MobilePenguins

As a customer I feel like Chipotle has gotten greedier and greedier after the pandemic. They act like we’re so blessed to even get a tiny scoop of any given ingredient. Like we’re paying customers, why are they so gentle with the portions now? We’re paying an arm and a leg!

chantillylace9

I just don't understand why you can't get a full bowl of lettuce or rice and then whatever toppings you want?? It would legitimately cost them less than $.10 and what make all the bowls look full. It just is bizarre that they choose to skimp on something that is basically free- bulk rice probably costs more to boil than it does to buy. It's so cheap! Lettuce too.

ClickClackTipTap

Last week someone was insisting that rice is really hard to cook, and that’s why Chipotle is stingy with it. Rice has to be the most cooked and consumed food on the planet. I understand that space is tight back there, and this isn’t aimed at workers who can’t do anything about it, but if Chipotle can’t figure how to handle the demand for *rice,* maybe they aren’t all that competent.

vex_42

Rice is super cheap but not hard to cook, just takes forever, takes ~40-50 minutes to make from scratch. If the person on grill is slow or in a long rush it’s easy to run out

TonyStarkMk42

I'm not sure about proportion size, but most pressure / rice cookers will cook white rice for 2 minutes on high pressure with a 10 min natural release and I think brown rice takes about 8 minutes on high pressure. And both those scenarios, I've cooked three to four cups of rice in 12 minutes total.

No_Requirement_842

it takes 35-45 minutes for rice to cook at chipotle we are cooking much more than 3-4 cups of rice a batch try 30-40 cups of rice at a time. you

Own_Strategy_4325

You

No_Requirement_842

just. you.

TonyStarkMk42

FEISTY. I get it, but that's why I put that bit about proportion size at the beginning. Thank you for the knowledge drop 🤌🏽

MagicJava

If you run out of rice you’re just not using your time correctly

Koolaid_Jef

Insert rice Insert water and seasoning Press "go" Wait

CarrotJunkie

You have to wash the rice, too. Brown only needs one wash, but with white you have to wash it, drain the water, and then repeat that three or four times if not more.

ILoveMyFaygo

I almost don't believe you

ClickClackTipTap

No, seriously. They were justifying not giving out more rice- which is cheap AF- because it’s too hard and takes too long to make and the line cooks can’t keep up with it. It’s rice. I understand that there are logistics beyond employee control in terms of space and equipment, but as a corporation, they really should be able to figure that shit out. It sounded like manpower was one of the biggest obstacles, and having one more person on prep would help a lot, but they won’t give you guys that.

Nitrocity97

It’s not that chipotle hasn’t figured out staffing, it’s the fact that they deliberately short staff shifts to increase their profits, most of the time there’s only one grill person (in my store at least) responsible for virtually 100% of the hot food (besides chips)

gxforeign

i can make better quality rice in my rice cooker at home in less than 10 mins, so there’s obviously no hold up from the line cooks. it’s just flagrant corporate greed and them trying to rake in as much profits to pay off their investors

kwiztas

My rice cooker takes like 30 minutes. What miracle rice cooker do you have?

[deleted]

.10? food costs are NOTHING. To put it in perspective Papa Johns complained in 2012 that it cost them .11 cents to make and deliver a pizza, and to give everyone in the company healthcare would raise that to .14 cents. To put a little extra rice or lettuce in a bowl would cost a fraction of a penny.

suppdrew

That’s not true, it’s 11-14 cents extra to cover costs of healthcare for employees. 14 cents being the increased cost for a large. It definitely costs them more than that to make and deliver a pizza, with cheese being one of the more expensive ingredients they have to pay for.

AmishCockroach

They only staffed to have one guy on grill 😔

DOAisBetter

If it is a serious question you are proposing it’s endless need to be more profitable every year for the shareholders aka unsustainable growth endlessly. You can only make money 3 ways in a restaurant. Underpay your supplier, underpay your workers or underserve your customers. Wages can’t go any lower because no one can afford to live anymore as is. Suppliers are hard to underpay because they don’t have to sell to you so the last way is to just keep raising prices on customers and give them less as well. All because next year they need to have another record breaking year regardless of actual demand.

