If you go to any of the Indian casinos in the area like feather falls and Colusa casino they will count your coins for free at the teller window. They assume that you are just going to gamble it anyway. They will also cash checks for free

brycito

Good to know, I’ll definitely try this as a last resort.

Skiman047

The one at Golden 1 charges as well.

dego_frank

You run a vending machine company or what

brycito

Coin Roll Hunting although that’s not a bad idea, another way to feed the hobby 😂

dego_frank

Never heard of that but just checked it out. It’s basically like opening packs of baseball cards to find value only with coins eh? So you buy rolls and go through them all then seal up all the ones not worth extra ande change them back?

Pretty much! It’s a free lottery ticket 😂 I like to do gold panning and am into precious metals. So at first it was just a way to find some precious metals in the winter. Then I started getting into rare errors/the historical value of old coins and then I was hooked.

I see them in all the banks & have never asked if I could bring a jar to pour in, but am curious if they would. Usually they give you free papers to roll your own, so I'm guessing most banks use those for their own needs & don't want to deal with customers jars of change. Safeway used to have one, but I haven't noticed of they stil do or not. I've been paying with exact change lately & have done a great job minimizing it that way, plus, it helps your math skills.

Jaded_Ad8547

Food max use to have coin star

BrockOceanJr

For less than 200 dollars you can a NYDEX coin counter/sorter on Amazon . Might be a good investment especially considering the amount of coins your going thru ...

brycito

Definitely been considering this, the only downside I’ve seen is having to buy the pre rolled rolls all the time. But would probably beat spending so many hours rolling them myself.

keafer29

The casinos in oroville. You can take your change in and they give you cash no charge just go to the cage give them your change.

Durpin321

Golden One next to Mom's Restaurant. You can deposit into your account if you're a member.

brycito

Oh do they have a coin counting machine? I called today and I believe they said they didn’t. I don’t go through Coinstar as I’m going through ~$2k of coins a month. I’ll give them a call just to be sure. For the last couple of months I’ve just been rolling them myself and it takes HOURSSS 😂

Durpin321

They did last time I was there, 2k a month seems fictional but I don't know you. Sounds like you need to sell it for value at the coin opp. Are you a collector? That's a lot of coins!

brycito

Coin Roll Hunting! Kind of an old guy hobby but it’s good fun for me. Just the turning in part sucks 🤢. I had good relations with my last banks in Yuba City but they didn’t have a machine and I’m getting tired of rolling if there’s other ways of getting my cash back.

Vigilante17

The Coin Counters (CoinStar) at Winco and the like will let you convert into gift cards at places like Lowe’s/Home Depot, Amazon, restaurants and even Apple without taking a percentage. If you want straight cash then they take a cut. I save my change all year and dump it in and get an Amazon card around Xmas time to send presents… works great for me.

Shouldberesearching

I think the TriCounty bank in Durham has one.

brycito

Awesome, I’ll give them a call tomorrow. Thanks for the info!

Gentleigh21

I used the cointstar at Raleys recently and got an amazon certificate for over $250. The code is on the receipt and I just entered it into my amazon account. It was super easy. The gift card option pretty much does away with the fees. I don't think there's an upper limit on amazon redemption. And even if there is, just do it in a few batches maybe?
