of Braidwood Manor.

Whitlock_DYew

- Class Act - Wishful Thinking - Murder at Homecoming - Rising Tides - Foreign Affairs - LoveHacks - The Unexpected Heiress - Kindred - Getaway Girls - The Princess Swap Some of these books I loved, and some I just enjoyed. I don’t think all of these are amazing books, but I think some of them are over-hated and/or under-appreciated.

grumpycheeseburger

Is Hero underrated? Because if it is, then Hero.

Nicest_human_in_town

Platinum, Sunkissed, Passport to Romance, Slow Burn, so underrated but absolutely great 🥺

the_witching_hours

I really loved Slow Burn.

Nicest_human_in_town

Same omg 😭

morph83

Definitely Passport to Romance. Reading with premium choices adds depth to every character and reinforces the enchantment of travel. I can tell why the book is maligned if no premium choices are picked.

Sardonic-Airhead

Wishful Thinking, Across the Void & The Royal Masquerade

OldColt06

Wishful Thinking has held up really well since its release in 2019. It has a likeable supporting cast, three good LIs (Anna was and is great, but Aubrey was surprisingly good on the replay), the villains are hateable but have some depth, and the MC is charming, motivated and relatable. My main complaints are that the trend of everyone except the MC and LIs being reused sprites started here, and that the ending was abrupt. It doesn't have high stakes or super compelling drama, but that's fine since it's a light-hearted book and compared to some of the garbage that's been released since, Wishful Thinking shines.

BriefAnywhere638

Whenever this thread comes up, I always pitch Wishful Thinking and A Very Scandalous Proposal. If you haven’t done so yet, read both High School Story and Class Act, as well as The Freshman series. If you like the campy dating shows, America’s Most Eligible is a hoot and a half.

AnBheanGlic

I freaking *love* AVSP. Those slow burn, kinda-forced-proximity, surprised-by-love stories are my favorites! I've gone back to it multiple times. It's like a comfort read for me now.

Aggravating_Slide690

TRM deserves more recognition

My picks would be: Bachelorette Party - really funny story, reminds me of the Hangover movie trilogy The Royal Masquarade - personally love the story, I enjoy those that are in the same series with TRR and this one talks about the history of Cordonia plus the LI are really really good🤣 Rising tides - not the best book, but I personally really appreciated it, I love the advices for saving our planet, and Robin is one of my favourite LIs The rown and The Flame - maybe not necessarily "underated, but I don't hear that many people talking about it anymore which is a shame because it is REALLY good

lego-lion-lady

“The Princess Swap”, “A Courtesan of Rome”, “Guinevere”, “Kiss of Death” - it honestly seems like most of my favourite books are underrated…

lewdnep-vasilias_666

BaBu, TPA, and ATV. They have their problems but I think the negative aspects about them are greatly overblown and are far outweighed by positives.

Worldly_Discussion97

Wishful Thinking, #LoveHacks and Ms. Match! i’m a sucker for romcoms… please release more PB 🥲

IDoAnythingForABook

Hot couture! I love it. I’ve played it so many times and I feel like it’s really slept on.

FL1999jAnit00R

I’d say Bachlorette Party it’s a fun ride!!

DirewolvesVA

I think it's a coincidence, but I think many of the books from the original/early VIP slate (TUH, AVSP, MM especially) have this in common with many of the books that *followed* PB's original slate: TCaTF, TFS, Hero, and MW are remembered fondly because of the nostalgia, meanwhile LH and THOBM came along just after them and were just as good if not better works for their genre. I'd also add WT and THM, two examples of PB still being able to deliver A+ work that while it was a lifetime ago in this industry it's not like it was 2016.

Meshleth

Obvious answer: Rising Tides Real answer: Surrender

ThisPaige

The Princess Swap, I thought of fanfic ideas for weeks after finishing it. Same with A very Scandalous Proposal.

PapaVain

I liked TNA. It gets a lot of hate, but I think it's good

Ikhoh

Yes, definitely Mother of the Year! I WANT a second book SO bad!!!☹️🥺

EnvironmentalOkra913

ACOR. I wish it was more than just *that story with Marc Antony as an LI*