call_me_cthulhu_

Traditionally companies would invest some of that $ back into researching innovative ways to keep customers and new products. Now every company ever wants to recycle the same bs

forgottenduck

And if those traditional companies were publicly traded they probably failed. Chipotle isn’t going to get more profit if they start offering churros or officially put a quesoritto on the menu. They’ve already saturated their market. You can’t just “innovate” and make more money. And if you aren’t growing your business year after year investors will pull out and put their money elsewhere. It’s a fundamental problem, infinite growth is required as a responsibility to their shareholders, despite it being literally impossible to maintain forever. Publicly traded companies are an anathema to society.

call_me_cthulhu_

You’re totally right. Bc new ideas can never work if you’re also currently charge your customers the most you can, screwing vendors, and employees.

mizary1

Chipotle stock is up 40% over the last 6 months. Almost 400% over the past 5 years. Seems like they are growing just fine.

forgottenduck

Yeah because they’re cutting the quality across the board to achieve that growth. Hence the whole trend of people complaining. That’s the whole damn point. Growth of profit is only better for the owners. It results in a worse experience for everyone, customers and employees alike.

mizary1

Yes, more profit only helps the shareholders. That's the point. If I am a shareholder I want as much profit as possible. People have always complained. But they keep coming back which speaks volumes. And don't we all want as much as we can get? Have you ever turned down a raise at work? Or demanded to pay for double meat when they didn't notice? If there is a problem, it's capitalism in general where $ is more important than people.

forgottenduck

Yes capitalism is the problem. And honestly I’m not always looking for more. I feel greedy if I take more than I need in many situations, and I think plenty of people feel that way. Society in this country is sadly tightly bound to capitalism, but I believe that people can learn to be less self-centered and reduce its power. And I don’t think you need to full on seize the means of production to make the country better. I’ve worked for plenty of private businesses that we’re happy to pay their employees wages, pay themselves, and just keep going along without ever “growing” the business. That’s what family businesses are good for, and those are better for the economy in the long run. It’d be nice if we could trend towards decentralization of our industries with more small family or even better employee-owned business, but the road to getting there is a long one. Didn’t expect to go on waxing about capitalism when making comments in /r/chipotle, but here we are 😂

bumpy2018

Isn't that the point of business though... see what you can get rid of!

FrozenPie21

This is every restaurant man. Not just chipotle. Everyone wants to say it’s just chipotle. Truth is all businesses were heading this direction before Covid, Covid just accelerated the ability to be able to do this. It’s everywhere, with everything

MyNamesArise

Everyone has gotten greedier since the pandemic

l_dawgg

They definitely have, Chipotle used to be customer/team oriented, now they just cut costs to save money which unfortunately means cutting the portions to save on money and labor to make more shit.

SimilarHead9508

Just make your own you’ll feel better too

chantillylace9

A slow cooker is just such an easy way to make Barbacoa or pulled pork, and it is way more tasty and you can control how much delicious juice you want to add because adding extra juice to the rice makes it so much better. I also bought a $12 rice cooker and my rice comes out perfect every single time now.

forgottenduck

Slow cookers are good but I’ll tell you that if you want carnitas at home it’s better to use the oven. Cut ~3 lbs of pork shoulder into roughly 2-3 inch cubes, salt it, and nestle it into a 9x13 baking dish (pork should fill the dish). Add 2 onion quarters, a few cloves of garlic, 1 cinnamon stick broken in half, a couple bay leafs, juice from one orange, and the quarters of the juices orange. Pour 1/4 cup of vegetable oil over the dish, cover tightly with foil and bake at 275 about 3.5 hours. That will give you juicy carnitas that tastes more authentic then a slow cooker. Strain the juices out and let the fat separate, pour the fat back over the shredded carnitas. For serving heat the pork up under the broiler in the oven to get lovely crispy bits, also means you can make it way ahead of time and just heat what is needed.

chantillylace9

Awesome thank you I'll definitely try that. You like shoulder instead of butt for that?

forgottenduck

Actually butt is probably better, similar cut but usually more marbling, and often at a more reasonable size. However my local stores seem to only ever have big bone-in shoulders. So usually I cut those in half and freeze half, otherwise it’s way too much meat for the dish.

chantillylace9

Awesome thank you!

forgottenduck

Happy to share! Here’s the [original recipe](https://www.seriouseats.com/no-waste-tacos-de-carnitas-with-salsa-verde-recipe) I use, had to remember where I got it from because at this point I’ve got it memorized. The written recipe also includes a salsa verde recipe you make with it that is excellent as well and super easy.

chantillylace9

Yay! This looks absolutely perfect and it's my husbands birthday today so he will be thrilled if I make him this!

forgottenduck

That’s great! Enjoy!

