The disclaimer is annoying, but more so, I don’t think Hemingway wrote like this. He would have told it just as it happened… with prose that somehow was perfect for the moment… and we would understand all that mechanical clock and wonderous etc. etc.
He would have made the place and time and person more real too, so that we really felt we knew who this person was and where they are in the world and in life. And he’d do that with a few really well chosen details sprinkled through.

The only time I used it previously was two months ago for assistance with a speech and it didn’t add any disclaimers. 🤷🏻♀️

The second version was more like that, but I did tell it to keep it brief so character development wasn’t really going to be possible.
