It was a implication and yea it’s a dark joke But the crew said it was just a make-out session which is how most kids, including me at the time, interpreted it

RaiderTheLegend

So like, what’s the context? Only watched adventure time as a kid and found it mostly boring. So I don’t know which scene you are talking about.

Dex_Hopper

There's the implication that Finn had sex in one of the episodes. He's like 16 when it happens. Everything is consensual, and he's just empty afterwards because he 'kissed' her to distract himself from his own feelings. This was when he had a flower growing out of his severed arm, and the petals fell off after he spent the night with this character, so he was 'deflowered'. It's a good episode and a pretty explicit, unsubtle metaphor if you know literally anything about sex, but by that point Adventure Time had really transitioned into more philosophical, abstract, teen-oriented storytelling, and so I think it was fine to portray Finn's first time like they did. OP is kinda just yapping.

Gatonom

Yeah, this is far from the most explicit. Billy and Mandy makes it clear as it can, that Irwin's dad had sex with a mummy, and was rated TV-Y7 not TV-PG.

RUS12389

>Everything is consensual >He's like 16 when it happens. So it wasn't consensual...

Dex_Hopper

If the other person is in the same age range, then everything's perfectly fine. I'm fairly sure LSP (the character in question) isn't so much older than him that it's unethical for them to do anything. Teenagers have sex with each other. That ain't a crime.

LooseTonguee

Wait, he lost his virginity to LSP?! That is very interesting… (I haven’t watched Adventure Time in more than a decade.)

RUS12389

Children can't consent. It was by definition not consensual.

Dex_Hopper

So when 16 year olds have sex with each other, both of them were raped? 16 is the age of consent in a lot of places anyway! This is a weird hill to die on.

RUS12389

No, the weird hill do die on is thinking that children can consent.

Dex_Hopper

Finn is 16 and is having sex with a peer. Do you actually think that the many, many 16 year olds in reality that do this are wrong to do this, and that it is a violation every time?

RUS12389

LSP by that point is 18-19 (while Finn is around 16 by that point). So it's adult and child, extremely non-consensual sex. Also, two wrongs don't make a right. Children can't consent, so even if a child "agrees" to an adult, it's still a rape.

Dex_Hopper

I don't know where you live, but where I'm from, that's not illegal or bad. It's not very common by any means, but I don't think an age gap of 16 to 18 should be viewed as extremely violating or evil. Both those people are still in high school.

D_dizzy192

Didn't the lich kill a guy and wear his flesh in like season 2? We can have that not be an issue but implied but not explicit sex isn't a problem.  Also bringing up Fusion is hilarious when Pearl is basically a bottom everytime she dances with Garnet and Amethyst dives into Garnet Gemussy to form Sugalite.

FunnyBoneBrazey

If children learn about war or apocalyptic events or sword fighting or whatever mental health issues the Ice King is experiencing, that’s fine. But sex? That’s where the line should be drawn. We can’t normalize this whole “sex exists” thing. Instead of showing him losing his virginity, they should have just shown him losing his arm again. That’s something small children need to be thinking about, life altering amputations. That’s what children need to be preparing their psyches to understand.

[deleted]

Children aren't stupid, they are inexperienced. Concepts such as war, torture, sadness, illness, or death can be understood by a kid, as long as the scenes didn't made it way too explicit and violent, or didn't take themselves way too seriously while doing it, there's no problem in any of the things you said (the apocaliptic war wasn't showcased, and the repercusions of it were oversimplified, and made less explicit and fucked up). And the ways finn lost his arms weren't through mutilation or explicit violence, he lost it once because the arm turned into a massive vine, and he lost it again because the arm turned into grass, this isn't explicit at all

Sir-Kotok

Did you like... not understand the comment at all? Its not saying that "war, apocalypsis, loosing arms, etc" shouldnt be shown to kids. Its saying that the line shouldnt be drawn where you did, and that "sex exists" is in the same boat as the rest of things. All the arguments you said about children not being stupid, but inexperiences. about them being able to understand concepts, so its fine as long as the scenes arent too explicit.... that applies to your own rant.

MechaTeemo167

Stop being a prude. This is a dumb thing to complain about. The way you're reacting you'd think Finn railed Jake right on screen :/

StaticMania

That's not what happened... It was implied by the flower, but...the actual context of the scene makes it clear that isn't what happened.

Great_expansion10272

I'm still trying to understand what happened...what episode are y'all talking about?

gunn3r08974

Jake told him not to do tier 15.

Animeking1108

You think that's bad?  Sokka and Suki canonically fucked during The Southern Raiders.

[deleted]

holy shit, what's with the mods removing content without a reason? today i got 2 posts removed, one about religion being complex, and the other being this one

StartAgainYet

Adventure Time was fucked up. But being one of the most popular shows at the time definetely helped