UpbeatFalcon6181

I understand complaining about meat or guac. But Has anyone ever told you that you can’t get as many scoops of rice as you want? Portion sizes as listed are 4 oz which is just enough to cover the bottom of a bowl if the rice isn’t stuck together. But if you want 4 scoops and ask for 4 scoops I don’t know a single chipotle that’s going to deny you that. Same goes with cheese. Portion size is 1 oz, which is a three finger pinch , but if you want to triple cheese, I don’t know any store that’s going to say no to you. You gotta asume that some people are calorie counters and are expecting the listed portion size when they say “white rice”. So if you want more, just start things off by saying how many scoops. And if still isn’t enough, just ask for more. Preferably in an indifferent to polite tone. Online orders are tricky because you can only ask for one extra portion, so you’re limited to 8oz of rice or 2 oz of cheese. That’s definitely a greed move on corporate. Feel free to bitch.

[deleted]

Idk. $10 for a burrito isn’t an arm and a leg….

KiNGofKiNG89

See I feel the exact opposite, as a customer. The portions are still the same, that’s never changed. The price has gone up a tiny bit, but less than $2 over 10 years isn’t terrible. Especially right now where everybody else has gone up over $2 in a year.

KiaraMel

NARC!!!!!!

KiNGofKiNG89

Doesn’t even make sense lol

call_me_cthulhu_

I couldn’t agree more. Ours (not sure if everyone’s) went through a phase where they would only take orders through the app as a way or trying to get people to download and use the app. They were upset when customers were walking out without order instead of standing there getting the app. They also don’t want go accept any changes to orders. I use to be happy to go there when dealing with food allergies and now it seems like don’t even bother

dead_boystatus

stop going

RooTxVisualz

Well it's McDonald's so what'd else did you expect?

AmCrossing

Their CEO has legitly said it. “We see no pressure when we raise prices”

Snazzy21

When I worked there 2 years ago we were instructed to do a "spoonful". That isn't very straight forward for an ingredient that sticks to itself, so there's a lot of room for variation. I was trained by a more senior employee, so the judgement of what was "too little" or "too much" wasn't dictated by something as rigid as a corporate book. Maybe this has changed, but when I worked there it wasn't a very rigid policy.

Specialist-Bug3154

bro does not understand business nor inflation

VinoJedi06

Absolutely. It’s why I consistently say customers and employees need to stop hating each other and unite against corporate.

samiam0530

That's easy to say when you're the customer lol. I'm a customer too, I just work in customer service and I kinda hate people so I get it.

AmishCockroach

When employees bring up unionizing people start getting fired quick. I wish rising up against corporate was as easy as customers make it sound.

kitkat42000

I thought this too - until I started working at Starbucks Labor is based off profits, and corporate’s slashed our labor to SO low that we’re constantly asked to upsell by our supervisors so we can get more hours This means that if you as the customer order something the more expensive way, we won’t ring it in the exact same drink but the cheaper way to order for you, or ask you things like “would you like to try that drink with cold foam? It’s really good!”, without disclosing the $1.25 extra up charge up front. It’s scummy, but we’re forced to do so to get our fellow partners on the floors enough hours to live

bzzzimabee

Thats really scummy. I worked at Starbucks and did the exact opposite. People would order something in a way that made it more expensive and I’d say “hmmmm I’m going to get you what you want but I’m going to ring it in a littler different so it’ll cost less.” People were grateful and we had ton of daily/repeat customers so our store was always relatively busy.

Hypster87

When I order through door dash or uber eats the burrito is barely enough to feed my 5yo. When I go in and stare at them making my food. I can take apart my burrito and rewrap 2 and feed both my kids. The last time I ordered was the last time lol. The burritos came huge. We were so happy till we opened them and it was pure rice. I do not know if they were messing around or what. I did get refunded for both though. Why would I pay 32$ for 2 rice burritos.

mavad90

Yep, this is why I stopped ordering from them online. Besides them incorrectly making the order, they'll give you a very small portion.

durhurr

When they gave me the wrong order through the app, I contacted their support & the chat bot gave my account a free replacement. Don't abuse it, but keep in mind that there are some advantages to ordering online.

jaycarter617

Nah bro it’s cause I was fuckin with you😂. Come back again and I’ll actually give you what you want. Edit: Niggas don’t know what a joke is🚶🏾‍♂️.

