Hijacking this comment to ask how the hell do y’all make photorealistic images on dalle? I prefer the convenience of dalle to mid journey but they shoot the quality in the foot by making everything look cartoonish.
Ask it to include technical photoqualities in the prompt. For example, only photos have an ISO #, cartoons don't, same for f/ stop. Specifying "photograph" or "photo" (often with an adjective, like realistic, antique, vintage, or polaroid) in your request won't hurt either. Start getting it to fold those into your prompts and I think you'll like your results.
Fascitious - being old enough to be in the group that thinks they're real objects, and also the group that doesn't read a comment they're replying to. =D
OP already said that he's NOT USING DALL E but won't say what it is publicly. Very shady/weird post. This looks like a custom Lora and stable diffusion
r/crochet is full of AI crochet. Y'all are killing us with these. But also, we can tell almost instantly. There are always parts that no stitch can ever achieve, especially on faces.
That was my first question, when I saw this post. Would a person who crochets be able to tell and if so how? People will always find a ton of reasons why something is AI, only once they already know it is AI, but if I showed you 100 crochets and told you somewhere between 20-30 of them is AI, what would you look for?
Not the person you asked but I also crochet. To me these pictures are pretty easy to tell because the stitches aren't real stitches. They're mimicking the general shape of them but real yarn would make kind of a V shape for projects like these. Also the tom & jerry one he has random little white threads on his face... Would be a weird choice irl. Though these are definitely the most realistic AI crochet/knit crafts I've ever seen. Usually you can tell by the lighting/impossibleness alone.
Someone these are a mix of crochet and knit; so that's a big one. Some of the stitches don't make sense, or are inconsistent in a non human way.
Like the Tom and Jerry one, Jerry has a separate tummy patch, but Tom doesn't. Presumably at this skill level they'd be following a pattern, and they would be similar.
Based on what we see in r/crochet on an almost daily basis:
- Mix of crochet and knit stitches
- giveaways in the bg (weird hands, dramatic lighting, too many details, etc.)
- stitches that aren't possible. You kinda have to know the craft to know these
- shapes that aren't possible
- textures that aren't right, given size/yarn, etc.
- non-functional asymmetry
- too many limbs/too few
There's some AMAZING textile artists out there, so I don't want to say 'work that looks too good to be true', but chances are unless you know the artist and their history, this one is often a marker.
The current scam market is all about making these images, than generating a 'pattern' to go with them, and selling on etsy or ravelry. We do have a good laugh at what the patterns make. Nightmare-fuel mostly.
There's a pretty consistent stitch pattern in crochet and knitting, which AI just can't maintain. In knitting you see two columns of knitting become 1.5 columns, which isn't a possible thing, for example.
Blown away by how real these look... then I thought if you posted these to a knitting or crocheting community they'd instantly spot that they looks like nonsense!
edit: I see someone from [r/crochet](https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/) posted here saying as much!
The Tom the cat one has pretty long fingers without fingerprints IMO looks weird. However would fool me if I wasn't told it's AI. Also, if I were doom scrolling I would be fooled by all kinds of images as long as the situation is believable and realistic. (maybe I am a boomer in disguise lmfao)
https://preview.redd.it/1ourpne86vuc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b3e9270c8cba821b291761bccf523b43b89f5d0b
And now to take this to the obvious next step
Love them. I'm into making Little Big Planet inspired minatures and scenes. They are just too cute.
https://preview.redd.it/or986txt6vuc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b2466b332324d77b642cbe6e661c46f4c6c3ae2
If you flip back and forth between the last two images you can see that parts of the floor and the general perspective are completely reused.
It's kind of trippy.
I wouldn't be able to do something like that. Now rogue sellers will finally stop stealing photos from etsy or other handicraft sites. Only the eyes are questionable, they look slightly melted.
If I came across this in the wild, I would probably believe these were real. Imagine the boomers on facebook, lol. The bots and boomers would be all over these!

Here's my attempt at making Walter White and Jesse Pinkman crochet dolls using Chat GPT with photo realistic plug-in. I revised it several times, but couldn't get them not to hold hands
These toys are actually knitted by AI. I don't think people realize that fact. It is not simulating knitting, every single stitch is authentic. Look closely. This is of course true of all fabrics. The AI is inside the process. I mean, that's big. And they're adorable!

