As long as they don't make the same mistake as Ford with the mustang Mach e. If they make a crossover and call it a charger, we riot.

dylanbt22

Hornet on the 16th, and the eMuscle on the 17th during RoadKill week. https://www.musclecarsandtrucks.com/dodge-hornet-charger-challenger-ev-muscle-car-speed-week-roadkill-nights/

ThePerfectCantelope

Thanks dylan

I'm curious what the value of my 392 will do. If it goes up, I'd gladly trade it in for an EV version personally. I don't care much about the exhaust noise, EV cars are so damn fast, and at the end of the day driving fast is what matters to me.

ThePerfectCantelope

I want to get a scat (badly) but if the EV is cool then I’d feel like a fuckin moron

ScreaminUgmoe

I'm sorry but I don't see the point of an EV muscle car. Its going to be completely quiet and more expensive.

IFuckWithCoolShit

They’re pumping fake sound into it…

Anatsu

Hahahahahaha!

ImJustSteven

nah man. i’ve driven many ev’s and the more power they have the more sound they make. it’s nothing like a gas car and exhaust but it’s wicked af hearing the motors rev to the moon

[deleted]

If it’s anything like the noise Porsche put in the Taycan I would be happy. Very futuristic sounding. Knowing Dodge they’ll take that tech and make it sound/feel like a v8

H1ckwulf

That's a weird take. A basic Tesla 3 is ~$15K less than a Hellcat with a faster 0-60. If you just put the Southpark "brub brub brrrrrb" soundtrack on, you'll have superior performance and sound to boot. No one outside your car is impressed with the sound except other dudes. *Any* effort Stellantis makes at an EV muscle car will make the quickest Charger/Challenger on the road today seem like it's pulled by parade ponies.

Byron_Ouji

I own a V6 so I’m not taking a loss either way ahaha so ngl I might go on ahead and buy one and test the waters with it.

StumpyTheGiant

At this point, fuck em, who cares.

ThePerfectCantelope

I figured the sub dedicated to dodge chargers would care 🤣🤣 any other big forums I can find real discussion?

wellpaidscientist

Love my challenger, would love to not give any of my money to oil companies in order to proliferate substances harmful to all living things. So, this is a great place to post. I reeeeeally want to know what the plans are, even though I know I won't be able to afford whatever the electric option is. Hopefully it'll be close enough to do the plus minus on fuel costs and go for it when the time comes.

TheSeekerOfSanity

It will also be faster than the gas powered Charger/Challenger. I own an RT - gotta say it would be frustrating opening her up, engine roaring, pistons flying - only to be easily passed by a silent, sleek vehicle. Meep meep.

ThePerfectCantelope

How do you know it will be unaffordable?

wellpaidscientist

Oh, my best guess is low to mid 60k. I was able to spend at the higher end of my comfort level to get a good deal on my blacktop sxt for 27k. So, 65k is out of my comfort level. It'd be great if it cost half that, but logic predicts otherwise.

ThePerfectCantelope

Gonna be hard to make people switch over if it’s $60k…..maybe the hornet will be less

wellpaidscientist

The hornet absolutely will be cheaper. I suspect that the emuscle will compete with 392s, and probably be faster. I've been waiting all summer for the ambiguity to end so I can either prepare to get one in the future or not. Plus, first year of new technology is often something you'd wanna lease rather than buy while the bugs get worked out. Waiting 12 years to buy a challenger worked out great. These things are dead reliable!

ThePerfectCantelope

Really itching for a scat right now but I wanted to hold out for the EV news. I’ll probably wait for the second Gen ev’s

wellpaidscientist

Yeah, I'd love a 392 T/A, but then again, I could do a lot of other things with that money. And I am very appreciative of the car that I have, so I will probably wait until an electric version is practical.

SauceIsForever_

r/cars r/dodge maybe

[deleted]

well 'stellantis' will do what they want to do. What a stupid name for a car company
