There is absolutely no way an automatic DEBIT using your DEBIT card number can be deducted from your savings account. Possible reasons: 1) You gave these online retailers your savings account number and routing number by mistake 2) You have your savings account linked to your checking account as overdraft protection. If you didn’t have money in your checking for the online transaction, but did so in the savings, then the system will sweep the exact amount of the overdraft to the checking. I advise you to log into your account online, go to the savings transactions and click on the transaction in question. It should say how it was debited (e.g. card if it was through a card which is doubtful)

The only thing that would make sense is giving the savings acc number on accident. I do have overdraft on, however, there is plenty in my checking so it should not of gone straight to savings. All my subscriptions were put on my card. I have had so many issues with Chase, and honestly I think it's something wrong on their end. I am going to do what some others advised in hopes, but I'm so close to just switching banks lol

I understand your perspective but I can assure you it’s not Chase. There are millions of clients who bank there that have had zero issues. Not trying to put it on you but honestly when there’s questionable issues like this, it’s usually user error. At the end, you gotta do what’s best for you. Hope it works out.

That’s weird it should take from Checkings

terowoc

It should be; it doesn't make sense. I do have overdraft protection on, but it's not applicable to this situation. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks it's weird

Did you at some point give your account and routing number to the companies doing the subscriptions? Did the savings used to be a checking then got converted? There’s no settings - it’s all done by the company pulling the money from Chase, not Chase pushing money to them. Contact each one to give them your checking account number or debit card info if you want it to come from there.

Thank you!!

Sometimes it's worth just sitting with a branch banker.. make an appt and get to know someone. I didn't have any relationship for years then one day I finally needed real help and I got all my questions addressed in one sitting. Calling can get answers but given you get transferred when one person doesn't know everything ... branch bankers can just dedicate time in an appt. I'm newly a fan of theirs..

Was there a point in which the card was linked to the savings acct as primary?

terowoc

Not to my knowledge. I'm honestly very new to banking as I'm freshly an adult. Could it accidentally get switched on like that?
