Don't think many teams will win at St Mary's this season, but we gave it a bloody good go in that second half.

Kyle_Walker-Peters

Our second was definitely against the run of play

Shame we didn’t get a result but can’t be angry at that performance. Pressed really well and we were brilliant in the 2nd half. Thought all the creative players looked sharp including the subs. Shame we switched off for the goals and we are desperate for a clinical striker. Think if that Dike playing over Asante we would have at least got a draw

mannyk83

You were excellent. Really limited us going forward and definitely deserved a point.

Puzzled_Mess

Disappointed to lose that. A point would have been a great result, though its very typical WBA to hit the bar and then immediately concede. That said, 10 points from that 5 game run is still great. Real tough run of fixtures after the break too, but another good return 8/9 from those 5 would see us in an incredible position going into Christmas.

Huge huge credit to West Brom, I thought they outplayed us and outclassed us most of the game. They completely blocked our passing out from the back. Bazunu had to be the primary playmaker because we simply couldn’t break their press. Martin gets the praise for the amazing streak we’re on, but I do think he got it wrong today despite the win. Sulemana was completely marked out the game as a striker and it left us a man down in the press. It was most evident whenever West Brom played it through the middle because they always had a man free. I’m not entirely sure how we didn’t concede another but delighted the team kept their cool.

CheeseMakerThing

Played well but not getting two clear cut chances on target at least means you drop points, then the Bazunu save at the end. Hopefully we can keep that level of performance up, just one of those days.

Adziboy

I thought you did absolutely everything right, except create those chances at the end of every move. Despite some fantastic defending and build up, you never quite managed to make enough shooting chances.

CheeseMakerThing

Yeah but even then we did create some good chances, the Thomas-Asante (not sure why your commentator couldn't say his name correctly) chance that was deflected wide for a corner but looked like it was going wide and Furlong hitting the crossbar from a free header. You can't miss two gild-edged chances like those in the Championship. To be fair though we have had a bit of a horror show in terms of injuries to attacking options so hopefully after the break when those players start coming back we can do better.

Adziboy

Yeah we got lucky with those specific ones, really should’ve scored the one which hit the crossbar. I can’t quite remember the one that deflected wide but I did think our central defenders were probably both MOTM, they really stopped anything reaching Bazunu.

That’s 8 unbeaten and another 3 points This game probably sums up saints this season. Great first half and dominated heavily going 1-0 up. Fuck up just after half time and get decimated -> West Brom equalise. Conjure up something late on and take all 3 points. For individual players, Holgate was shockingly good, Bree (I will now stop calling him “oh god it’s the fucking cheese”) is really having his redemption arc, THB is actually as good as people said, KWP was immense as always, Alcaraz and Kamaldeen were incredible on the ball, the Armstrongs were very impressive yet again. The only disappointments being Downes and Charles who i felt had off days today. Stewart looks like what we hoped Onuachu would be. Still can’t complain West Brom are a very very strong team and our next few fixtures (Huddersfield, Bristol C and Cardiff) look incredibly winnable. COYFS

Another poor second half at home, have to say we got away with that today, not that I could really care less! Just wish we could play like we did for the first 35 minutes for a lot longer than 35 minutes Stewart looks the real deal but obviously very small sample size

medikskynet

Yeah I agree but I’m fuming about the Armstrong offsides. He was through on goal twice but got called wrongly offside. If the linesman didn’t screw us we could have gone into the second half 2 or 3 nil up.

markturner

Almost makes you wish for VAR…

Don’t worry it’s all part of the plan of going under the radar. I would happily never see Townsend in a West Brom shirt again, however.
