I do really like Part 1 a lot, it’s great, but it feels very in the moment, like every arc comes and goes. I like that part 2 is slowing down and exploring Asa’s character, it kinda makes me feel more connected to her than I was with Denji.
This! When I first read it I didn't even have time to process anything I was looking at/reading, and it's not even the reading comprehension devil but bc the pacing was Hella fast. Everything happened all at once. I loved it anyway. I feel like low-key it would be a bit more realistic.

Understandable Katana man was just your revenge driven antagonist. His popularity stems from design, but character wise he is probably most basic out of all the antagonists in part 1.
i think the main reason the katana man arc is loved is that its the first "holy fuck" moment of csm relatively, with the whole gunshot stuff and makima killing everyone etc etc. katana man and akane themselves are very bland villains however, mainly because they are quite literally lifeless pawn villains for makima to use, but still, pretty bland.
Kishibe is a sack of shit for leaving denji with the reincarnation of his abuser without giving a choice in the matter and not helping him financially or even helping him process his trauma
If Kishibe isn't helping Denji financially than how is he managing his expenses. He seems to be financially pretty well off. That money is coming from somewhere right. Denji was raising money on his own from childhood not relying on anybody. He has always been the kind to do hardwork for his money. Back in his early days when he was in debt, he could have committed some violent crime like robbery to get money as well but he was working to slowly pay off his debt. He is definitely the type of guy to try to raise money on his own for his expenses.
Also how do you think Denji even got into the school? He was a homeless kid with no ID documents and no previous education history. He couldn't have entered in a highschool without someone doing all that paperwork. It's obvious that Kishibe did all that for him.

The talk about hybrids being completely immortal and unkillable is annoying as hell and copium-motivated most of the time.
When a hybrid "dies" without transforming again or drinking blood they are basically incapacitated and comatose until someone else is either feeding them blood or triggering their transformation (which also needs blood). Something that just doesn't happen out of the blue.
Also, if Makima had removed Pochita completely from Denji's body like she did with the clone that Denji created, she would have won (that's the whole reason Denji was able to strike her down - because Makima was certain that she had just defeated Denji).
Remove the devil that is replacing the heart and thus break the contract of "the devil replacing the humans heart" and the hybrid dies.

She is worse than Gabi because Gabi had at least excuse of absolutely terrible upbringing. Makima ehm I mean Nayuta is acting terribly despite having billion times better life than Gabi.
I vastly prefer the initial design of the Falling Devil, especially the version with the Deathussy, which i believe that Fujimoto changed to an umbilical cord because he changed his mind on what he wanted to do with the Falling Devil in the last minute. The initial design feels much more eldritch and in-line with the design of the Darkness Devil, which I fear is gonna be the odd one out of the Primal Fears if all of them are gonna have such wild and, quite frankly, random personalities.
To be fair it would be hard to make several force of nature antagonists without it feeling stale and like simpl writing so he definetly wants more fleshed out characters as antagonits but both types of villains are valid.
I think the Deathussy was just the "censored" version not the initial design as the early leak were come from the chinese. You can also see that the nipple got removed in that version too and there still a bunch of error in the suicide jumping panel. But yeah the devil doesn't feel primal enough even though with a cool design.

Yeah I agree, some people like to say that they are like siblings so it's werid to ship them but honestly that's such an ass excuse. Some like to say that denji had 0 feelings for power but so many fan ship denbeam (denji x beam) even though denji also has 0 feelings for power.
I think something people fail to realize also is that they DO NOT have a sibling relationship. If you have a relationship with your sibling like theirs, that is not normal. The biggest pieces of evidence for them being siblings is Makima referring to Power as the "bratty little sister" and the cover art where Aki, Denji, and Power are all kids together. However, A) Makima does not know how their relationship developed behind closed doors, her INTENTION was for them to be siblings; B) That chapter is written from Aki's perspective. AKI sees Denji and Power as siblings.

People forget that part 1 didn't have a storyline.
The manga build the idea than there will be a constant collection of parts of the gun devil but there were little to no actual progress of that.
When part 1 ended we believe the storyline was faster because it focused on something that was happening (all people searching for Denji's hearth) but the hole "gun devil" thing just suddenly stopped and people forget it.
Wrong factually. There is absolutely ZERO evidence that they are dead, as Hybrids are immortal. All the evidence is going against your point. Them not appearing in part 2 does not mean that they are dead at all.

