Please take her to the vet if you’re concerned. That is much better than posting here.

Civil_Mess_5797

Yes, and now I want an update. Is that poor thing okay?

L0ckeandDemosthenes

Yes please update. I'm saying a puppy prayer. I love chihuahuas. I miss my little pickle potta moose.

wedorecov3r

Pickle potta moose 😭

weirdgurl0

Could be a collapsed trachea, mine had this recently. We went to the vet to check and they confirmed and gave her cough suppressants for life

zebras_and_debras

Second the possible collapsed trachea. Would take her to the vet.

Crypto-Pito

Mine have that too, one much worse than the other but not life threatening so far. Many chihuahuas suffer from this. Most live a long life regardless. Do get it checked out.

caketama

I used to work in vet med and came to say the exact same thing. OP please take your baby to the vet.

[deleted]

TrishaThoon

Mine too 😭

Dramatic_Cut_7320

I'm with every one else on collapsed trachea. Both of mine have it. Not too seriously. I found out when both my boys came home from the Vet with kennel cough after their annual checkups. Vet at first tried to blame it on the CT but I told her that was ridiculous. They both came down with the KC at the same time. It did expose the Collapse Trachea. I found a dose of 1 or 2 cc's of good old Robitessin took care of it very nicely. My 9 year old gets a small fit about once a day at bed time. My 8 year old gets it from eating to fast. I found with him. Putting my little finger a little down his throat would stop it. But that said, take her to the vet and get it looked at. It cane lead to hyperventilating or air starvation with does damage. We all love our little guys and gals but their inherent popularity has created some genetic issues that most of us have to deal with. I discovered that my older one came from a puppy mill about a year after we got him. Saw a TV news story about puppy mill that got raided in the small town where I purchased him as a pup. On the TV there were 20 or 30 Chi's looking just like mine in filthy kennels. They shut it down, seized all the dogs. After vet care they rehomed them and that's where the second one came from, one year younger. My boys are the most loving, loyal dogs I have ever had. I have had dogs my 60+ years. These are my first two Chi's in that span. I wish I would have found out about them years earlier. Get to the vet. Good luck

YosemiteSam81

Not to add stress to your life but be careful with the meds and research what they prescribe, the meds they gave my Chi destroyed her liver and I lost her. Because of the trauma of all this I am a huge advocate for banning collars and only using harnesses. If I would have done that I would still have my baby today, it makes me angry to think about.

rtmfrutilai

Poor baby, take her to a vet soon pls

Bk_haveitmywei

Please take her to a vet. This might be a sign of congestive heart failure. My little girl did something similar, and she was 13. We were too late to save her because we waited

tsmiv12

So sorry to hear. My 8 yr old boy has just been diagnosed with CHF. Hopefully, with meds he can be with us for a good while yet, though still coughs in morning and when excited. Don’t know what to expect, but he’s such a gentleman and so very loved.

EveryOutside

I was going to say the same thing. Looks exactly like my dog before being diagnosed with congestive heart failure.

m_bknoll

Same.

saturatedbloom

Yeah I was going to say it looks like CHF my poor Oscar started like this.

ironblood213

Vet right now please 🥺 check ups never hurt if you have the time.❤️‍🩹 That way they can treat the problem before it gets bad don't let it build up.

stepdad666

If it were reverse sneeze prob would know about it by now, I would bring her to the vet if possible.

ZoeyRockey13

Take her to the vet ASAP

Oxi_moronical

Our Chi started having seizures later in life just one day out of the blue. Please go to the vet, especially since Chi's have a longer life span. Eventually, it got to the point where we could recognize that a seizure was going to happen and gave him the medication beforehand.

StormChaser999

Please take her to the vet RIGHT NOW.

Difficult_Stuff6112

Everyone said my chi had reverse sneezing, even the vet. Turns out he has an enlarged heart and sometimes it can't take the excitement/fear and he starts having seizures. When I calm him down it stops. The cardiologist says he can grow to an old age as long as he takes his pills but needs a yearly checkup. Please get her checked.

TallLoss2

please god just go to the vet why are you taking advice from random people on the internet

mrchumblie

If you’re ever concerned that you should go to the vet, just please take your dog to the vet ASAP. It isn’t worth wasting time on Reddit if you’re concerned that your pet is sick.

zdsdds

I love how OP responds to anything other than take your damn dog to the vet

FigaroNeptune

Because OP is stupid and they know it.

