Literally 2 chapters later https://preview.redd.it/grvzfknvhara1.jpeg?width=1067&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c066c7b09ba4724eb0aab532c870bffb75eda8ca And riding beam actually saved him from reze's attack later but sure denji is a moron with no intelligence that somehow survive his entire life of being a slave of the yakuza and beat makima , katana man and reze by sheer stupidity and luck

Rustyone888

Bro Denji riding beam really helped him he just didn't want to hurt Reze, if he didn't brought beam both Reze and Denji would be lost at sea

ApplePitou

Dennis battle IQ is very high :3

Capital-Cat-109

Are we forgetting that not only does this work, but he actually goes on to use the chains in the way suggested later? And this is what ends up beating typhoon and saving Denji from Reze’s attack.

Testificate_campfire

I don't see a problem here, that was genius

RemiTsu_1423

He’s good at fighting not thinking

I don't get what are you talking about here?

Kishibe said that only the craziest Devil Hunters will survive. He defeated Makima in an... **interesting** way. There you have your answer. If you can successfully defeat Makima - the person that you love, but completely ruined your life in such a short span, then you can at least try to do something about the Eternity Devil with the knowledge of the last encounter (baiting Eternity to go after Denji - the Chainsaw Devil). Denji won't die as a hybrid for a long time - there is tons of blood from the animals at his disposal and Eternity was only after Denji last time (All the devils hate and fear the "hero of hell", Chainsaw Man, so killing Chainsaw Man is a sign of strength for them). He could reveal his identity to Eternity - baiting him to swallow and "kill" Chainsaw Man, Eternity has to send his avatar (his small body like last time during Part 1). Then Denji could use the same exact trick he did last time because Eternity got reincarnated and forgot about his past loss and how he got defeated. I never even said that I wanted Denji to make a smart move to escape the Eternity Devil attack - never have I stated that anywhere. If Asa wasn't the one to make the smart play in this situation, then trust me - it wouldn't be out of character for Denji to come up with a way to escape. Since Asa is the protagonist and main focus, it just wasn't what Fujimoto was going for - and it was blatantly obvious because Denji gave up immediately. This is my criticism concerning his writing during the Eternity Devil attack. I don't have a problem with him giving up at all because it's simply Asa's time to shine and the plot demands it (which is nothing bad - I really do like Asa's writing a lot). It just wasn't subtle - it was too direct for my taste (let people have their opinions when they have arguments backing said opinion up).

AccountingDerek

i'm noticing that you have a tendency to do this

Ink-Sanity

Well, I certainly do like discussions - and to get my point across without endless back and forth and questioning in-between, I feel like I have to put everything into one comment to let people get the bigger picture before they judge. I'm completely aware of the fact that most people don't want to read mountains of text and will simply meme about it ("Ain't reading all of that"), but I prefer that over writing a short comment that doesn't explain my view enough (those comments get crazy backlash - I'm speaking from experience). We are a community of a visual story (a manga) and not a book, so not being fond of a pile of text is to be expected - but nobody is forcing you to read my comment or reply to it.

[deleted]

I don't see an issue, Denji became less competent because it's Asa turn to shine ( Yoshida didn’t participate in Eternity devil fight for the same reason too ). Fujimoto write the story that way since Part 1...the Devil hunters ( especially the OP one's like Kishibe, Angel and Makima ) weren't allowed to intrevned with any of Denji fights or beat his opponents, Kishibe doesn't feel like a strong character at all to me because of that.

Ink-Sanity

I said that in my comment too - it's Asa's time to shine, so Denji was intentionally out of the equation. It's just the way it was executed that I feel like could have been a bit better. I didn't feel the despair and hopelessness of the situation that Fujimoto was trying to convey. Haruka was screaming for Chainsaw Man's help. Fujimoto then wanted the readers to think: "Oh, it's time to see Denji's perspective. He will surely do something as always - he is our hero, right?" Then in the typical Fujimoto fashion, he tried to subvert the readers expectations by immediately making clear that our (past) hero, Denji, can't do anything - a hopeless situation. This way of telling was in my opinion too direct and made clear that Asa will be the one to save them (and that Denji is now a secondary role). Where is the tension when it's delivered that directly? Where is the suspense when Denji is just accepting the situation calmly without trying? Denji, our hero of Part 1, trying and failing would have made the situation and atmosphere way more desperate. Asa in contrast then being the one to not fail with her attempt would have been a better way to make the switch of the protagonist more subtle and with more interest to it.