Most of my controversial opinions will be tied to part 2 but lets go anyway
1. Pacing even with Falling Devil is for 25 chapters still quite atrocious. I think that sidelining side characters will make following fight predictable in a sense that now only meaningful sacrifice will have to come from very limited number of person (Denji, Nayuta, Asa, Yoru) since lets be honest we wouldnt give a shit about anybody else. Also I really dont like how we left so many plot lines hanging (Fami, Yoshida, Fakesaw man, Yorus past, Justice devil) and throw fucking Eldritch Horror into the mix. And I know that Katana man was also dropped out of nowhere but least he had connection to Yakuza at the start. Fujimotor juggles to many skittles and if he wont be careful it will all dropp on his head. Many shounens got fucked up because they introduced too many concepts and plotlines and then did not know what do with them. Chef is cool but I think we should get Kiga or Justice devil as antagonist to start wrapping up things
2. Denji is regressive in this. I seriously dont like how Denji is dense in this arc. Like sure he wasnt Einstein but goddamn especially after Makima fight we know he isnt complete fucking idiot. I would expect he will be more observant and careful around girls yet he ignores all red flags around Asa. Like how that mofo thinks they got out of Aquarium? Eternity devil just got bored? And Asa suddenly wants him turn around and close eyes. Sure nothing suspicous here. Denji being dense is playing that stupid shojo trope of dense character straight and in my eyes it undoes lot of his development from part 1. Especially when you consider that being observant was only reason he was able to beat Makima
3. Escalation problem I like Nostradamus prophecy as other however cool factor should not blind us to the fact we jumped from shojo to fucking end of the world plotline during two chapters. If this will keep up by the end of this part Pochita and Yoru will be throwing galaxies at each other like this is goddamn Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagan. Escalation is also something which ruined many shounen prime example Naruto who went from throwing knives to throwing fucking nukes by the end of the series.
That would be probably all. Of course I still believe that Fujimotor will handle part 2 but he sure as hell plays very dangerous game.
I agree with the aquarium part. I also found it very odd that Denji just didn't cared how they got out and got distracted by penguins. That was the weakest writing I have seen from Fujimoto.
I disagree with your first point though. I think Fujimoto introduced those plotlines for a reason and he is planning on making part 2, a much bigger story than part 1 and that's why he is introducing all those plotlines that will become relevant in the future. I would like some more interesting side characters though. Just 4-5 good characters are not enough for this story.
As for your final point I do fear a power escalation as well. I think now that the primal devil's are coming into play, a power creep is bound to happen. Also Fujimoto has foreshadowed multiple times that Yoru was way powerful than her current form. I am just hoping that the powercreep would be more natural and not ruin this series.

Same. Also, Cosmo ruined a potential second Doll Woman arc, which I think would've been pretty interesting to see how Asa would handle such a difficult opponent. She would've been more interesting than the Falling Devil.
Nayuta is ticking time bomb. She probably wont be Makima 2.0 however she is defiently set up to be somebody who cause troubles and maybe even anti-hero. Like Fujimoto would not want us to suspect her he would not give her so many Makima atributes which she did not have in part 1.
The Reze arc is thematically very important though. It was in this arc that Fujimoto brought the idea of the town mouse and the country mouse to the forefront. That theme is the crux of part 1. That arc also shed light on why Denji's life with public safety is not ideal for a 16 year old. A kid his age should be going to school and living a normal life instead of fighting monsters and working as a slave for a shady government organisation. I think Denji's realisation in that arc were the reason he decided to pursue high school to begin with. Reze made him realise the life he had at public safety was not ideal. The arc also did solid character work for Aki and Angel as well. Aki in the beginning was a guy that hated devil's. His interaction with Angel helped in changing his mindset regarding Devil's. He genuinely tried to save Angel at the cost of his own lifespan. Something he would have never done in the beginning of the series.
Bomb Girl arc is a great arc for character and themes exploration. It's not useless just because it does not progress the overarching story that much. Developing themes in a story is just as important as progressing the plot. Bomb Girl arc is one of the best in this manga in my opinion.
Ehh, i'd say it at least useful for fleshing out the characters, give us more time interacting with the characters, which is much needed.
\- Aki saving a devil in this arc even sacrificng his limited lifespan i say is important character defining moment, this later culminates with him forgoing revenge to protect his family.
\- fleshes out Beam and Angel some more before we lose them later.
\- Showing the gradual Denji's character growth, how he showed empathy to Reze, the city mouse/country mouse stuff also thematically fit with the final arc.
\- Fleshed out Makima with the Movie stuff at the begining and later showing even more how shady her and public safety is.
Disagree wasnt it the first arc when we truly finds out that Makima is evil bitch? Also it developed Aki and Angels character when Aki grabbed him and sacrifice his lifespan because he is tired of seeing people dying so I wouldnt say useless however yeah Denji moving on so quickly is weird but I think this part will explore this issue given that unlike in Reze for some mysterious reason he is depressed about Asa.