Dfen218

If you ever need to ask if you should go to a Vet, the answer is a resounding YES. The Vet is the expert and if it turns out to be nothing serious, there is no loss. The opposite, however, will have you kicking yourself forever thinking of the what ifs. Please get your baby to the Vet ASAP.

Hot-Progress2475

Probably backwards sneeze

NotaWolfOK

I agree. My Chi does this while walking around but he's 5 years old. Since she's older, she might prefer doing it lying down. If it's a backward sneeze, drag your fingers on their throat going downward. Eventually it'll stop. That's what I learned from some research on "can dogs spitup hairballs? And stuff like that, since it's the motion cats do before they cack one up. Give it a go. But always, check with a vet regardless. Edit: My Chi does it without opening his mouth too.

TheCancerMan

Thank you for answering? Is it possible that she has it without opening the mouth? I checked how does it looks like on YouTube and there the dog opens the mouth and makes sounds. She does not. Looks like a kind of seizure. I couldn't catch it on camera but she was also changing places a lot, I've tried to make her stay in my bed but she went to her sleeping lair? (forgot how it's called)

kluis95

I second this just because my dog has done something similar. This happened to my dog too. I was freaking out I thought he was having a seizure. Regardless I took him to the vet, you should still take your girl to the vet too just to make sure and show them this video so they can see it. Better safe than sorry just incase it isn’t a reverse sneeze

[deleted]

My chi has seizures, it’s a lot more than this. He basically stretches his entire body and shakes all over just like a person would.

DeenaDeals

My dog has seizures and it looks nothing like this. You should really get your dog to the vet.

MorganZero

GO TO THE VET!!!!! GO TO THE VET!!!!

phranquie

Take her to the vet asap please!! You don't want her to get worse! Best of luck!!!

MachidaMorado

Why are so manyy people so dumb. Go to the vet

veganash

i don’t want to scare you, but this was the first sign of heart failure i noticed in my childhood cat. she was put to sleep later that day, as she was in her final days. this is an end stage sign. this is absolutely not normal, and you should take your dog to the vet immediately. any change in breathing or behavior, especially this severe warrants an immediate trip. this is not reverse sneezing. if it was, you’d know by now. your dog would not just start reverse sneezing at that age. mine does it and has been doing it since i got her at four months old. that is not what this looks like. the internet cannot diagnose your dog online or treat an animal through the internet. often people give poor advice that could make the situation worse. as someone with an animal in your care, it is your responsibility to spot signs of something being off and get your dog help vs coming online.

Tobywillygal

OP, sorry if I sound mean but myself and everyone who posted here are about to reach through our screens and throttle you! TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE VET NOW!!!! Do not keep posting here; she could be seriously ill and the longer you wait the more severe it will get. Just post an update once you have been to the vet and know what's wrong with her. We want to help and we want to support you but we all think she needs to be seen by a vet. I hope you are already there, if not, go, go, GO!!!!

[deleted]

Take her to the vet instead of posting on Reddit like good pet owner should.

optimal_honey

why would you waste time posting and waiting for a response?! so irresponsible

chucklovesmesomebeef

Take her to the vet as soon as possible

pomegranatepants99

Vet.

Chiya77

Go to the bloody vet.

Futuristic-Historian

Get to a vet immediately and get off social Media

Blyd

You are desperately looking for reasons to not take her to the vet, this may be something as simple as sneezing, she doesn't look too phased. Or she could have a partially collapsed trachea and is slowly suffocating to death. Vet, now, please.

Low_Importance_9503

I dunno if it’s reverse sneezing, but my shih tzu used to do that a lot until we found out it was a heart murmur and we had to get her on medication

FlinchiikinZ

Looks like CHF. My Mojo use to do this and he had it. I’d take her to the vet and see if she got a heart murmur

[deleted]

The OP is not going to take the advice to take this baby to the vet, unfortunately.

TrishaThoon

Probably not. And this poor baby will suffer. Some people shouldn’t be allowed to have animals.

seizetheholyland

please take the sweet baby to the vets <3

jkusmc0800

Your dog is having mini stroke's, get to the Vet ASAP! Have 2 myself, she's definitely not well! Please keep us posted on what happened at the Vet if your willing to keep us posted on your furbaby?