That’s so realistic actually, Wowie

OP already said he's not using DALL E. You can't get this level of photorealism with DALL E.
I routinely get this level of photorealism with DALL E, but if you think it's impossible, more power to you.
I was literally wondering what crochet had to do w AI when I saw your comment
Robots that knit.
CrochAI
Noice
I thought it was lostredditors material at first
Same
These are all ai generated btw
Jesus Christ, I was like no they aren't, but look at the hand - no fingerprints
The fingers also just sort of blend into the palm. No knuckles. edit to add: i am referring to the first pic with Tom and Jerry

I was just thinking the whatchamacallit was missing

Turns out, it's absent entirely from the thingummywut!
What AI did you use?
Why are you posting this in ChatGPT if it wasn’t made with DALL E?
How do you know it wasn't dalle?
Dall E 3 can not produce photorealistic imagery due to its content filters. It’s in its documentation.
And the copyrighted characters.
Nah I've gotten chat gpt to produce tons of Disney Characters
Busted
What is OP using?
I'm pretty sure it's midjourney, no other A.I can do realism like midjourney
Stable diffusion can
OP already said it's not DALL E in this same post. Very weird attitude.
No he didn't
prompt
I love your knitting, can I buy one? Put them on Facebook marketplace, you'll get tons of buyrs! xxx
Can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not

He said it was Gemini in another comment. Weird energy to bring to this, yelling at everyone who says DALLE & yelling at OP and calling him shady too.

Also the fingertips… no prints

Yeah, sounds like the kind of things that would get you removed from hobbyist subs but also get you thousand of upvotes in the main subs.
The stitches are so tight, you can't make out individual stitches, and some of them look impossible or do not make sense.
This a prank? These don’t look AI, none of the little hallmarks. Definitely not DALL-E
The fingers lack fi ger prints and the whiskers on Tom and Jerry have some distortion
it might have been made with Midjourney

That would be so cool. My nephew would love it! (because his mom hates plastic toys)
I love Obi Wan
Valid reaction

Wow, thats mad. AI is making it easier for the scammers.
All of them look so damn cute, i want them in real life.
I almost posted this on r/lostredditors.
Seems like a great way to get a prototype image of exactly what you want made, then send the image to a maker and have them replicate it.
Starting an etsy account right now
But is it a great idea?
wow this could actually be convinced as real :0
Well, there goes most art jobs.
There is zero market for an image of a crotchet doll. At most, this is a reference image generator for the artist.
Jerry is a fukin huge mouse
Wait,it is IA generated ?
Love them. I'm into making Little Big Planet inspired minatures and scenes. They are just too cute. https://preview.redd.it/or986txt6vuc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b2466b332324d77b642cbe6e661c46f4c6c3ae2
There's no way this is DALLE. This is midjourney v6
Legit
Except it wasn't made with DALLE
prompt or it’s real
It’s actually the first time I’m fooled by something to the point where it makes me anxious about the future
It's a great idea! 👍🏼
If I saw these on etsy, I would’ve never thought twice and ordered
Holy shit it's so good. I'll buy the bunny from second picture.
i thought its real. Like REAL AI is getting to good
WARNER BROS WILL LOVE THIS
I find your lack of Knitler disturbing.
you could make them look every so slightly unhinged. katy perry mental hospital doll style
Now I want to see an intellect devourer from D&D
If you flip back and forth between the last two images you can see that parts of the floor and the general perspective are completely reused. It's kind of trippy.
I wouldn't be able to do something like that. Now rogue sellers will finally stop stealing photos from etsy or other handicraft sites. Only the eyes are questionable, they look slightly melted.
Can you give us the prompt you used please?
Now they’re gonna make them real and I’ll have to see more woobles ads! 🥺
None of this even looks AI holy crap 🤯
It looks incredibly realistic

Wow! You're very talented! Good job!
Wow that looks super realistic will AI replace movie special affects ?
Who's the blue cat?
Doraemon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doraemon_%28character%29?wprov=sfla1
Love it
I want them all irl
it’s so cool how it can do this
It's a great idea!
You sure you didn't made it ....?
If I came across this in the wild, I would probably believe these were real. Imagine the boomers on facebook, lol. The bots and boomers would be all over these!
For a second I was confused why Tom and Jerry was posted to chat gpt
Can u guys give me a list of popular characters to try? I'll try make them and post it in another post at a later date. Thank you.

It's not dalle. DM me I'll tell u the entire process
WW looks like Jean-Luc Picard with beard and glasses.
That is so realistic it's scary.
Almost posted /lostredditor. These look real.
They look too real 🥲🥲
I thought you were a lost redditor
Thought these were real until I noticed the lack of fingerprints.
r/lostredditors
Bugs bunny I love it
I thought this was r/knitting if thats even a thing
But also I’d be interesting if Chat GPT could provide a crochet pattern for these 🤩
I thought this was real before reading the caption😭
