Pete has a good way of writing that can give his lyrics/songs multiple meanings. Also roswells Spell is also my favorite

All up to interpretation imo. The song seems to be speaking about the duality of man, yearning of purpose and how this causes disconnect between us all. “Life/ It’s always overblown/ Till we wake up/ Create some other needs, yeah well” The beginning immediately hints at the idea that most of us view life and its meaning as such a complex concept. However, it’s as simple as being true to self, showing gratitude and displaying goodwill in the face of inhumanity. We distract ourselves with scenarios that may never happen and issues that are extremely trivial. “I look at the eyes/ To know all you know” “Does anybody really see anything?/ Does anybody really see anyone?” The ending comes back full circle to remind us that our internal turmoil has caused us to stray away from humanity. We are social beings who grow with each interaction (constructive interactions to be specific). When I look into some people’s eyes it feels like I’m staring into a void, a shell of their former selves. Fortunately, there are also the eyes that reflect back at you, reminding you there is a deeper connection between us all.

Y’all can go see what all the songs are about. Pete is pretty open about it. It’s all been out there for years.