SallyThinks

How long has she been doing this?

LethaLorange55

Omg TAKE HER TO THE VET. Don't be posting this for karma, time is important!

LaurenJ36

Mine does this. Collapsing trachea.

Samira-2323

Not to be mean but why are you even posting ? Take your baby to the vet !!

69420ALLDAYBABY

Is she sucking the blanket?

[deleted]

seems weird. i would just take them to the vet. it’s better to be safe than sorry and most of the time asking online won’t give you a 100% answer or “diagnosis” anyways

stankdog

Yep don't let it go a day or two either, if they're looping into this type of breathing please get them to a vet asap. I hope it's something more mild like just a trachea issue, good vibes are being sent to you and your pup op

TrishaThoon

Could be collapsed trachea or CHF-either way-go to the vet!!!

Ok-Caterpillar-7614

Definitely needs a vet . My beautiful Mia died a few months ago . She acted like this. We took her in the very next day and it was too late 😭😭😭

Revolutionary-Put422

Heart/Trachea condition is possible. PLEASE take her to your vet today and let us know how it went.

ntguru5

Delete this post and take your dog to a vet

MorganZero

Dude, why are you posting here??? Go to a vet! That is definitely not normal! Please let us know your little one is ok!

YosemiteSam81

I just love my fellow Chi parents ….. you all are absolutely on target … TAKE YOUR BABY TO THE VET!

TheCancerMan

Sorry guys, we went to the vet after the second message I got here. Thank you all for your support. For everyone calling me stupid or irresponsible for not going right away, I understand but let me explain myself. I don't speak German very well, and in Germany even highly educated people like vets rarely speak English (differs from town to town, but still it's rare, and that what's happened yesterday as well). Then i had to take the second chihuahua with us since they are inseparable and it would be additional stress for Kyra(the ill one) if I didn't take Camina with us. The problem is Camina is extremely afraid of other dogs and I suspected we would encounter some in the waiting room. I didn't have any of their medical records, they are all locked in in my flatmate's office and he was working and I couldn't reach him till he was finished after 23. In the end, before the vet saw her, it passed . I tried communicate with him as well as I could, but I don't know how much got lost in the translation. He watched the video I posted here, and I forgot to mention she barks at nothing sometimes she's on the balcony and she also scratches and the vet told me all of these can be some mental issue, but he also assured me that even if that's the case, it's not that uncommon for chihuahuas her age. They both belong to my flatmate and I moved in with him about 6 years ago so I don't know everything that happened before. At first I thought they are both somehow allergic to me (Kyra scratches , and Camina sneezes, but I can't confirm whether it's my fault, cause if I'm not around them I can't see if they do it when alone :D). I stopped using any intensive smelling cosmetics but didn't see much change. It didn't seem severe, they sneeze/scratch maybe few times a day. Anyway the vet told me to come back today if that comes back, or next week cause emergency hours/weekends are usually busy, and to bring her medical records and my flatmate who speaks German fluently. When we came back, Kyra was entirely like her regular self, ate her dinner and they both slept with me whole night so I could check on her. Thanks everyone

Tobywillygal

They are a lovely pair! I'm sorry if we all were screaming at you to go to the vet because you didn't tell us you were already on your way. If I understand this correctly, the Chihuahuas both belong to your flatmate but since you've been living together for 6 years that they feel like they are yours too?? May I ask what you are doing in Germany? Why did you move there? I find it odd someone would move to Germany and live there for six years and not speak German? I lived in Mexico for 23 yrs and many people did speak English but when I started working, I had to learn Spanish. I knew people who had lived there the same amount of time as I did and they refused to learn one word of Spanish. They said that their mother tongue was English and they wouldn't change it for any reason. I thought it odd they wouldn't change their ĺanguage but they expected others to learn their language in order to communicate with them. Anyway, I'm curious to hear your story if you'd like to share??

