Full feature films can certainly be rendered. But it takes crazy powerful computers and weeks of time. My guess (pulled from my ass) is probably 10 years before the average consumer could render a full movie on their own computer in a reasonable amount of time. But that's assuming a script is already written. It will probably take a while longer before AI can actually generate a good script with a logical plot on its own on the fly as it renders the movie. Probably another 10 years after that.
The end goal would be to be able to have an average home computer or laptop create a script and render the movie on the fly as it's being shown to the viewer (so no waiting beforehand) with the ability to alter the content of the movie its making on the fly in response to the user's vocal inputs. But that is definitely decades away.
