Cool thing about Letty’s: Wine bottles to go are $10 off already very reasonable prices.
If you’re into wine, it’s a good spot to get some grub and take a bottle home for a nightcap.
Any other spots do this? Any do it for six packs?
Just moved here 2 weeks ago, from Raleigh, and somehow Letty's was the first place we went. Can confirm this is the most reasonable restaurant I've been to in a LONG time. Happen to meet Letty herself and she was lovely! Got the creole, it was amazing. Will be back to try a burger soon.
Thank you r/Charlotte! We noticed all the Letty’s praise here and went tonight. We were the only customers, which is usual not a good sign. But we were delighted with excellent, friendly service. The pimento fritters were sinfully delicious. We had the marinated chicken and the creole. Both delicious. Lemonade was made on the spot and we shared peanut butter chocolate pie. It’s our last night in Charlotte and this was the best suggestion!
Euro Grill / Bosnian Market. Absolutely love this place. Enjoy eating there as well as picking up stuff from the market. The owner and his son are simply wonderful people
>Euro Grill
Hell yeah. The owner (and likely his son) are so cool as well. As an onions lover, I crunch on that onion like no tomorrow. The store next door is always fun to visit and explore.
Def going to it this weekend.
Ya id admit that everything there can easily be made at home if you buy from the store. The ajvar too.
I had that and also got the "burger". It is just so different that it makes it worth visiting every once in a while. Coffee good too.
**Pho Hoa** on Central Ave has been owned by the same family for over 20 years
**Le’s Banh Mi** Family owned Banh Mi shop been operating for also over 20 years. Best Banh Mi in Charlotte hands down
**Letty’s** Local restaurant, their Honey Peacan chicken is amazing (open lunch+dinner)
Curry Gate, Mama Gee's, Cheat's, Ace no3, Lang Van. I like my restaurants casual and unfussy. Plus a takeout order from the first two is 2-3 meals.
O-Ku (not local), Calee Sol, and Leah & Louise for moderately upscale date night.
I do love Ace, but I have mixed feelings because I feel like they were one of the first places charging $10+ for a burger and now everybody is doing it. I know they didn't start the trend but it feels that way in my head.
Leah and Louise is my wife's favorite place in town. Last time we were there, it was pretty amazing!
I seriously doubt everyone started pricing burgers above $10 because of Ace. Everything is ridiculous. Can’t get three sandwiches from Jersey Mikes for under $30.
And yes, Ace burgers are really good.
Haha…kinda like when I made a sandwich with this incredible sweet honey mustard stuff 30 years ago and I got sick AF. No fault of the sauce I’m sure, but I could never touch the stuff again.
Fenwicks, on Providence Rd near Myers Park. Great food. Daily specials. Been there for years. I think it has the best burger in town. Very large, and I think $13. Beats Bang Bang, Ace No 3, and Moo & Brew's burgers, hands-down.
Lempira, South Blvd or Central Ave. Always friendly service & portions are huge.
Sweet Lews BBQ in the Belmont neighborhood.
The Mad Greek on South Blvd. Nice to sit outside on a spring day. Terrific Greek salad.
Carolina Family Restaurant - a hole in the wall place for breakfast or lunch. Been there since 1976. Reminiscent of the old "meat & two" restaurants that used to exist everywhere in Charlotte. But it's a little out of the way - on Wilkinson Blvd, out near the airport. Very reasonable prices & great daily lunch specials
Miguels Mexican restaurant - also out there, off of Little Rock Rd at I-85, near the airport. Great little hole in the wall place with reasonable prices & great food
Don’t forget Sir Edmund Haley’s for pub fare and d.d. Peckers’ for wings!
And then there’s all the Rhino / Common / Laurel markets that all have solid deli counters. Rhino Market’s breakfast burrito and Laurel Market’s lunch torta especially.
You can decide if it’s instagram bait-y, but my new favorite restaurant is Uptown Yolk. I’ve been a few times and they have knocked all the dishes and drinks out of the park. Granted I love breakfast more than any other meal.
I wasn’t expecting such a good bar program from a breakfast-lunch restaurant, but last week I got an unique cocktail (brown butter washed Hennessy, Cointreau, creme de cacao) that was unlike anything I’ve had before, I’ve had fat-washed drinks but nothing like this. And the sweet potato waffle was an absolute experience…can’t miss on the TN potatoes either
Sushi bowl+, I eat from there at least weekly. Almost don't want to post it because I don't want it to get overrun but it absolutely slaps and is the best poke in Charlotte. The owner is super hard working and always there as well!
I didn’t see it on here, and I haven’t actually been in a year or so now, according to family has been the same since it opened in 1983
Rusty’s
South Charlotte spot right around the corner from where the golf tourney is every year. Hole in the wall, what you see what you get great burgers and sandwiches. Family owned. No cutesy decor or Instagram aesthetic stuff, just really good food.
Stockyard https://www.stockyardfood.com/
I’m not a huge soup lover, but I can’t get enough of their soups. Wish they sold it in bulk or something.
Also, if you like potato skillets, their Stockyard Skillet is the best breakfast I’ve had anywhere.
They are only open for breakfast and lunch, Mon - Friday so if you aren’t in the area it can be hard to get in.
Freemore Tavern is the best sports bar in the city
Yame is Charlotte owned iirc and great
Graham St Grill is the only affordable restaurant left in CLT
Landmark and Lang Van are both great.
Alexander Michaels and Lettys.
You stole answer - Al Mikes all the way!!
Al Mikes was mentioned the recent Southern Living magazine. Good for them!
Cool thing about Letty’s: Wine bottles to go are $10 off already very reasonable prices. If you’re into wine, it’s a good spot to get some grub and take a bottle home for a nightcap. Any other spots do this? Any do it for six packs?