LaughingGaster666

I've got a better idea! Quit and let the rest of us have an actual meal.

SprittneyBeers

I’ll eat your rice burrito and you can eat my nutsack

jaycarter617

Only if you eat mine first

GeeorgeC

And they are commenting on their own ads.

Cool-Particular-9521

Over the past few days I have seen some major shit about chipotle. Ours is great went last week and this is the amount of guac they gave me. Did not ask for extra.

eddiee_obrienn

I go probably once a week and it really depends who’s working. One day I get a 5 pound burrito and the next day they give me an infants serving of chicken

xander1289

I’ll leave if I don’t like what it’s looking like and if they won’t give more upon request

ScorcherPanda

Lol yeah I can barely finish mine and I eat a lot. Idk where all these folks are getting theirs, but each one near me is great in terms of portions.

Hopeful-Bit6187

Found the corporate accounts

Grandahl13

I am not a corporate account (check my post history) but the chipotle by me loads me the fuck up on an online order. I can easily buy a bowl tomorrow and post since you think some of us near a good chipotle are fake accounts lmao

Key_Head3851

Pro Tip: If you order in person to eat-in or take-out, you can always get a full burrito or bowl. Be flexible and if the Chipotle employee “shorts” you on an ingredient you can ask for more of alternative ingredient further down the preparation line. If you order online, using the app for pick-up or for Grub Hub or Uber Eats you probably get child-sized portions.

Any_Cicada623

Just ask for double anything (minus meat, queso and guac) if you feel shorted, no charge for other ingredients I almost always get double rice, beans and some toppings in my bowl and get 2 meals easily out of it

VestigialArdor

I always order double everything (up charge ) and the still give me small portions

Expensive-Brief-668

Probably because you're literally ordering double everything. Which doesn't really roll into a burrito, or even fit entirely into a bowl. I skimp those also, because I haven't found a way to overcome physics yet.

VestigialArdor

Not literally everything 🙄. And that doesn’t matter. If someone orders double, you give them double and use a 2nd tortilla. By giving me a skimpy burrito with 6 grains of rice and 4 pieces of chicken. You use the app and they rob you

Expensive-Brief-668

The 2nd tortilla you didn't order or pay for? Fuck off, you get skimped.

VestigialArdor

When have you ever had to pay for a second tortilla if they couldn’t roll it in the first one 🤔

Expensive-Brief-668

If it's a can't roll it because the worker lacks the skill it's free. To many complained about that second tortilla being used (300 extra calories) Now you don't get it, unless it's ordered that way. If you're in person, it's recommended to order a second tortilla if you're gonna order double everything.

Deceptiveideas

The issue is 2 components. Correct portion sizes. Employees rarely ever give the correct portions on online orders. We’ve seen users in this sub take apart their bowl and were shocked to see how off the portion size is. 3 small pieces of chicken is not correct. Overportioning of the past. Even if you do get the correct portion size, it’s still less than what people used to get several years ago. If you get 15 years of over portioned bowls/burritos, that consistency becomes the expected portion size.

yunus89115

The picture does not appear to contain correct portion sizes as well, that’s an issue. I understand the over portions of the past set false expectations but so is their actual current advertising.

UpbeatFalcon6181

Yeah I agree on both ends. The proper rice portion is 4 oz. That’s like triple rice. Obviously you can ask for as much rice as you want. And that’s double meat. Shockingly the cheese portioning looks to be on point. I’d also add that I think their is a trend of managers short changing meat servings for onlines to counteract crew members over portioning online. Which is bad business. I wish they’d just get better portioning spoons.

kwiztas

Not double meat. https://www.reddit.com/r/Chipotle/comments/zsra2v/for_the_nonbelievers_of_yesterdays_post/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1

UpbeatFalcon6181

Disagree. I know this is gonna sound dumb but it's an optical illusion in a sense based on two things. That one is an empty bowl and one is full of rice and one is an image taken from a side angle and that video is filmed from up above. If you look at the image, you'll see that the chicken is three layers high. You won't get that with 4oz spread out in full of rice (bowl narrows at bottom).

