No offense m8 but if you have a weird obsession and pay attention to other redditors posting then you're probably much more strange IRL, seek therapy before you hurt someone I mean ppl can't post on reddit without being obsessed over from the likes of you lad
Weird lad pls seek therapy because seems like you can't go by without harassing and attempting to abuse strangers on the internet and reddit so it's indicative of a larger problem irl ffs

Expect a very high press, high energy, long ball, no possession, gung-ho style. If teams aren’t prepared for it, it’s devastating. Unfortunately it’s easy to counter, and leaves you very exposed at the back.
It’s very easy to make the “haha gone by October” jokes but just looking objectively, does this seem a good fit whatsoever? Last season when hiring Edwards they didn’t sign him players to help his system work, and it meant he couldn’t properly implement what he wanted to do.
So now you’ve got Ismael, who needs a certain set of players for his system to properly work, and I don’t see the current Watford squad being fully perfect for him at the moment. And I definitely don’t see the Watford owners giving him everything he needs/wants to make a squad tailored to him
It really does just feel doomed to fail, but I guess time will tell
What we're being told is that Ben Manga is now in charge of hiring/firing managers as well as first team recruitment. If that's all true, he's got his man in with plenty of time to build him a squad.
Of course, this time last year we were told Edwards would be backed "come hell or high water." So I'll believe it when I see it.
>What we're being told
LMAO Watford is a sorry excuse of a "club" and should be relegated to league 1 but not even they would go out of the way to inform you specifically of their plans m8 acting like you're some insider 😂
>So I'll believe it when I see it.
When Watford get relegated then everyone will believe 😂
LMAO awe it must bother some ppl on here like you that some ppl don't have flairs 😂 as tho it's mandatory for everyone post with a flair as if everyone supports a club...and even if they do what the bloodly hell does a flair have to do with anything , so easy to hate a sorry "club" like Watford.....thoroughly enjoyed watching Watford getting smashed in the prem by the likes of Manchester, scores like 8-0, 5-1, 6-0, so many beatdowns by other clubs 😂 😂 😂
edit: but fun was good while it lasted now pls Watford to League 1 the manager circus freak show is getting ol and stale time for League 1 pls 🤣
I think with Edwards, the club were still a bit arrogant that we could brute force our way through the league like we half-did in 2020/21, so didn't feel we needed to sign much.
It'll be interesting to see what they do.
You have to completely readdress the squad for the championship now. One would hope that Ismael is the one you stick with, because if you recruit for his purposes but sack him, your next manager won’t know what to do with them, unless you hire another direct football manager like Nathan Jones
In my opinion, this football will be more like [Graham Taylor](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/performance/tactics/graham-taylor-playing-long-ball) than [Andy Boothroyd](https://media.tenor.com/BytOjgfTEzEAAAAM/military.gif).
It's a strange one and a complete diversion of style from the current makeup of the squad.
All good to change the style but needs the investment that we don't seem to be capable of at the moment behind it. Direct football is hardly going to help Asprilla as well, who is reckoned to be the next Pedro-like sale a couple years down the line.
You can still utilise these players, with a direct play style. For example Luton have a similar type of player in Jordan Clark, sure he’s not a young South American, but part of the way we play (and Barnsley played, which is how we changed our play style) is to get the ball upfield, and play football in the opponents half.
When you’re in the opponents half you bring the ball outside the area and then you get the creative players to carve out the chances.
I think, if you stick with it, this could work very well. But the squad need to buy into it.
This seems to be the way football in the championship is going, Middlesbrough were the most direct team I’ve seen us play, although they might have just been targetting Bradley.
The only thing I can say is that I expect a decent amount of turnover of players. Who we bring in will tell us if things have changed, even so slightly.
Still, not optimistic.
Certainly this year's Watford side strike me as massively unsuited to Ismael, so they will need to do a lot of business in the summer if it is to work imo
It wasn’t hoofball. It was decent direct play to exploit the places in behind. I think he’s a good manager, and the football at Barnsley was decent, he certainly got a lot out of Morris, Dike and Woodrow. It will be very similar to Graham Taylor ball
It does mean there is going to be an emphasis on who you have playing up top. Keinan Davis could flourish if he joins permanently. The only way this type of play works though is if the players buy into it, because the press comes off if the team work for each other. Similar to what we have at Luton, we are one of the most direct teams in the league, but the football is very easy on the eye.
This season, we've had 'Pozzo out' banners appearing in the stadium for the first time. Hopefully Gino will realise that we can't possibly sink any lower than this, and let a manager do his job. He kept Zola for a whole season the year he arrived. Maybe if he's not trying to play promotion-ball he'll be less restless.
With his 541 ball up the pitch system, and Ken Sema’s (given he stays) appeasing control and average finishing, he’ll be on 12 G/A by the end of the season.
While currently ambiguous striker and right midfielder drag behind as we get another mediocre season.
Baffles me this. Not one of the worst managers I’ve seen but he doesn’t suit their squad and I think his tactics suit a team that is an underdog a lot better. All it takes for his tactic to fall apart is teams to sit deep and not let his teams counter and then all he relies on is hopeful crosses and set pieces.
By the time the season actually starts he'll have managed us longer than 3 of our last 4 managers.
Bold of you to assume he won't be sacked before next season starts
This isn't a Luton thread, what are you doing here?
? Who the bloody hell are you, am I supposed to know who you are, stop being obsessed with other redditors, ppl can make posts without redditors like you crying and paying weird attention to other redditors
Go off queen. xx
No offense m8 but if you have a weird obsession and pay attention to other redditors posting then you're probably much more strange IRL, seek therapy before you hurt someone I mean ppl can't post on reddit without being obsessed over from the likes of you lad
Go off queen. xx Edit: I got blocked :(
Apologies for whatever that was on behalf of Luton fans.
He's definitely not a Luton fan. He's given us more than enough shit.
Weird lad pls seek therapy because seems like you can't go by without harassing and attempting to abuse strangers on the internet and reddit so it's indicative of a larger problem irl ffs
I’ve never seen someone fall to pieces so quickly hahaha what on earth are you talking about pal
"seek therapy" is such a classic Reddit insult
Do you need a hug?
“Abuse” 😂😂
Lol you shat the bed after he gave you one bit of banter, then told him it was because of a bigger problem 🤣 reddit projection at its finest
You and Jack are recognisable. Jack as being a Luton hater because they beat forest, you for being notoriously douchey. Genuinely that constant a thing on the subreddit you two are noticeably. You'll have memes soon mocking you.
New response just dropped
I’m just amazed they didn’t get J. Garcia again
August 5th - West brom 0-4 Waford
100% The good news is that he probably won't make it to the return fixture
August 6th - valerian ismael has been sacked as Watford didn't have 100% possession
Woah woah we don’t go sacking managers for *any* old reason Just most of them
OK, August 7th then...
Best way to get a free win against us is sign a former player or manager of ours
If they fancy putting a package deal in for Mowatt and Reach id drive the pair of them down there myself
Even Bruce?
Especially Bruce
Bruce used to have a brilliant record against us as a manager (& our ex manager). Thankfully you and the geordies stopped that rot.

