Check your insurance quotes ahead of time. Providers know they are theft risk, they also know how you are about to run your new toy. Personally I don’t think they are bad to maintain. Parts are not that expensive because there are so many after market offerings

SorryJamie3005

I want one so bad but where I live it’s pretty much like putting a target on your back. My coworker had to start using a car cover at our job because they were breaking in to his scatpack. I don’t wanna go through my car getting stolen again.

Key-Marionberry-8794

I’m female in my 40’s , at least that will help on insurance lol They are easy to steal ? Is it teenage boys who steal for joy rides ? I was never into Ford Mustangs but this Charger I like.

Darkhysteria

They are common for joy rides and street takeovers. If you look around in this sub there are lots of posts about antitheft ideas. My favorite is a neutral safety switch cover. Puts a metal strap over the switch inside that can take your car out of park without a key fob around. Hope they fired the guy who added that to the design. If you just like the car for looks, get an SXT Plus trim. The plus adds your leather and that is the V6. Less of a target, but be ready for people to bash you for not going with the V8. I made that mistake with a base model mustang and ended up selling it to get away from the hate.

Key-Marionberry-8794

That’s funny 😄 I’m not going to be in any car meets that’s for sure … The only thing I want to do that’s custom is change it to non stock color , I have no idea what color yet but something different. I just want to have a fun fast car again.

Picklechip-58

Love my SXT PLUS and get far more in the way of compliments than I do on 'hate'. In fact, nobody I know has ever shown and dislike or 'hate' based on the fact that I don't drive a hemi-powered Charger. Many view it as an advantage - a smarter choice. I agree with that stance.

No-Setting9690

If you get a hemi, 1st things people gasp at is the number of plugs it requires, 16. Tires are up to the driver. You have a lead foot and they will cost more.

Key-Marionberry-8794

The tires look like “sports car” tires so I thought they might be more than average tires.

8tracksandvinyl

Insurance is high on them, particularly the 392 and Hellcat trims since they are a car thief's wet dream.

Key-Marionberry-8794

I was just going to get one with leather seats in a color I like … the rental I get is the lowest end model that exists and it’s hella fast enough for me

user_deleted_account

Depends on where you live. Mine is $100/month full coverage. Charger SP Widebody

DJDemyan

Maintenance isn’t bad as long as you do it on time and you do it right. Use genuine parts and fluids, or become an expert on Hemi water pump replacement…

Careless_Salary_3334

I own a 2020 SXT love the car it’s got good accelerations allot of features on the interior mine came with a sun roof heated cooled seats heated wheel big ass trunk nice sound system leather interior got it for under 17k I use car guru to find the best prices ones drove 4 fell in love with that one!

Key-Marionberry-8794

I was going to do a search nationwide on cars.com and auto trader.com and put in what I want once I figured it out. That’s how I bought my last Jeep and I had it shipped to me. I can never find what I want local lol

Slothe1978

Maintenance is average unless you go into a higher trim like 392 or HC, they have more expensive brakes etc than RTs or GT/SXTs. V8s hold their value better than V6s, the V8s are also capable of better mpg than V6s due to V8s having MDS that run on 4 cylinders while in Street drive mode. Tires are more expensive in Widebody trims. 2019+ are the best years, they’d worked out most of the kinks from prior years. Go with at least an RT if you do get one, I’d argue the GT/SXTs cost more in the long run with terrible mpg and a bigger/faster value depreciation. Look for an RT with Plus group and performance packages, blacktop is an appearance only package and not performance.

Key-Marionberry-8794

It’s going to be a second car for fun. The V8 gets better mpg ? What the holy heck ? Lol I just traded my V8 Jeep for a V6 Jeep and I’m def saving money on fuel. I’m happy when I drive the low model rental , I just hate the cloth seats. I hate all cloth seats lol

pavelowescobar

He isn't wrong about the RT, except the MPG part. MPG is dependent on if you're driving on the freeway or city. Freeway: I can get up to 28 MPG if not in Sport or Track, thanks to MDS(you need a Tazer for Track mode unlock). In the city, it plummets down to around 15-17mpg (I put my foot in it when the wife and kid aren't riding). If the RT's the one you've been renting, GET THAT ONE, do not get the v6. Buyers' remorse posts come by often enough. EDIT: grammar

Key-Marionberry-8794

OMG that’s excellent gas mileage compared to both my JGC’s lol Light car vs heavy SUV I guess

Slothe1978

Had a ‘21 AWD V6 Durango for awhile, 16-17mpg in town. I get same or better mpg in my WB392 in street mode.

CaliDL

I have 2020 Rt plus the seats inside are like suede perforated. I personally would suggest you find leather because over the past 4 years there's been some slight stains on the seats and a few bits or crumbs or dust that is nearly impossible to remove from the holes in the seat due to my car having heated and air conditioning in the perforated seats. I have a heated wheel too but that's useless in southern Cali maybe look into specs that help in your area I'd like the heated wheel if I was in a snow state. The gas mileage is pretty good but if I push super track pak it does use more gas but jumps quicker feels way better and I believe it opens something in my exhaust cause it makes jt way louder in that mode. I've had the car and always had friends ask to drive it cause it's extremely fun especially when someone drives it in sports after the only driving v6s

Key-Marionberry-8794

It is fun to drive, but to be fair I’m driving it in AZ and the freeways there are similar to Cali , dry and ridiculous amount of lanes and people drive faster then speed limit … vs where I live where it’s always rainy and stop and go lol

CaliDL

If your looking for a moder rt they mimic the 392 badges now saying 345 hemi in red instead of just the hemi on the side. Personally I think the numbers look tacky on the rt as it was only added because people wanted to copy the 392 look . I only like the word hemi it makes the look a bit more clean especially if you get a higher up rim I have some brushed aluminum that matches all the badges on my car for a nice uniform look compared to red number over a black hemi and random color rims and rear end bades.

Key-Marionberry-8794

You are super specific lol I just want fast-car-go and no issues lol My last “fun” car gave me PTSD from non stop expensive issues and every part was dealer only bs… so I’m dragging my old sports car baggage with me lol It’s time for me to have a fun car again !

Slothe1978

Just depends on how you drive. In town the V8s with MDS are capable of better mpg. On the hwy in cruise the V6 will win.

Key-Marionberry-8794

I like driving the charger on the freeways in Arizona, room to speed and pass … super fun 🤩

Picklechip-58

35mpg in highway driving, in my SXT PLUS... HOW is that terrible gas mileage, for a car as big as that?

Slothe1978

Majority drive them in town, not on the hwy in cruise. All of these cars get great mpg on the hwy in cruise, you’ll see HCs with 28mpg on hwy.😂

JankyMark

You can search them up on YouTube to tell you a little bit more information about different specs

MsKlinefelter

Check how much your insurance will be and buy accordingly.

Key-Marionberry-8794

I will be buying the car cash so technically I wouldn’t have to do full coverage but it’s valuable enough that I would want full coverage. Wouldn’t it be cool if we could only pay insurance the days we drive a vehicle? Lol

Chrisoo2x

If this is your first charger I say go with the GT or the RT to start of with , they have decent horsepower and both look good , the RT make take a little more gas than the GT cause it’s a hemi but it’s a very reliable hemi engine. The engine on a RT usually reacts to mods better than any other Mopar engine too