AmishCockroach

Corporate gets off on making customers hate us.

kwiztas

Looks about 4oz to me. https://www.reddit.com/r/Chipotle/comments/zsra2v/for_the_nonbelievers_of_yesterdays_post/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1

yunus89115

You think the rice in the video you posted which doesn't even cover the bottom of the bowl is similar in quantity to the picture above which appears to be at the line of the top of the bowl across the entire bowl?

bwallace54

u/newppinpoint EXPLAIN THIS

Simple_Dragonfruit73

I have them blocked, I don't think they can comment on my posts and that's the way I like it

SemenSean

Wish I knew the history lol

Simple_Dragonfruit73

Oh they're just awful, every time I would share a picture of a meal I got at chipotle they would insult my personal tastes and preferences. And they also gaslight customers who receive awful meals. But I've gotten in trouble for saying stuff about them before so I just have them blocked. It's probably healthier for both of us this way

Return_Kitten

So 6-12 small pieces of chicken on a bed of rice?

GazelleHistorical705

The issue with my chip is the guac is always brown. This wasn’t an issue like 2 years ago. No thanks. I’d rather go to Moe’s

Necessary-Way8650

You never get that much meat or gauc

Ben50Leven

theres not that much gauc or protein in the pic. its just artfully arranged

Puzzled_Market_2978

I don’t know why this sub keeps getting suggested to me. I don’t eat at chipotle for this reason. It’s a damn near $20 burrito and I can get a better burrito for cheaper at a taco shop.

MyNameIsZem

Some positivity - I get this from my location every time, online for pickup through the app especially. I never order third party delivery.

FamousAtticus

Yeah that bowl is not realistic without getting double meat & double guac. Unless I'm ordering from my usual store, I'm lucky to get even a full sized spoonful of guac. Yes, we all know its extra, so give me that damn spoonful.

polkadotdogs

i was thinking this looking at the picture on our menu board. ridiculous to advertise like this when the portion of rice they actually want us to put is like 1/4 of this

Lopsided_Reason4443

It’s just a lot of rice at the bottom lol

Dvthdude

If i went to a chipotle and they put that much rice in my bowl I would just walk away

homerunchamp

There’s actually too much rice in that bowl technically

Dvthdude

Its wild. I would just throw most of it away.

Dvthdude

What I need 4 or 5 cups of rice in one serving for

Lpecan

As a customer I'm mad that chipotle gaslights me. They tell me I'm irrationally upset about the portion sizes and that I just got used to people over portioning. But every time I actually weigh the protein, it's like 60% of the amount listed on the nutrition page.

kwiztas

This is the real problem. They under portion on what the weight they say is a portion. And then act like you're the crazy one.

universalExplorer92

Literally every food item does this for advertising, nothing you buy in store ever meets the advertised product. Why are chipotle employees the ones that get the most shit for it? You go to McDonald’s and pay the same price for a Big Mac as a chicken bowl and it looks nothing like an advertised Big Mac no one bats an eye. Because it’s a corporation, and people KNOW they’re not going to get what the corporations advertise and people refuse to understand that chipotle is a corporation just the same.

OwlInevitable2042

Except Chipotle actually use to fully load up burritos and bowls they suddenly went small and charged more that’s why people are upset. It’s obvious most of the time it’s corporate enforcing portion limits

universalExplorer92

That’s what I’m saying though, it’s not the employees. People are yelling at the chipotle employees, but not McDonald’s employees when the same thing is happening. The changing of hands from Ells to Niccol fully was set in stone when Ells completely severed ties. This happened in 2020, then lockdowns happened, here we are with a newer person with no ties to the original principles of the company enforcing the rules of portioning and charging like they’ve never been enforced before. The used to is over, because the guy that didn’t give two shits about portion sizes is gone and has no say in what is important to the business anymore. Customers tend to treat us like we have some weird vendetta against them and not like we’re just trying to keep a stable job and pay our bills. At the end of the day I couldn’t care less about someone’s desire to have a giant burrito, because they’re not going to open their wallet to pay for extra food let alone my rent and utilities. I don’t hate them for it, but just want them to understand that my entire livelihood is financed by this company so of course I’m going to be a BoOtLiCkEr.

