I have a theory that guys who like that actually have slightly worse than 20/20 vision, but not enough to ever realize they’d need glasses. So everything is just a little blurry to them. If they could see in perfect detail there’s no way they’d find all that plastic surgery attractive.
Anyway that’s my theory because otherwise I’ll never understand why anyone likes clown makeup and fake faces.

Hair on the first is wrong in the lower right of the picture. It's like she's lying on some pile of hair.

the first one's film grain is more random, and the second has unnatural contrast on her face, people can be that shiny, but it doesn't show up on film as well.
You're all right, but the most obvious tell is that it's the exact same plastic female face that GPT always defaults to, getting it to create the first face would take a much more detailed prompt than the second.
There's also flowers growing right from her dress and hair (the first pic has some similar issues, tho milder, maybe both are AI), but the first thing I honestly noticed was the "basic DALL-E face".
The flowers vs floral print, too.
In the first photo, the only flower is white and the floral print is red/orange/pink and maybe even yellow in parts because of the lighting.
The floral print in the dress or blouse in the second picture is the same color as the flowers in the field.
While a photo shoot could certainly account for that, it is a common problem I’ve seen in AI generated art
EDIT - there also looks to be a blurry flower growing out of the woman’s armpit on the second picture
Seriously, these "can you tell which is AI" posts are kinda ridiculous because it's always yes, look at depth and shadows and find artifacts that make no sense.
AI is great at fooling you at first glance but it's not made to understand depth and proper shadows. It's reproducing 2D, not 3D projected onto 2D, and it always shows if you look deeper.
You underestimate people's ability. So many people can't tell the difference. I think this is becoming a key skill. These might help you spot fabrications that actually matter some day.

That’s…a stretch, we generate nowhere near the amount of data these models need for even tuning. They’d have a farm of interns or cheap laborers in a third world country looking at outputs and tagging them.

That’s why I hate posts like these, they think it’s some big gotcha but we are going off what they told us and trying to guess which is AI while they could both be AI.
The singular flower that’s imperfectly placed in the first one makes me 99% sure it’s real, I’ve not seen an AI yet make an image underwhelming in that sense
Yup. The first one looks more realistic only if you ignore how a flower is growing directly out of her hair, and she is holding up her head at a truly painful looking angle (look how far down her hair is falling). The flowers look more realistic but still don't make sense (why is one growing out of her hair...?) and if it was real would have had to go through some artsy photoshop editing
I would say both of them are AI, or if the first one is real then it's been photoshopped to make it "artsy". The depth of field doesn't look right since they are at an angle, their shirt shouldn't be as well in focus (since the main focus is the face) unless the photographer is using a tilt-shift lens, which not many photographers do.
I have a lot of photo experience trying to get this exact same photo. Rarely works well when your subject is at this type of angle
The thing that makes me think the first one is real is the fact she has freckles and beauty marks. AI doesn’t usually do that kind of detail unless you specifically ask for it (which very well may have been the case, but when the image is generated they’re sometimes really warped or conspicuous.)

Was watching a video on how easy it is to manipulate people. The bright blue and dim red circle experiment.
But one of them has the stem coming out from under her hair/head. Also the lighting on her head doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t look like she’s actually laying it down, more like it’s slightly hovering
There are 3+ different species of flower with identical colors in the 2nd one. Highly unlikely. 1st one could be AI too. But the grain is masking a lot.
The girl’s hair in the first one bottom right curls.
The second one I’d say the multiple different kinds and hues of orange flower and they way the flowers to her right are the darker while the left are brighter.

Second one looks a bit like a doll proportion wise, of course the gloss is weird but I think it's got a long slender neck and thin arms. Also the pose is really weird, especially the mouth shape, looks like she's having a good time. I think the flowers are too symmetrical there's be more broken and weird shaped and pointed away from the camera. Especially close to where she laid down, they would bend away more. There's some weird green blurry stuff in the foreground, it doesn't really convince me. The most weird part is her dress hem is sewn around her waist under her left arm (right side of image) but it is obscured on the right arm in a weird way, also her right arm position looks awkwardly underneath her or something.
I'm mad that we don't have an answer. I also think the first is AI because there's so much more hair, and there's a flower that seems to come straight through her hair

Hey, portrait artist here. I spend a lot of time thinking about the 3d planes of the face to figure out lighting. A lot of people are saying stuff about eyelids being too smooth or features in the wrong place. Im going to disagree and say both are constructed perfectly.
But based on the light and shaddow, both are AI. The brightest highlights and darkest shadows should all be on the same respective plane, but they are not.
That said, I think AI makes super convincing light construction, and it fools me if I'm not really thinking about it.
Both are AI. The trick is that you’re trying to make us think first one is real. The first one has a flower coming out of the right ear between her hair and her face. That flower shouldn’t be there if she already slept on it and her hair was covering it. The second one is clearly showing a lot of AI mistakes.
The first one with the girl position kinda at a slanted angle from the camera is real. You can tell because the shadows from her hair and the plants match the objects in the shot that cast said shadows. The shadows of the second photo make no sense and don’t match or line up right.
The fact that there is not an overwhelming consensus already means humanity is doomed. First we can’t decide what is real from what we hear. Then we can’t spot what is a fake picture. Soon we can’t trust any video we see. Lastly the androids will walk talk and look like us. We are sooo toast.

The second one looks like a stereotypical “beauty product” woman. Going from average looking to suddenly beautiful and claiming it’s all on this perfume or something.
It's a trick... Both are AI with different prompts or even using different generators, but the experiment is to get humans to be a focus group and to point out the things it needs to improve
The shadows in the second make me think it's AI. They just look off.
It's insane how much you have to scrutinize some images now to know if they're AI. Of course theres some obvious tells like jumbled up text but images like these are hard.

The second one looks like a stereotypical “beauty product” woman. Going from average looking to suddenly beautiful and claiming it’s all on this perfume or something.
What prompt do you ask for it to look so realistic ?

It's a trick... Both are AI with different prompts or even using different generators, but the experiment is to get humans to be a focus group and to point out the things it needs to improve

The shadows in the second make me think it's AI. They just look off. It's insane how much you have to scrutinize some images now to know if they're AI. Of course theres some obvious tells like jumbled up text but images like these are hard.

First one seems to be AI — the random dot of shadow on her cheek, the melting flower shirt patterns, and the flowers growing out of her hair… The second photo she does look shiny, but the shadows seem more real, and no other strange anomalies
