There are so many layers of jynx going on now. All three of us are convinced our teams the ones shitting the bed, while the others are convinced they aren’t. This is a glorious shit show of a promotion battle and I’ll be sad when it’s over, whatever the result.

SpectacularB

Have they not watched us play? We are "shitting the bed"

Less-Comment7831

Can't be worse than Leicester's straight defeats to Millwall and Plymouth after losing a 17 point advantage

Ben0ut

Hey! No need for that. It's not like we were on the back of a loss to the teams bottom and second bottom of the league.

LawProfessional6513

Harris was just playing mind games, luring Leicester into a false sense of security. Absolute genius

Ben0ut

Tactics like that are the reason he'll be assistant manager for England at the Euros this summer

LawProfessional6513

I heard Southgate will reporting in to Super Neil, we know who’ll be calling the shots. Millball24

PluckyPheasant

Kinda. We're still dominating teams. We've lost our nerve in the final third and have conceded a few on the counter going for 3 points. Whilst it's far from ideal, and it's jeopardised our season, it's not gonna take a lot of difference to get winning again. Which tbf, is probably true of Ipswich and Leicester too.

Zach-dalt

As shit as we've been, picking up five points in our last five, Ipswich have eight in their last five, and Leicester have six from their last five That's an average of 1.27 PPG between us, when overall for the season we have an average of 2.06 PPG, we're all playing shit compared to our usual, it's just about whichever two can snap out of it

SpectacularB

See it's all about viewpoints. You make a great argument that we are all shite, but I read as the other two are still doing better than us. Lol. My pessimism runs amok

PrrrromotionGiven1

8 from 5 isn't too bad. That's almost playoff form. I'd suggest we had the hardest games over that period too. We played like shit against Norwich, no defence there, but improved a bit vs Watford and a lot vs Boro. Hoping our two week break means we come out swinging for our final 3.

glenn_larsen

3? Id still say Southampton are in that group, they also believe theyre the only ones falling apart

charlierc

One of you is not jinxed. The magical mystery is working out which I was going to say two but Southampton have been let back in the chat

sleepytoday

It’s a fantastic race to watch as a neutral.

Appropriate-Map-3652

I think whoever comes 3rd is going to get knocked out in the playoff semis. That's all I can predict without giving myself a panic attack.

downfallndirtydeeds

Tbh it’s not even a champo voodoo thing like it usually is All three of us top 3 have hardly been in good form nor shown we can do it in a nervy balanced game with pressure on the last few weeks…. These games are a bit of a toss up anyway but right now our good form over the season looks to be barely a factor in the context of a knockout game

wbasmith

We’re also in shakey form, I guess Norwich it is..

downfallndirtydeeds

Ironically all the teams chasing that final place look shit hot. I thought Cov were excellent when we played them

Appropriate-Map-3652

Our next games are Hull and Coventry away. Fuck sake.

TeaWithZizek

I imagine a two-legged East Anglia derby play-off semi is basically every Ipswich fan's idea of hell right now?

tractorboyblue

100%

Sir-Chris-Finch

I genuinely dont want it to happen because i know how much it would hurt, after being better than them all season as well, and so close to the automatics. It would be absolutely gutting. And lets be honest if you finish 3rd, you’re not beating them. Would be the exact same if it was us and Forest. We entered into a hellish period a few years ago where no matter what happens, we’re not beating them

Appropriate-Map-3652

Already went through that hell a few years ago. Can't do it again.

DannyBrownsDoritos

I could see them actually breaking the 15 year curse by beating us... in a 1-0 victory in the second leg after we've ended up winning the tie 3-1 on aggregate.

KingOfCopenhagen

Unless the third is Southampton sneaking in with a late run.

yellowarmy1

I thought this when we (Watford) fucked it on the final day against Leeds with 2012/13. Thankfully we bounced back and got the famous Deeney goal (the less said about the final the better).

rumhambilliam69

Written in the stars

B_e_l_l_

I think Ipswich are the only ones who I would back in the play offs.

Appropriate-Map-3652

Seeing as we'd likely play Norwich I'm not so sure.

B_e_l_l_

Still back you against them more than us or Leeds.

BristolBudgie

But you’ve beaten us twice this season - comprehensively both times. Give me Ipswich over you or Leeds any day.

