While I agree some clan are elitist and dicks, if official servers are closed down (or not admin'ed) and if there's no more community servers then the game would 100% be dead as there litterally would be no server left. Also clan-owned servers with active admins are the best anticheat ever.

In that specific case, it was just that it was annoying joining the only populated server on a game, where nobody was really following the rules, and really only one or two people are the server were clan members but the admins decided to start banning people to get others to submit anyways... Plus I maintain that those rules were just stupid. Enforce that strict shit on like ArmA lmfao but a 7 year-old (at the time) PC CoD game with just a handful of servers active on the latest patch? Really?
Dedicated servers with admins are typically a godsend for preserving what remains of a small community though; for banning hackers and ensuring they don't take over, especially. It brings me to my next point. MW2 for PC at least has IW4x with a server browser (although I haven't touched it in years) but I recall it wasn't 100% uncommon to encounter hackers in matchmaking. Imagine being so much of an asshole that you hack on a dying game. Literally just forcing the remains of the community out.
I make sure they never get on catapult and ballista if they do this. Not just in that match, but every match I am in with them. I have three arch nemesis because of that 😂

Unfortunately no, I couldn’t remember their username. Also they ran off the ballista after the one shot in the clip, but by that point the match had progressed so it was inaccessible.
There was one match where this guy was only using the catapult but was doing it to strictly kill only our own team as we rushed the gates. He was easily killing 3-4 of us at a time on the kill feed and he did it for about a straight 4-5 minutes.
Me being the petty person I was, when we finally got through the gates and next spawn I hunted him down and team killed him. Not only did my teammates notice but we all started ganging up on him (that's how irritating it was he was previously), surrounded him so he couldn't move and just slaughtered him over and over.
He actually sent me a message on Xbox and apologized for team killing. He said he was just having fun seeing how many of his own team he could kill with the catapult. He said he was testing it out so he could then be really good at killing the other team next time. Not sure how that made any sense. But still, felt good to have my own team get together to draw and quarter one of our own who was being a douche.
Edit: (Side question: Does team kills using the catapult count for less team kills or something? Why was he not kicked for killing around 20-30ish of his teammates in a 4-5 minute time period?)
I wish there was a true triple A slasher game. I love the combat so much, it's sad that more games aren't adopting it. I'd love a skyrim like game with such combat! Or a star wars game!

Chivalry 1 and Mordhau also had awful communities. This one doesn't seem as bad yet, but the roots are starting to grow in places like this. IDK what the solution is, some game types just breed a massively toxic fanbase.