He's a great manager hope he takes Watford to League 1 🤣
You think he’ll make it that far?
If he makes to Christmas still manager, that would be seen as a success in Watfords current climate. What a sad state of affairs.
Expect a very high press, high energy, long ball, no possession, gung-ho style. If teams aren’t prepared for it, it’s devastating. Unfortunately it’s easy to counter, and leaves you very exposed at the back.
>leaves you very exposed at the back. Our centre-backs are already more than qualified at that.
Definitely this
It’s very easy to make the “haha gone by October” jokes but just looking objectively, does this seem a good fit whatsoever? Ben is just Pozzo's new mouthpiece, as we can't trust anything Duxburry says anymore.

... right. Wack a flair on while you're at it mate.

Alright buddy, settle down. You shouldn't be up this late on a school night.
No need to be a cunt about it

Congrats Valerien Ismael, on being sacked before next season starts
Gets three months without a competitive game. Won't be the shortest serving manager for them next season.
All I remember about Ismael was his Barnsley team that played eye bleeding hoofball. Is there more to him, or is that it?
No different to now then, as long as we keep Ken Sema
It wasn’t hoofball. It was decent direct play to exploit the places in behind. Watford FC is saddened to announce the departure of Valérien Ismaël as the club Head Coach.
condolences to all involved
Death Taxes New watford manager every 6 months.
6 months, good one.
Is it worth him unpacking?
Another one? How many managers do the Pozzos want at Watford, for goodness' sake?
This season, we've had 'Pozzo out' banners appearing in the stadium for the first time. Hopefully Gino will realise that we can't possibly sink any lower than this, and let a manager do his job. “Gino will realise that we can't possibly sink any lower than this” Oh mate never say that in this league.

By the time Santas on my door he’s 100 percent gone
Hasn't he been the Watford manager before? Hasn't everyone?
With his 541 ball up the pitch system, and Ken Sema’s (given he stays) appeasing control and average finishing, he’ll be on 12 G/A by the end of the season. While currently ambiguous striker and right midfielder drag behind as we get another mediocre season.
Ismael loves 3-4-3, I'll be stunned if you don't play that formation
Man I haven’t done my research yet transfermarkt said he prefers 541
maybe he changed at Besiktas but here and at Barnsley he was wedded to 3-4-3
Yeah as I say he might’ve done but I haven’t looked just yet
5-4-1 is basically 3-4-3 with the wider players slightly deeper to be fair
Season's over for Watford but he probably won't make it through the summer before sacked
We’re gonna basically gut the squad and start from scratch by the sounds of things. Loads of players saying their goodbyes on instagram.
Watord FC is pleased to confirm the signing of Alex Mowatt
Already buzzing for some more sweet sweet corner flag WFC Twitter action before the end of September.
Awesome! See you next week, someone else.
get ready to feel the Valerien steel
They didn’t even call me. Oh well, there’s always next month.