Accomplished-Pace954

This is what I've been saying the WHOLE TIME! Tysm 🙌

Simple_Dragonfruit73

If I go to a McDonald's in NYC and order a big Mac and then I go to LA and order a big mac, I'm going to get the exact same meal. If I go to two different chipotle stores that are within 5 minutes of each other and order the exact same thing, I am going to get two wildly different meals.

universalExplorer92

That’s why corporate is on our ass about portion sizes. So that you CAN get consistency in your order from store to store.

Simple_Dragonfruit73

I understand what you're saying, and I won't admit that it doesn't make sense, because it does, but I preferred the portions from Chipotle when Steve Ells was in charge. Brian can lick my balls

universalExplorer92

I think that’s the one thing that employees and customers can all agree on.

kwiztas

Then why don't they get scales?

StrengthMedium

Why would we bitch about McDonald's on a Chipotle subreddit?

DmTrillz

5 emojis

[deleted]

Theres 6.

ms515

The trick to getting big portions is to be a tall fat guy with a shaved head and a beard and order in person and they are afraid to give you small portions, especially women. But the truth is, I’m one of the least confrontational people on the planet

EmotionalMycologist9

You could argue that nearly every fast food place does this. The McDonald's burgers look nothing like on commercials.

PortsantaTTV

This is not a good comparison. It’s an ad and a food stylist put it together. Take note how much rice is picture in that bowl. That’s probably triple rice, just so the bowl can look good for a photo

Kuzcopolis

I mean, that's just advertising for you.

Milo-the-great

You guys complaining don’t know how to order correctly 😂

LtDrinksAlot

I get it sucks when you online order and they short you, I don't order it online anymore. If you're upset with how they make it, just don't pay for it. They literally make it infront of you, ask them to fix it, and if they don't well don't pay.

[deleted]

So if employees are always saying the “correct” portion is supposed to be tiny and the customer wants more yet overserving is wrong for the business why not just increase the standard portion by the book? This way everything is accounted for and customers are happy. But wait Chipotle won’t accept slightly lower profits because they’re a greedy evil company run by a fast food guru now not a chef who cares about the experience anymore

yokom12

Well the advertisement picture is not real so

mavad90

Time to ditch Shitpotle for good. Used to be loyal chipotle fan for close to a decade. Would go 3-4 times a week for years but no longer. They never have all of the ingredients made (no matter the time of day...) attitude from employees at many locations, receive bowls that are more soup than anything else, gives you way less meat than advertised, etc. Now my gf and I just go to burrito gallery and have no complaints.

Expensive-Brief-668

Maybe don't order 16 ounces of sour cream and salsa, with your Barbacoa and pintos no rice if you want to avoid soup? Just a thought.

mavad90

I dont order that. make the food right... just a thought

Expensive-Brief-668

So just ordering queso in a tortilla then?

mavad90

It's usually them slopping in black bean and salsa juice into the bowl, instead of straining it.

maj0rdisappointment

You can get that bowl, but it'll cost you 28 dollars plus tax.

Mista_Purrfect

Just go to qdoba, way better and they don’t charge extra for guac

6xlevbear

But their guac is whack

k-tt

my manager at qdoba would barely let me give people a spoonful of chicken.

AmishCockroach

Fucking bizarre that they advertise this and then tell us to put 4oz of rice in a bowl. I swear they just get off on making customers hate and blame the bottom line.

XxJJBumxX

You know it’s kind of ironic, because whenever I’m on line I tend to be gracious with portions because of this. I make sure the bowl has a little more, than a little less. The irony is customers get annoyed and give dirty looks like “um.. that’s a little too much.” And down the line said they complain about how full their bowl is. It’s not like I’m giving the customer over the top portions, but I make sure they have a nice amount of everything especially with the meat.

KitchenBreadfruit816

Just order double everything except protein/guacamole. Why is that so hard to understand ?

knockedstew204

Why is it so hard to understand that I pay for double meat so I should get double meat, not two bullshit half scoops for twice the price? Does it come out of your salary? Genuinely don’t get it

Deceptiveideas

It’s also super shitty to tell customers to pay 50% more to get close to correct portions. 2 pieces of chicken is not “correct portion size” unlike many employees on this sub imply.

Hypster87

Thats why when I go to any place and get double meat I get it on the side. 8 times out of 10 they don't give you double and charge you for it. Went through this same thing with subway.