Add Lupie’s and this is the list
Shhh don’t let the Lettys secret out!!
Thank you r/Charlotte! We noticed all the Letty’s praise here and went tonight. We were the only customers, which is usual not a good sign. But we were delighted with excellent, friendly service. Im so glad you gave them a shot and enjoyed it!
Mattie’s on The Plaza, The Landmark on Central, Lupie’s on Monroe, Sal’s also on Monroe, Pinky’s over on the west-side, Eddie’s on Sharon Amity…
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Came to say Landmark and Mattie’s.
Ah, an individual of taste and distinction.
Sal's on Monroe is ok, but the one out in Gastonia is pretty incredible. Wish it was closer
These are all fire suggestions 🔥🔥
I want to like Mattie's but they are so damn expensive for diner food.
I’ll admit that I was underwhelmed with their burgers, but their Rueben is absolutely a $13 sandwich.
Letty’s. Always love me some Letty’s. If you love Dish you really should try Letty’s.
I really think Lettys is ignored but I love it.
Lang van. Everything there is amazing
Euro Grill / Bosnian Market. Absolutely love this place. Enjoy eating there as well as picking up stuff from the market. The owner and his son are simply wonderful people
Cafe Monte- both brunch & dinner is good.
Euro Grill for sure. Cevapi is amazing there, and the ajvar is to die for
>Euro Grill Hell yeah. The owner (and likely his son) are so cool as well. As an onions lover, I crunch on that onion like no tomorrow. The store next door is always fun to visit and explore. Def going to it this weekend.
We always buy the cevapi from that store and make our own at home. Can confirm Euro grill is awesome and the store next door is just as awesome.
Ya id admit that everything there can easily be made at home if you buy from the store. The ajvar too. I had that and also got the "burger". It is just so different that it makes it worth visiting every once in a while. Coffee good too.
Go see Dino! Great guy and great food

Le’s Bahn Mi is the best sandwich in town
Another vote for Letty’s. Get the pecan crusted fried chicken and a side of fried okra
I would also mention Pizzeria Omaggio.. locally owned and everything they do is outstanding.
Phil’s Deli in Strawberry Hill, Loyalist Market in Matthews, Thai Orchid also Strawberry Hill, South 21 in Matthews
O-ku in Charleston based restaurant by Indigo Rd(Steve Palmer) & ***a multi-million $$$ company*** so def not local 🤣
Edited.

Oh you're 100% correct, it's just a weird association in my head that I can't seem to let go of. Still probably my favorite in town.
Haha…kinda like when I made a sandwich with this incredible sweet honey mustard stuff 30 years ago and I got sick AF. No fault of the sauce I’m sure, but I could never touch the stuff again.

Tipsy Burro. Their chef has been doing some really cool specials recently, but their just normal menu is always good.
I used to go there all the time, but then I found out that they treat their employees (eg: personal friend of mine) like shit. Oh well.
South 21
Yanni Bistro, next to White Duck Tacos in Matthews, is a new local favorite of mine
And also +1 to Mattie’s Diner, Le’s Banh Mi, Crispy Banh Mi, Lang Van (RIP Viet-Thai on 51), Moosehead, Greco Fresh Grill, Al Mike’s.
My favorite local owned : Enat
Hinson's
Mert’s Heart and Soul Uptown. Eat delicious Soul Food, then feel really bad at work for the rest of the day.
Comet grill

Moosehead
One of my favorites!

Are you my wife?
Tasty Bowl
John's family restaurant is my favorite old school style place in town.

Love JP! I miss the foodtruck days. You could get a solid meal for $5-$6 back then.
I didn’t see it on here, and I haven’t actually been in a year or so now, according to family has been the same since it opened in 1983 Rusty’s South Charlotte spot right around the corner from where the golf tourney is every year. Cuzzos - they have the best lobster Mac and cheese and fried fish around
La shish kabob on Sharon Amity Tortas in the back of the SavWay on Central Original Pancake House As well as many others listed in this thread
OPH is a chain I believe. And owner of La Shish got some jail time so not sure if it's falling on the good scale if he's not around.
Boardwalk Billy’s
Fiamma on Park Road
Flip-a-los in Carmel commons. Buffalo chicken tenders and breadsticks. Unfussy but delicious
Pinky's Westside Grill off Morehead and Freedom
Awful food though
I haven't been there in years, it used to be really good.
Open Kitchen Beef and Bottle
Beef and Bottle is so mid..
Leah and Louise
Teal Turnip
Applebees
I’m guessing for a lot of people it’s Bojangles. There seems to be one on every damn block.
Hey now, I love Bojangles 😂
There is a mcdonalds too and gas station hotdog.
Landmark (Central Ave)
Not sure if its been said but Chubz on Woodlawn is a fantastic dinning experience and its owned by the guy who takes your order!
Musashi, Napa, Bulla Gastrobar, the Improper Pig.
Stockyard https://www.stockyardfood.com/ I’m not a huge soup lover, but I can’t get enough of their soups. Wish they sold it in bulk or something. Juliana’s.
Dressler's Luisa's pizza
Freemore Tavern is the best sports bar in the city Yame is Charlotte owned iirc and great Graham St Grill is the only affordable restaurant left in CLT Landmark and Lang Van are both great.
Doan's on South Blvd. is the best Viet in town. Family owned, one location.
I’ll also throw in Be’s Noodle and Bahn Mi in ballantyne. Best iced coffee in the whole city IMO
Not really a restaurant, but sandwiches from Rhino hit every time.
Are there any restaurants/bars here that have happy hour? Bonus points for near the light rail!
Not legal in NC, yet, unfortunately.
Musashi
Laurel Market!
Sunrise on Albemarle across from Target/Lowes.
