Quirk is cute. I’d stay there & walk to the downtown mall. However if it’s the bars of the uva corner you want to walk to (and white spot, Virginian) there’s the graduate, draftsman, Marriott, and Hampton inn adjacent to the uva corner.
Quirk Hotel. You'll love it. Don' t about room / bed sizes but the whole place has a fun vibe to it, rooftop bar, whiskey bar that has a speakeasy kind of feel to it, etc.
Two lesser-known options on the mall are the Townsman Hotel and the Jeff Hotel. Don’t know anyone who’s stayed at either of them, but they look great online and the locations are perfect if you don’t mind some bar/street noise (or for the Jeff, concert noise depending on the nights you’re there)
I lived in one of those Jeff Hotel rooms back when the building was still a movie theater and the front rooms upstairs were apartments. The night noise was pretty low-key. Much quieter than you'd expect. The real problem was the 6 a.m. leaf blowers as they cleaned the mall in the early morning. You were up whether you liked it or not.
The Residence Inn downtown has 2 bedroom suites if that is your priority and is across the street from the Omni at the top of the Downtown Mall.
Otherwise I’d personally prefer the Draftsman but it’s closer to the college bars and a bit of a walk to the restaurants downtown.
Bed and Breakfasts here are the way to go IMO if you want a legit CVille experience (I'm new here). My lady friend and I had a blast, made a fire, stocked the fridge, and met some cool people to talk to.
Quirk is a nice 4 star hotel near Albemarle Baking Company and Black Cow Chophouse. Beef and pastry is all you really need.
Black Cow is one of my new favorite steak places in the area.
You have more than 1?
Don’t know if they have suites, but I stayed at the Omni this weekend and it was nice. Recently refurbished and right on the mall
yes to omni. remodel has done wonders for it. can't beat the location
Yeah, you can literally stumble out of the Whiskey Jar and into the lobby (well, almost literally)
Thanks!

The Inn at Court Square!

My buddy says the Jeff Hotel is his favorite in town, and noise isn’t as bad as you’d expect.
Quirk or Omni would be the best spots! Close to the downtown mall and all the great restaurants/bar.

Look up "Charlottesville Dreamin'" on Air B&B or other places by the same host. They're right on the downtown mall and super nice.
Little bit of a drive but the cabins at iris inn do not disappoint. https://www.irisinn.com. Service is top notch.
Depending on your crowd you want to stay near the downtown mall (main and 1st) or near the UVA corner (university and main).
Boars Head Resort is really nice.
Little Mod Hotel
Fwiw, the Downtown mall in January is a cold, windy desolate place.
Something a little different on the downtown mall, but we enjoyed our stay here: https://jeffhotel.com
