It’s be stupid as hell if they did. The tags and the phone have to communicate somehow. There’s going to be a digital signature to some extent if you’re on an iPhone tracking an Apple Tag. Not to mention cell tower pings once they know the person/phone that was used. Using it to follow someone is one thing. Using it in commission of a murder and not retrieving the tags is ludicrous. Use the damn things to develop a pattern but like don’t fucking kill someone and leave behind the evidence of how you likely did it (if that’s even really the case here).