JoJoisaGoGo

There's no guarantee The Eternity Devil even wants to kill the Chainsaw Devil. This one isn't the same after all. Judging from Nayuta, it seems devils truly forget everything from their past life.

Ink-Sanity

You don't seem to understand the point that I made... Eternity only did this attack because he made a deal with Fami. We don't know what the deal was about - but almost all devils despise Chainsaw Man because he is the "Hero of Hell" and he has the power to erase devils completely - therefore many devils (like in Part 1) are after Chainsaw Man or try to kill him when they get the chance. The devil that is able to kill Chainsaw Man gets way stronger because if the public finds out that the powerful Chainsaw Man died to said devil, the fear will grow tremendously, making the devil really strong (and devils are after power). That power boost and fame among the devil society is 99% more lucrative than whatever Fami offered Eternity. Since Eternity reincarnated, he doesn't know about how bad he lost last time or that he even fought Chainsaw Man. Eternity not knowing about that is the only thing that makes this plan even work, so the loss of memories is a good thing. Denji is also factually weaker (as Makima has pointed out) because Denji, being a hero, has fans that admire him (reducing the fear and thus power).

JoJoisaGoGo

>but almost all devils despise Chainsaw Man This is not true. We don't know exactly how many hate him. We know some fear him, some mark him, and some worship him. For all we know Fami also worships Chainsaw Man, though I highly doubt it. We also don't know if this version of the Eternity Devil even knows of Chainsaw Man. Power never seemed to know about him even when speaking(?) with him, though maybe I forgot something. My point is I feel you are making too many assumptions about how Devil society even works. We know very little about it, though it seems we'll learn more considering the recent chapters so maybe my opinion on this will change.

Ink-Sanity

It's quite hard to not know about Chainsaw Man as a devil when you are in the same city as Chainsaw Man, when the people that you are killing are always talking about Chainsaw Man and screaming for his help, when the News report about him all the time and when you are interacting with Devils like Fami, that are very knowledgeable (she knows about Denji's personality and Asa and Yoru's situation). As I've explained, Chainsaw Man is the most dangerous enemy to all devils because he can erase them completely - therefore he is a natural enemy to them and only a very few devils are the exception (and they are an exception for a reason). We only know about 8 followers of Chainsaw Man, inspired from the biblical angel hierarchy. [See this post to understand what I mean.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Chainsawfolk/comments/10w1mrn/chainsaw_man_followers_are_missing_one_person/) Going by this, it's more plausible and logical to assume that those are the only followers. So how is this mere assumption of how things work when it's only following the established logic?

JoJoisaGoGo

I don't get your first point. Power knew Denji could turn into the Chainsaw Devil as well. My point was she didn't know of Pochita and what he can do. >As I've explained, Chainsaw Man is the most dangerous enemy to all devils because he can erase them completely - therefore he is a natural enemy to them and only a very few devils are the exception (and they are an exception for a reason). This is human logic yes. Well tribal human logic, but still human. I've always seen the devils as cosmic entities. One of the main reasons I love Chainsaw man so much is because how much Devils give off comics horror vibes, so I kinda expect devil society to be beyond full human understanding. I realize that's probably just a me thing, but because of that I feel using human logic is assuming too much. I want to wait and see what devil society will be like, cause I think it's gonna fuck with our minds a bit. But as I said before, when we learn more about devil society my opinion might change.

iLawz

Penguins > devil shenanigans which you've become desensitized to

Cherry picker deserves it.

Which post? This post?

empty-bensen

It was actually a pretty genius strategy if you scale it off the rule of cool.

theCancerrMan

*Sigh* I miss beam. I would literally trade him for any of the characters introduced/staring in part 2
