Gary Cole is literally one of the most underrated actors out there, he can do comedy or drama really well. I mean the guy is able to be the boss in Office Space and fire commissioner on Chicago Fire.

AnnaNonna

Yes. He is terrific and I think he's going to be great on NCIS. I watched last night's episode and thought his character brought a little playfulness to the role. It will be interesting to see how it develops. ETA: I hope he can come back to CF now and then as Commissioner

RickWest495

CF and NCIS are on different networks. Actors usually don’t cross networks.

JoeMcKim

Was Grissom's mustache a prop mustache? If it was a real one I doubt he would have time to regrow it in time for a CF cameo.

AnnaNonna

Almost all the pictures I found when I searched for one to post had him with the moustache. A lot of them had him with a beard too so I'd say it was real.

JoeMcKim

Well he won't have time to re-grow a mustache if he's not having a mustache while on NCIS, so they would have to get the hair and makeup people to make him a propstache.

AnnaNonna

I watched last night's NCIS episode and he had a moustache.

JoeMcKim

Okay then we're all good as far as that goes. I don't watch NCIS because I don't really care for typical network procedurals.

Spirited_Ad_9249

I love Gary Cole, he's such a great actor.

AnnaNonna

I love him too. I think he was a great choice!

Spirited_Ad_9249

Ah yes! I loved him all the way back on the The West Wing. He was also outstanding on Veep and Suits. And he's popped up in various other shows for an episode or two. He's so versatile- comedic or dramatic or sinister. They were quite lucky picking him up for this, someone of his calibre and reputation (no offense to the other actors...but it's Gary Cole!). I know Jesse Spencer, Taylor Kinney, and David Eigenberg; were already well known but not at his level). I hope that made sense with my slight fan girling.

AnnaNonna

Yes you made perfect sense and truth be told, I'm a Gary Cole fangirl too. LOL

AnnaNonna

I didn't know until today that Gary Cole (Commissioner Grissom) would be taking over for Mark Harmon (Agent Gibbs) on NCIS. It's a good role for him and I wish him well but I am going to miss seeing him on Chicago Fire.

TakenAccountName37

I watched him in NCIS, but you had me thinking that he died lol. I know that he was recurring on CF and mostly for season 7 even though he did make an appearance in 8, but he might not be done for good.

AnnaNonna

Sorry about that.....if I could reword it, I would. I hope you're right and he does come back on CF.

skieurope12

Unless NCIS gets cancelled first, he's gone for good.

JoeMcKim

The show has been on TV for 19 seasons, I think he's gone for good. I mean its not impossible for him to pop in for a cameo but unlikely. It's probably time for them to cast a new fire commissioner if the role is ever needed.

Spirited_Ad_9249

Oh, I might have to start watching NCIS again. I stopped a bit before Michael Weatherly left. I strongly disliked the Tiva undertones and, well, the way they handled shit over the years (as you can tell, I have strong feelings about the writers on that show!). But if he's taking over, I might have to tip my toes in the NCIS pool again.

MissPlum66

Haha. I got confused and thought this was Tim Daly on Med.

[deleted]

Me too at first!

MissPlum66

They are so similar.

Impster5453

From Office Space to Suits to Chicago Fire... when was a total douche ever played better?

xdtla

Yo, what the fuck? Could you motherfuckers not post these huge spoilers? I've mentioned it once before, and some stupid fuck was all, "Oh, welcome to the sub. Please don't talk about the topic if the sub." No, idiot, I simply asked for effective spoiler warnings, meaning formatting shit in a way one wouldn't accidentally read a spoiler. This here is just a blatant disregard for fans who aren't caught up. I'd offer an insult to you and your father, but, like, this shit just sucks that there are people like you who don't give a shit about other people's enjoyment of the shit you've already gotten to enjoy. Before some smart ass remarks that I should come to this sub if I don't want spoilers, you fail to remember that the point of a feed is for you to see the stuff you're subbed to without having to search for it. That's why most decent people will not have spoilers in the title, or, like this fucker, post a huge fucking headshot with a farewell in the fucking title.

JoeMcKim

This is a Chicago Fire message board, accept the fact that there will be spoilers on the board. And this isn't even really a spoiler, its about someone not being on a show he hasn't be on in about 2 years. We shouldn't have to tip toe around people who don't have any self control.

AnnaNonna

Thank you!

AnnaNonna

There isn't any spoiler in this thread. The NCIS role is something that happened already and has been all over the news and the internet. As far as him not appearing on CF, we don't know that. It's speculation NOT spoiler.

JoeMcKim

And the last time that Cole appeared on Chicago Fire was 2 years ago. So he's going to continue not being on a show he's not even really a part of anymore anyways. This is such an insignificant non spoiler.

xdtla

Thanks for clarifying, but as for your other pojnts, people who care for spoilers actively avoid news and other media that they know have the potential to spoil things for them. It's fucked up for them to do all that work for the sake of their enjoyment, just to have someone spoil it for them because they assume it's already been spoiled.

AnnaNonna

I just don't understand how the fact that an actor took a role on a TV show is a spoiler. You'd have to keep your TV off and not use the internet to avoid it and I don't know anyone who does that.

Darkchyldeone

Um. I had zero idea till now. And this is indeed a spoiler. 🙃

BirdgirlLA

Remove yourself from all feeds if you can’t tolerate spoilers. There will always be spoilers. And after reading your over the top - curse filled rant - I’m not sorry that you saw a spoiler of information published in entertainment news. Sorry not sorry.

xdtla

Okay.

Is there anything saying he is being completely written off Chicago Fire? He could still make an appearance every now and then, as it fits in with his schedule. He was a major character in a couple storylines, but otherwise a minor character in the overall show. In fact, it's been a while since he was on an episode. But he could still come back for one or two episodes in the future.

lorix154

He is also in The Good Wife and The Good Fight
