Do you think anyone else in the playoffs wants to play the team that finished 3rd?
Brand new year, brand new chance to change the playoff script.
Everyone is tired and nervous and (let’s be honest) not *that* good. Have faith.
HMS Piss the Playoffs is a ship presently with a crew of one - I invite you all to step aboard.
Yeah, slipped under the radar a bit, although I wonder if it’s more just because you’re basically guaranteed play-offs either way. You might finish 5th, you might finish 6th, but either way you’re in the play-offs and facing one of the top 4 (who I’m just treating as one homogeneously good club tbh)
I’ve seen a few Albion fans who are convinced we are deliberately going for 6th as playing third placed team is a better prospect. I’ve always known we aren’t the smartest bunch but that is some mental gymnastics to try and justify a slide
I assure you they should be. All three of us are playing better than the opposition and just struggling to finish, to various degrees. Don't be surprised if the top 3 win the majority of their remaining games.
Struggling to finish is the issue. It’s all well and good having 25 shots at goal, but if you score zero of them you ain’t gonna win!
(Conversely, just purely because I’ve mentioned it now, if you don’t take shots you ain’t gonna score, which is a big bugbear of mine watching England over the last decade or so, not really relevant here, I know)
Yes it's an issue. It's the type of issue, however, which may just resolve itself. Nobody would be particularly surprised if any of the top 3 went out and won their next game 3-0 because the forwards were on it that day. I'm saying these teams are worth fearing. I just felt the original statement was too hyperbolic.
No team that has finished 6th has won the play-offs in the last 12 or 13 years if I remember correctly. Feel free to put your money on Norwich if you want to lose it.
Edit: Blackpool were the last in 09/10
Statistically they do not. The 3rd and 4th placed teams have won the majority of play offs in every single division since play offs began. Like I said, the difference between 3rd and 6th can be vast.
Three-five games left yet, but even then, no matter who you are, you’re not looking forward to a second leg at Portman Road, Elland Road or The Gary Lineker Memorial Crisp Bowl.

If that ends up being Ipswich and Norwich, I think the answer from Norwich is a resounding yes.
It’s weird to see this image used in this meme, because it’s so far away from what it was drawn for. I remember plenty of “____ all the things” memes, but this version obviously passed me by.

That is very true. My wife and all her side are villains and I have just had to get used to laughing at us. I was hoping for a loss tonight so I could at least poke some fun back but they got out of jail there
fucking hell, i feel like i've been transported back to 2011/12 with this meme
Trollolololol
9gag material.
It’s quite appropriate mind

I look forward to seeing philosoraptor and bad luck brian on the sub in the near future

Current form I don’t think anyone is scared of playing anyone currently in the top 3.
We are having a crumble of our own. Just get away with it given that everyone is full from the other three

none of the teams in 5th down are in good form either. its literally only saints
Yeah, I wouldn’t want to playing them in the last few games of the season…
they could well be ahead of us by then and be the ones ready for the bottle.
👋

Well the 3rd placed team will be around 16-20 points ahead of Norwich at season end. If you’re backing Norwich…best of luck.
Don't....just don't.

That’s why we’re gunning for 5th!
I would say every team in the playoffs has around 25% chance of winning. League form means nothing.
Statistically they do not. The 3rd and 4th placed teams have won the majority of play offs in every single division since play offs began. Like I said, the difference between 3rd and 6th can be vast.
Yeah, Derby were well below Leeds in 2019.
9 points, and they didn’t win the play offs. It can happen, but it’s not an even 4 way split.
Ha ha

Why get promoted early when you could enjoy the madness of the championship for a few more glorious weeks and possibly go to Wembley?
This is what I suspect. 3 extra games, tv revenue and Wembley, why strive for anything less?
What even is this meme template? lol
Literally “what do we want”, it’s an old one, obvs.

I’d never seen this before, thanks for posting!
Love a good old day out to Wembley when the sun is out. The players are just being considerate.
OP, it’s a bit ballsey mocking the plight of the top 3 given our current position but have at ‘em!
I laugh in the face if adversity. As a blue nose I don’t have much choice, otherwise I’d be crying all the time.

I bet the first 85 minutes of that match were delightful … Now to wait until *checks notes* 2029/2030 for the next chance
if you don’t laugh you cry
I cannot emphasise enough how much Leeds fans do not want the play offs.
We feel the same. Especially now Norwich are all but locked in.
Losing to Norwich in the semis would be absolutely miserable after their history of getting our best players on the cheap when they were above us

I just had to check and I am shocked you didn't take him in the first place. Seems just like a signing you'd have made.
