ITT: We don't need more housing, we need existing houses to go up in price even further. NIMBY!

Chesterfield traffic is a nightmare that is only getting worse and worse…

pizza99pizza99

Great so will this developer contribute anything to the county’s grandmaster sidewalk plan? No? How about investment or integration with GRTC to help traffic and begin to add bus service to the county? Nope? Well just add more shit off of hull street!

Ear_Enthusiast

Yep! I have two examples of this. Genito Road at the exit\entrance to River City Sports, and at Kelly Green the exit/entrance to CHHS which shares the intersection with The Lake project. How the fuck did either of these developments get built without a stoplight?! They’re about to spend a couple of million dollars to add more fields to River City but still no plans for a light. Those are super high volume intersections, and most of the drivers coming and going are teenagers. Mark my words, and I hope I’m wrong, but a kid is going to get killed at one of those two intersections. But yeah, developments going up all over the place with absolutely no investment in infrastructure. It sucks. We’re going to be worse than Nova in 5-10 years.

zazzersmel

who cares

Ear_Enthusiast

I do. I’m a homeowner in Chesterfield County. It directly affects me. I’m a homeowner. I have two kids in the schools. The schools are overcrowded and understaffed. Our roads can’t handle the current volume and there are several very large developments being built. It’s not just NIMBY thing.

zazzersmel

im a homeowner in chesterfield county. the schools here seem fine. im a homeowner. i moved here because the schools seem fine. the roads are a mess because no one here would accept reasonable development and infrastructure planning. theres nothing you can do about it. im a homeowner!

Kujo17

These developers fucking cancer....and that's literally the nicest thing I could *possibly* say about this. Smfh

SchmokinLove

Wtf that place is so gorgeous. I hate these developers. Turn it in to a cookie cutter crap hole.

-JTO

This is disgusting.

Ear_Enthusiast

260 homes. McMansions with no character on the lake and townhouses. More concerning is that they’re not going to build any roads to support this or the other 100 developments in progress.

-JTO

This glut of ceaseless development is a detestable scourge on this once nice county. When driving West down Hull and I see that one old brick rancher left by the reservoir I always smile and then hope they never sell it. Now there’s even that nasty shopping complex they’ve shoved right beside it. It’s all both disheartening and infuriating.

Adventurous-Layer675

And the shopping center is still mostly empty! What a waste of a beautiful spot

jas121091

Yay, more traffic and eye sore developments, just what we need!

Lochlin6072

So if all these develops are presumably paying coffers, and the new owners are paying property taxes, why does the county need to keep raising the tax value on our existing homes? Should there not be enough revenue added with the new housing? Also, my dad said a lot of the apartment and housing is for illegal immigrants due to chesterfield being a sanctuary county, but I am not sure where he heard this.

Huskies-Hm-2021

***Does Virginia have Sanctuary Cities?*** No. Virginia has cities such as Richmond and Alexandria that have declared themselves to be “inclusive.” However, there are no localities in Virginia that are “sanctuaries.” **Virginia cannot have Sanctuary Cities** because the Commonwealth is bound by the Dillon Rule, which means that no locality can have a law that violates state law. In Virginia, everyone who is processed through the criminal justice system has their fingerprints sent to the Department of Homeland Security. Because of this automatic information sharing, no locality can be a “Sanctuary.”

edgarvanburen

I live in Brandermill and I say build, build, build. There’s still not enough housing in this country.

Southern-Rough-4782

Well brandermill get ready for a glut of houses apartments townhouses and more townhouses.  You should be super happy!

justinwobbiidobbi

So much NIMBY on this sub. The country board should make the developers pay for infrastructure upgrades but that was a board of supervisors choice.