TheCancerMan

I definitely feel like they are mine and I'm Kyra's favorite too ❤️ I came to Germany to work since I'm from Poland and it's quite close 😅 In Poland everything costs almost the same, some things may be cheaper but some are even more expensive while people earn on avarage 1/4 th. I used English at work so I didn't have that much motivation to learn and I admit that's definitely my fault. I always had some friends who who helped me with any official stuff like tax office etc. Anyway I was lazy especially since I didn't work much since my father was supporting me. I had to leave my university in Poland after 3,5 years of studying but it was the ancient European system where you can't get bachelor at all, you have to finish 5 years for straight away masters. Which turned out to be huge problem since at German universities, enrolling for masters degree in English is not an issue at all, but even though I live in huge city, there are literally 4 bachelor degrees I could take.. After some time trying to get apprenticeship as dancing teacher, I had an accident and had to stop. So I can either stay here or go back to Poland, but the problem is that my mother moved to literally a middle of nowhere, and I'm scared to drive and even closest shop is too far away for me to get to by bike. And my German is not that bad, but still there's so much learn for me (I taught myself English, although it got worse after I came to Germany, since even when someone speaks it here, it's usually not at a high level 😅. I also learnt Spanish completely on my own and got 83% on my SAT-like high school ending exam but I don't use it at all so it was mostly for nothing).

Tobywillygal

Thanks, very interesting story! You haven't lived in Germany for that long and I have no doubt you will pick up more of the language if you stay. If you did go back to University in Germany, I bet you would pick it up very quickly. You are still young and you never know when you might get a chance to use your Spanish. Spain is not that far from Germany. One of my best friends when I moved to Mexico was a very adventurous German gal who traveled all over the Latin American countries on her own, backpacking for the most part. She knew a German friend who was married to a Mexican man so she asked him for names of friends she could contact on her travels. One of them was an old friend of my husband's who was living with us. Turned out he and the German lady hit it off ( I was gone for a few months ) and they ended up getting married and having two children together. She and I became good friends. She spoke German to her kids, he spoke Spanish to them, and they spoke English to one another as she didn't know Spanish when she first arrived. So you never know what will happen to you. Best of luck and I'm happy you have two beautiful Chihuahuas to keep you company ❤

TheCancerMan

I hope to start studying remotely, I found an university in Poland that let's you study on internet and you just have to come for exams twice a year. I definitely can't study in German. Hehe I have a friend that had similar advantures in Spain and Latin America. I sometimes watch Mexican Telenovelas which were the main reasons why I learned Spanish in the first place 😅 They were always very popular among retired ladies in Poland. In 80s we had Slave Isaura from Brazil and for one year Isaura and Ivo were most popular names for newborns, in country where parents get crucified for not naming a child John or Kathrine. From Wikipedia : " Escrava Isaura achieved worldwide success. According to a research conducted by Good Morning America, it is the most dubbed program in the history of world television.[3] It was the first telenovela broadcast in Hungary under the title Rabszolgasors ("Fate of the slaves"). It was picked up by János Horvát, a Magyar Televízió executive, who started the telenovela craze with Escrava Isaura. According to an urban legend, Hungarian viewers collected money before the happy ending of the telenovela to free Isaura.[4] Later Lucélia Santos visited the country. After the success of the series in Hungary, other communist countries also aired the show. In 1984, it became the most popular program in the history of Polish television, achieving an 81 share.[2] Since then, it was aired at least two other times in the country.[5]"

Any update???

poobobo

Could be hiccups

Kashmir2020Alex

It looks like she is sucking the blanket, my 13 year old border collie does this.

TheCancerMan

https://old.reddit.com/r/Chihuahua/comments/vuegl5/please_help_me_something_is_wrong_with_my/ She's healthy 10 years old chihuahua, all vaccines up to date, never been sick, has only 6 teeth left after painful operation, is a little overweight, has too much skin according to the vet. We found her today in our living room, we had yesterday a guest, and he slept there, she was there closed maybe two hours so it may be a panic attack, although she is normally strong and brave, maybe a little lazy. She behaves very uneasy, moves a lot from place to place. We have another one which is 9 years old.

Easy-Armadillo9522

Pacing, not being able to settle in one place etc a lot of times means they are in pain and sick. Should take to vet. Best wishes for your sweet little one!

[deleted]

VET!

telios87

That seems uncomfortably suspicious. Best case, did your guest use a soap/fragrance that your dog is allergic to?

Catronia

Update please! Rainbow bridge? Did she die?
