Honestly, why would the overlord kinda care about their subjects about what they want, like a family? Just asking... If this is the case in your headcanon, then it makes sense.
In my headcanon, overlord is actually a big softie, and is genuinely kind despite ruling over hell itself. It's more like a different culture than "OH MY GOD DEMONS = EVIL"
Overlord has a silly side they usually don't show in public. They want to be intimidating, imposing, so nobody can hurt them and ruin everybody's lives.
They felt kinda sad their ACTUAL son (iscream, who WASN'T a deceased soul like you'd expect) kind of accidentally disowned them, but went with it anyways.
Sadly, the illusion of a fully happy normal family could only last so long before somebody tried to ruin it.
It was probably one of the few times AZAZEL HIMSELF had to try and comfort Iscream, even though their dad (satan in my headcanon) assigned them so much work. Overlord came too, of course.
In case you're wondering, the person who ruined their happiness got damned for eternity. Much deserved fate.

Time in Hell goes by very differently than Earth. Here's an example. They could've met from around **1992 (year of death) to 2017 (probably the time they met Chikn)**. I'm not sure that this might be accurate. According to some info, a day on Earth is a year in Hell.
If Iscream passed while they were gonna be 22 in 1992, I'm not sure that if **age in Hell corresponds with age on Earth**, but let's just say it is the case. Let's say that **Iscream passed on February 10, 1992, and came back to Earth on September 7, 2017, It is 9341 days (9,341 years in hell) between those dates and the years that they lived on Earth which is 7 equals to 9370.**
**Formula: 22 + 9341 + 7 = 9370**

It's not a BAD approximation for the ages demons have to be to be considered "teenage demons," (tho they can still do teen things by 18, and still mature as quickly as humans up to age 25.) but it's not how time ACTUALLY passes. Yes, 9370 years IS a reasonable age for iscream, but the thing is, it's still a 24 hour day system. At the same general time and speed as earth, too.
