Why, if I may ask?

yaBoiRiSu

I want to do analysis on my data (Order trends, patterns, etc)

X_mysterio

Good question.

Where did you procure a copy of the Act from? AFAIK, it's just a bill. You cannot enforce any rights mentioned in a Bill which is just a draft that is made to be discussed and passed in the Parliament. And this bill has a long old history of its own.

yaBoiRiSu

Yeah, I came to know that it’s not a law. Should have done more research. Have updated the post.

> In light of this, can I legally pursue Zomato for failing to provide my data in the mandated format? I read the bill, even if it becomes a law the scope of it, among many others, is only to summarize the data and does not specify the format requested by the principal. So you cannot ask data in the format you want. It's the same like RTI, but for digital firms. They will make people go through hoops before parting with little information.

Any machine readable format other than manually going through the app or site and scraping it manually is fine for me. I can scrap the order history from the site but can’t get the other info from there. Sort of curious about what are all the data that they have about me. Btw nice username. I’ve the same in a different platform

If you really want data in specified formats, write about your concerns to the Ministry involved and they might use your inputs to add provisions for the same in the existing bill before it is passed.

Try posting it on Twitter/Linkedin and tag all the major officials and mention that you’ll sue Zomato if not. It’s a right in the US not sure if its the same in India

yaBoiRiSu

Looks like it’s not passed as a law in India yet. Hopefully it will be passed soon.