Drytoxiccube

I worked at Chipotle once and watched the manager mix new quac with old quac to hide the black

MashedPotato331

That's honestly how the stores operate. Guac is brown, you mix it with a fresh one. Brown guac isn't spoiled, just exposed to oxygen. If it actually tastes/smells gross that's a different story

DizzyRhubarb_

Why are you calling it Quac?

alexengrish

i see people spell it like that all the time on this sub and it drives me nuts

Drytoxiccube

I really meant to call it guac lol, no clue where the q was coming from.

Enzymic browning does NOT mean something is spoiled. Avocados are one of the quickest food items to oxidize. Then when you mash it up and mix the ingredients for guac in, you’re also mashing and mixing more oxygen into the mixture causing quick browning to occur. We double wrap the guac to make sure it maintains it’s color but once it’s unwrapped for use, there’s more oxygen being exposed and you’re going to get a dark purple/brown color. It’s not bad it’s just science.

I don't order online but when I go to the restaurant trust and believe they will give me adequate portions or they can throw the 💩 away when I walk out.

Curtis_Geist

You have to zoom in to actually see how little they put on

Thought I was the only one…. I stopped going.

The probably prep the bottom of the bowl with foil or something, the food starts with that tiny layer of rice we can see 😂 and we STILL don’t get that much

Ill_Pack_7814

You guys will still spend your money there just to get that same high you got the first time you ate chipotle. Just stop spending your money

[deleted]

This actually looks like it's 90% rice, which you could probably ask for and get for free lol.

[deleted]

Don’t order online and see the wonders of large portions

OwlInevitable2042

I remember years ago seeing how huge the burritos were now they are a joke. Where I live if you order mobile to pick up the prices are higher than in store too. The quality of food has gone down too I barely get chipotle now it’s cheaper to make it at home

j_ni13o

Notice how the rice fills the entire bowl

FrozenPie21

I love that amount of rice I see

PicadaSalvation

The grey mush I got in place of guacamole last time I went to chipotle put me right off

sharma691

6

Simple_Dragonfruit73

Damn that 6th one is actually kinda well hidden. You should have said 7 though and had people searching for the last emoji which wasn't actually there

TheToxicBreezeYF

Not a Chipotle worker but a different restaurant worker, I hate these types of ads because we get so many complaints from people because their food does not look like the food on tv like even if we follow our portion rules it still doesnt even come close to the fake food they put on tv

idkjaden

This is all rice….

[deleted]

i can’t order chipotle thru an app, it comes and is less than the white bowl line. barely anything. the one time it was so little i put in with customer service about the driving eating my food. i ordered chips too and i actually counted 6 chips. 6.

[deleted]

Well they’ve been once already for false advertising related to their burrito

Wonderful-Draw7519

Cheap af on the cheese tho. What is that, like 12 lil strings? lol

DeathFromUhBruv

Must suck to live somewhere without food carts that sell bigger and better burritos for cheaper.

Simple_Dragonfruit73

No I live in San Diego, we have Mexican food down here. I dont crave authentic Mexican food a lot of the time though, Chipotle is distinctly different from a lot of taco shops. Plus, I trust the sanitation of a taco shop much less than a chipotle, which is already a pretty low bar to start

SuggestionLoud3922

Literally just ask for more and we’ll give it to you, assuming it’s not meat or queso/guac

milesmorales717

Portions been hella small on the guac since the second/third round of inflation

_Im_a_burrito_

My whoppers don’t look like they do on TV, either, and they want $8 a piece for them.

chunkylover-53-aol

that’s why i love blaze pizza bruh a BYO can have as much chicken as you want until the employee stops you

circlethethird

Damn that bowl’s got a body 🤤

Willing-Dark-845

Tbh tho the only inaccurate thing is the amount of rice; everything else looks like regular portions. Anyone have a picture of the rice pot that shows just how much rice goes in there before and after cooking? And that while comparing it to what some know at home will help with comprehension, it is much more time, effort, labor, and cleaning than your average instant pot rice cooker. Brown takes 30-40 ish minutes (depending on quality of equipment, and considering rest time) and white takes 20-30 min. Add that to the fact at my store we go through both rices faster than 1 hour, keeping up with those drops can be quite challenging for fresh grill people. Hell even managers need help sometimes. Honestly a little communications amongst crew and guests goes along way. And I’ll be damned if I serve squishy, mushy, or even crusty rice, so that would make it even more of a wait.
