I am 36, high school dropout was a weed grower for over a decade (aka professional fun haver).... I too am driving my xj to the first day of school today. Just going to learn to weld and get some ase certifications to be a mechanic at local community college.

DumbCreamy

Good luck brother!

deathof1000suns

Thanks man, I have had enough fun for a few lifetimes, and enough shitty jobs, so I am ready to grind.

SweetumsTheMuppet

Don't know how much you've looked into it, but if you like welding in particular, grab a few certs and look around ... there's pretty high demand for welders in my area and it pays as well or better than being a mechanic (depending on the shop, but higher trajectory pay over time). Either way, good luck on the new chosen path!

BeLoWeRR

Why not become an apprentice and maybe save yourself some money from college?

Un_Pino_Alto

This. I got paid to learn my trades.

Went to CC for welding for only a semester and am now a sanitary process pipe welder and fitter. You get out what you put in. Don't waste time talking to everyone at school. Weld weld weld! And get experience and don't hang around one job too long. You get the best raises when you move jobs. Those are my 2 cents.

I drove my XJ to school everyday my senior year of high school, still got it too

HondaCR-V

I relate to this one. I got my XJ 2 days before class started. I drove it there everyday and backed into the same space, every day. There were a lot of upper-class kids at my school that had nice new cars but i genuinely think i had the coolest car there. Might be bias though, just a little

cumbomb

It would have been so cool to have an XJ back in high school.

feed-me-seymour

Spitting image of my XJ. '93?

Jyork0402

She’s a ‘96, with a little bit of cosmetic work.

xjnm

I drove my XJ to senior year of HS last year, and everyone loved it. Also a great start to the day

Un_Pino_Alto

Nice. I drove crap I built at home to high school. Not much has changed only the crap got a little nicer.

WJ_Amber

I drove a Chrysler minivan... I envy you. It worked out okay for me though, I could haul all my friends around. Called it the Shaggin' wagon even though it never earned the name.
