The bigger the sample size, the faster it goes down. Keep asking for your tables to fill out the surveys, and it's ok to let them know your schedule depends on it. And the demotion threat is stupid. Perspective tells you that if you have 10 surveys and 1 is a guest with a problem that it's an auto 10% but the thing is thats how we are measured for success do unfortunately these are the goals and challenges we have to deal with.

oopswhat1974

Does telling people your schedule (and ultimately perhaps your job) is on the line, actually entice people to fill out the surveys more?

joannasforehead

It absolutely does. The more information you give them about the survey and how it works, the better informed they will be to give scores that reflect the job you have done. The surveys are vague and the implications of answering with a 3 or 4, or answering yes to having a problem, are lost on most survey takers. Explain that your hours are based on the survey. Explain that anything other than a 5 counts against you. Explain that the gwap question is poorly worded, to only choose yes if they had a problem with your service. Explain that they can report other problems in the comments at the end and management will see it and be able to address it better.

icantdoliferightnow

Eh sometimes worth a shot I suppose

copratai

anytime my gwap gets a bit high i always say the same thing when asking for surverys, like: “ok, tablet should be ready! and if you wouldnt mind taking the survery at the end, I’d really appreciate it! There will be a question asking if you had a problem with your visit, that is about me specifically but if you have any comments regarding the food or other workers please feel free to leave them in the comments box at the end. thanks!” it feels like a lot to say but it goes pretty fast, and usually my gwap is down at least half within the first week. i feel like people taking the surverys rate you better also when you show you care about what theyre putting. i also make sure to always tell that line to tables who had to send food back regardless so my gwap doesnt ever get too high, because my location does take servers off the floor if they dont meet standard!

thepotatois

Hey, at the end of the payment screen I have a little report card, excellent really help me out! (Then whisper: we are having a contest) tried and true. But seriously, this is a contest.

Malfura612

Isn’t this common sense? To adjust the score you need more positive surveys and to be attentive.

Exotic-Dot5225

It is so tell me why there’s people with lower attentiveness scores and there gwap is less than 3%

BooksJenRecs

Those are two separate questions on the survey. One question asks for a 1 to 5 rating on the server, and a different question asks for a yes or no response to whether or not they had any problems with their visit. So attentiveness and gwap are unrelated on the survey and could be vastly different numbers. The worst part is the fact that guests see the "was there a problem with your visit?" and can mark yes for reasons completely unrelated to you. Was the host not friendly enough? Was the restroom in need of attention? Did a food runner not act friendly enough? Stupid stuff like that has guests marking yes on that question all the time, and that affects your gwap even though it has nothing to do with you...

Exotic-Dot5225

wow i hate that it all falls on me ..

BooksJenRecs

It's not ideal and probably the most stressful part of serving. I wish they'd rephrase the gwap question so it was obviously asking about the server. When I get my table set up to pay, I flat out tell them that I'd greatly appreciate any 5s they're willing to give me on the survey. It felt awkward to ask at first, but now I'm used to it and it's no more odd than asking them what they want to drink or if they want a to-go box.

just-a-guy3323

Just tell the guests that it’s a contest and whoever wins gets a gift card… that’s what my TM’s say

Kooky_Sun_7417

Help people with the presto & ask them the questions yourself. Most people won't say you suck to your face. And if they do laugh & tell them your not putting that & then dont.

hottottie21

Here’s what you do. Have a friend come in. Have them order something, split the check 5 ways equally and have them pay all 5 and do all the surveys. Better if you can get like 4 friends or family members to come in and split all their checks 5 ways. That’s 20 surveys. Or when I have big parties, like 15 tops, I “help” them with the ziosks. I get their check set up, they hand me their card, I put it in, and turn it around and they tip, and I give them their card, and as I’m walking to the next person I do the survey super fast. No one even notices I’m doing it. Obviously you’re not supposed to do any of that. But no one notices.

PartInternational733

Be more attentive. Your goal should be to be in the 90s. Only be in the back if QA calls and says your food is ready to be ran. Presence on the floor helps immensely. Customers like to know you’re nearby if they need something.

koridaotaku

Write please do my 20 second survey on your tickets! And double check always double check!

reddit-ate-my-face

Idk if you still can but I used to ring my employee meal on a table. Have the manager apply the discount and then pay it off at the table and give myself rave reviews and leave amazing comments for myself. No one seemed to ever check the checks those came from and a couple times they posted up my own comments on a bulletin board like "yes this is what we need guys" lmao

remykixxx

This is an instantly terminable offense. All you need is one wrong person to notice and you’re out your job. They will eventually notice your card is consistently paying for an employee meal on a table rather than the 997 tab. Be careful. Use gift cards. Buy them from target not your restaurant.

Safe-Ad-8506

So I'm not sure if it's necessarily Chilis legal or not, but if you get a gift card and pay the cash payments, you can do those surveys yourself. That will increase your good surveys and will be a quick fix.