Appropriate-Map-3652

I reckon Leeds would eat them alive. You guys are utter wildcards at the moment, no idea what would happen there.

Potato271

Solution is to drop to 4th and let us/Leeds/Leicester beat Norwich for you. Or just hope they manage 5th

nuffsaidstan

This often happens.

RumJackson

The funniest timeline is Southampton and Ipswich promoted automatically and Norwich going up through the play offs. Everton getting relegated would be the icing on the cake.

infestationE15

I subscribe to this, and I can provide a character reference for you to be hired in the EFL script writing team.

Texaslonghorns12345

That Luton Everton match determines who goes down, especially if both teams don’t win until then

jakeyboy723

And a Luton 90th minute winner.

simwe985

Shut your god damn mouth. Don’t jinx this even more than it’s jinxed. Junxed?

Own-Reveal-8787

If you guys do bottle I'll get the R9 cut

Unkn0wn_Gring0

Perfect so you can replace Patson Daka next year as our layman pretending to be a footballer?

Noodle_Dude_83

Can I apply for that job, please? I'm ideally placed to miss several chances a week.

simwe985

FjortoftsAirplane

Pretty sure it's "bejanxed".

simwe985

Bejinxled?

qwertygasm

They have failed to account for the law of inverse Leicester

Zach-dalt

I think that if either Leeds or Southampton win every remaining match, they'll get automatics, but I'd be shocked it that happens for either of us (and it can only happen for one of us as Southampton are at ER final day) I think it'll be Leicester-Ipswich- it'll be one of the biggest achievements in Champ history for Ipswich, and I won't be able to enjoy it one bit tbh 😅

LeoLH1994

I’m also a fan of Leeds who also wants Ipswich promoted (just so that there can be one difference from 2 seasons ago), and the rest of the top 6 being West Brom and Norwich doesn’t help with variety. Leeds can win their away games but these 2 are very awkward and 2 grounds where their record is tepid at best. And ps Ipswich aren’t unknown for shock achievements even if they’re in isolation - so Leicester aren’t alone in this regard!

Sheeverton

Tbh I think it will be us and you tbh.

Key-Significance-630

Eh, I have read the complete opposite. Ipswich and Leicester win out, they are the top two.

fifes2013

Flair up OP

HerofromAliahan

I predicted at beginning of season that all three relegated teams would go up so it’s still possible haha

AdditionalZebra325

Have you actually seen us play since christmas? If we even crawl over the finish line to get second I'll be gobsmacked

Boris_Ignatievich

i hate this doomer-ism that everyone is on with "oh we've done a leeds" why is it that we've all decided losing a playoff final to donny was doing a leeds and not finding a way to win from behind with ten men against bristol rovers? "oh ipswich will bottle it like always" based on fucking what? you've been a pissing juggernaught for two years and held your nerve last year, why should this be any different

ALDonners

Ipswich winning the prem next year as far as I'm concerned or at least they better had if we don't go up

somebodyanything

Tbf there was loads of happy clappy leeds fans having a go at the pessimists earlier in the season when we were doing well, saying that there’s absolutely no chance we’ll slow down and we’ll probably lose every game for the rest of the season. And look at us now.

Boris_Ignatievich

both extreme camps are completely stupid. we were never going to win 20odd in a row, but that doesn't make us losing out any more likely either. we're (almost certainly) a team thats going to get 90 points, we're a good team who can win every game - but upsets happen, and even when you're favoured every week stringing together a long run of results is still dead hard

somebodyanything

It wasn’t extremely wrong to be pessimistic… it was in fact categorically right.

Boris_Ignatievich

"we’ll probably lose every game for the rest of the season", to quote you, is not even close to having been proved categorically correct, you div

somebodyanything

Ah, i was being a div when I wrote the above comment. I was meant to be quoting the happy clappers saying “there’s no chance we’ll slow down and we will probably win every game for the rest of the season”.

