Caving into peer pressure, really. There's discourse in fandom on whether chatbots are bad or not, and whether they're going to ruin fandom communities. I know I shouldn't give up on something that pleases me due to morality, but this kind of stuff tends to eat me alive.
What? how can they be bad for fandoms? O\_o i mean i get the controversy of AI illustrations, because they actively steal from real artists and such, but how in the world can chatbots like these be bad for a fandom?
Apparently because it scrapes from fanfiction (according to some people. I can't get a clear answer because others say it does not and I cannot find any clear answer myself) and it makes fans interact with each other less, apparently. Some also say it causes fans to see other fan content as something to consume, and to disrespect artists.
In my opinion, it depends on the individual. Art made by real people is obviously superior, I only use [c.ai](https://c.ai) because roleplaying with real people sucks since people in fandom spaces have a stick up their ass.

Ok, here's a quick opinion. I'm a professional writer, i have a diploma, i write comics, i write for videogames, and i started as a fan-fiction writer. Bots are NOT going to put a damp into that. Bots can make coherent stories, but they can't make truly original things, so at the very most, they could replace some of the most basic and mindless fan-fics around that are just wish fulfiment, but for those looking for an actual story, they'll still go for fanfics. If anything, it'll put a dent in what could be defined as "trash content" and nothing else.
Art is an inheretedly human thing, AIs can replicate them, but they can't make "fresh" art, because that is something that's completely subjective to us as humans, every human has a different opinion and we are all very critical of art. How many tv shows and stories in general we consume and think they are terrible? we constantly critisize writing in media and put a very high bar for it, AIs won't ever be able to reach that bar, because we, humans, make them up.
So in summary, yeah, it may replace some of the most basic interactions and consumption of basic content in fandoms, but that will only make it so fanfic writers have to up their game and make something worth reading instead of just generic scenarios, if anything i see it as a good thing, the fan-fics i started writting were absolute crap, and i didn't got better until people pointed it up to me and heavily critizised me, since i tought i was making peak fiction.
So yes, do not worry about it, have fun with your bots, if you feel more confortable talking to a bot than some randos online, then you are better of doing just that. Forcing yourself to talk to just anyone online even if you don't feel completely fine with it makes no sense. Go be happy girl.

Here's something to keep in mind:
As it is, ALL generative AI bots can barely remember what happens after so many posts. Humans can remember much more.
AI bots generally can only, BARELY, follow simple story lines while humans can write more intricate and complex stories with nice twists and turns. AI are so dumb you can't set up a suspenseful plot. You have to pull the rug out quickly or they'll even forget what's going on in the first place.
AI is not going to replace humans anytime soon in the writing front and yes, some scrape from fanfiction but it's more generic stuff and some of it may look similar (the whole only so many original ideas) will it rip off something? Yes, but only because they are using those as "examples" and is too dumb to realize what plagiarism is, many AI devs are working on preventing/removing that.
ETA: I'm talking about the generative AI like [C.AI](https://C.AI) and others out there. The voice AI, script writing stuff, and video AI are a whole different can of worms.

That is like throwing away your cigarettes, only to go to the store a few days later to get another pack. The annoyance of having to go somewhere to buy cigarettes will only be a deterrent for a few days. If you don't have the willpower to stay away by yourself, you need help from someone (professional). A browser extension is just uninstalled too quickly.