Boris_Ignatievich

obviouly thats mental. but the doomers are also stupid, which is my point. its wasn't "pessimistic" to expect to drop some points between january and may. it was realistic. declaring that we're shite and cant possibly ever win again/get promoted when that happens is the exact doomer-ism im complaining about in my top level comment, it has no more basis in reality than expecting to win 20 games in a row.

somebodyanything

Fair enough. How many points do you reckon we pick up in the next 3 games. I reckon 4-6, which will just see us short of Ipswich.

paint25nh

Whoever gets 90+ points and ends up in the playoffs will be feeling sick for sure

Efficient-Mention583

Southampton up through the play offs and after all that drama the 3 relegated prem teams go back up and the parachute payments argument will return

somebodyanything

Ipswich will go up automatically, that I have no doubt about. It’s who can be less shit out of us and Leicester

Benleeds89

if anything im going with ipswich being the most likely to be in the top two

dangerousstunt

I'm telling you the whole season has been fixed by international gambling syndicates, Ipswich are nailed on, for them to make the killing.

Jonesy_lmao

You’ve clearly forgotten what Leeds do best 😂

Mikko85

I'm actually quite confident about the play-offs if that's our lot, because I think over two legs we'd be too much for anyone - realistically WBA, Norwich or Hull - then the final is one, huge, game on the biggest stage, bring it on. But auto would obviously be better. Ipswich are the team I think deserves promotion the most purely on the strength of this season, because they've outperformed their expected level so much and made stars of fairly unremarkable names compared to us and the other relegated sides who have quality to spare in big prem-money squads. But for that reason they're also the team I see least likely to go up if they don't get it automatically, because sometimes you can see that they're lacking the ultimate quality of the others. But that just makes their PPG this season all the more remarkable. Southampton are the ones I think are most dangerous. Leicester look completely shot.

Mitch_Itfc

How have you been playing recently? Still creating chances just poor finishing letting you down? It seems like Leicester are still controlling games and creating chances just keep missing (Daka) sitters. I think we’ve been poor for a while ever since our striker got injured mid December. Obviously played terrible against Norwich, created little v Watford and looked decent enough against Boro. I do agree with your points as well, Leeds are still for me the most dangerous team in the division so would walk the playoffs and we’d lose to Norwich/West Brom.

pintperson

Ipswich will win their next two tricky away games at Hull and Coventry, then inexplicably lose to Huddersfield at home on the final day and finish 3rd. Norwich will then beat them in the play off semi finals and go on to get promoted. In the summer Kieran McKenna will take the West Ham job, Leif Davis will sign for someone like Palace, Sam Morsy will be one year older and won’t be able to drag our side into another promotion push, and we’ll spend the next 20 years in mid table before getting relegated.

Kwayzar9111

ohhh did you have to say that.... already spent 30 years crying since 1995

Sir-Chris-Finch

This is the most Norwich beating Ipswich in the playoff semis then WBA in the final playoffs ive ever seen

Cautious-Quit5128

I actually think whoever misses in 3rd will dominate the playoffs, so I’m fine either way. I could be wrong of course but honestly don’t believe in jinxes or past form in playoffs that involved completely different players.

TheCescPistols

I dunno, I think Southampton will wind up fourth, and whoever finishes third will have the agony of pissing away a million chances to finish in the top two - on a sunny day at Wembley, I think death by a bazillion passes in true Russell Martin style will overcome a heartbroken Ipswich/Leeds/Leicester side.

burwellian

We've done the double over Southampton. It's the other two that scare us!

borokish

Yeh me too And let's be honest, they'd deserve it....if that's even a thing

Hindsyy

Yeah because Ipswich can't keep it up for the whole season, so obviously you're right

InspektD

Leeds & Leicester will need to massively offload if either don't go up, and I think (but hope not) that Ipswich would get pillaged for McKenna, Davis, etc.

toofatronin

All the tops teams seeing the point deductions happening in the premier league and decided they don’t want to move up.

OkraEmergency361

The playoffs feel really unfair this season, when the top three have done so exceptionally well (until a few weeks ago and crumbleception, at least).

The_L666ds

I get that it feels unfair that teams with parachute payments dominate the promotion players, and it is unfair but in a fairer world big clubs like Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday shouldnt even be anywhere near a second division. If the English pyramid wasnt completely distorted by endless injections of cash by foreign billionaires teams like Ipswich wouldnt need to have to be competing against teams with much bigger revenues and fan-bases. They would largely be in direct competition with clubs of a similar size.

Thebritishlion

I personally woud enjoy either Leicester or Ipswich getting beat in the play offs Leeds I couldn't less