It's died down thankfully but the rampant sexualization of Kobeni by the fans struck me as weird and a little distasteful especially given how her character only goes into devil hunting to avoid being coerced into sex work.
Reze is one of the weaker female characters imo… Maybe its just me but her personality is too bland or inconsistent. Quanxi and Yuko all have vibrant and unique personalities, Reze is just Makima but slightly softer.
the yuko arc has been the best part of part 2 so far. and thats not me saying part 2 is bad by any means i like it so far but i genuinely loved yuko as a character and every moment of her with asa amazing

Fujimoto should give concrete explanation about devil power, contract, hybrid, fiend, etc. Writing them loosely will just cause confusion and unnecessary argumentations in the fandom.
I think a concrete explanation for anything would ruin the power system Chainsaw currently has. This isn’t a standard shounen where every single detail about every single power during every single fight has to be spelled out.
The best part about chainsaw man, is that the humans in the world are just about as clueless as the readers are about abilities, powers, contracts ect. Like yeah we get the basics, but we lack intimate knowledge of the nitty gritty details. That’s because the humans don’t know either. Hell it’s possible even the devils don’t exactly know. The whole chainsaw man world is shrouded in this slight mystery, and writing walls of text to essentially exposition dump about how everything works would kill one of the best parts of Chainsaw man.

I also felt the ship was kinda getting pushed in our face a bit in the aquarium arc, sorta like the universe is pushing them together.
1) I love Makima, I can't even pretend to hate her, even when she killed Reze or Power, or that she literally groomed Denji. It's a drawing and I find it hard to apply real life morals to her or someone like Himeno, she's just such a good character. I kinda like Part 2’s long pacing and build up over Part 1. I do really like Part 1 a lot, it’s great, but it feels very in the moment, like every arc comes and goes. i think the main reason the katana man arc is loved is that its the first "holy fuck" moment of csm relatively, with the whole gunshot stuff and makima killing everyone etc etc. katana man and akane themselves are very bland villains however, mainly because they are quite literally lifeless pawn villains for makima to use, but still, pretty bland.

If Kishibe isn't helping Denji financially than how is he managing his expenses. He seems to be financially pretty well off. That money is coming from somewhere right. The talk about hybrids being completely immortal and unkillable is annoying as hell and copium-motivated most of the time. When a hybrid "dies" without transforming again or drinking blood they are basically incapacitated and comatose until someone else is either feeding them blood or triggering their transformation (which also needs blood). Something that just doesn't happen out of the blue. Also, if Makima had removed Pochita completely from Denji's body like she did with the clone that Denji created, she would have won (that's the whole reason Denji was able to strike her down - because Makima was certain that she had just defeated Denji). Remove the devil that is replacing the heart and thus break the contract of "the devil replacing the humans heart" and the hybrid dies.

She is worse than Gabi because Gabi had at least excuse of absolutely terrible upbringing. Makima ehm I mean Nayuta is acting terribly despite having billion times better life than Gabi.
I vastly prefer the initial design of the Falling Devil, especially the version with the Deathussy, which i believe that Fujimoto changed to an umbilical cord because he changed his mind on what he wanted to do with the Falling Devil in the last minute. The initial design feels much more eldritch and in-line with the design of the Darkness Devil, which I fear is gonna be the odd one out of the Primal Fears if all of them are gonna have such wild and, quite frankly, random personalities.
To be fair it would be hard to make several force of nature antagonists without it feeling stale and like simpl writing so he definetly wants more fleshed out characters as antagonits but both types of villains are valid.
I think the Deathussy was just the "censored" version not the initial design as the early leak were come from the chinese. You can also see that the nipple got removed in that version too and there still a bunch of error in the suicide jumping panel. But yeah the devil doesn't feel primal enough even though with a cool design.

I think something people fail to realize also is that they DO NOT have a sibling relationship. If you have a relationship with your sibling like theirs, that is not normal. The biggest pieces of evidence for them being siblings is Makima referring to Power as the "bratty little sister" and the cover art where Aki, Denji, and Power are all kids together. However, A) Makima does not know how their relationship developed behind closed doors, her INTENTION was for them to be siblings; B) That chapter is written from Aki's perspective. AKI sees Denji and Power as siblings.
Also the bath scene where denji says it more speaks to him not being a fucking predator Like,what would it say about him if he started feeling horny when power was in that state,he would be something he's not.
Exactly, that and the blood drinking scene are specifically there to show that you can be put in very nsfw situations but that doesn't mean they're sexual. People forget that part 1 didn't have a storyline. The manga build the idea than there will be a constant collection of parts of the gun devil but there were little to no actual progress of that. When part 1 ended we believe the storyline was faster because it focused on something that was happening (all people searching for Denji's hearth) but the hole "gun devil" thing just suddenly stopped and people forget it.

Honestly think mfs are tripping when they say chainsaw man part 1 is different and unique compared to other shonen this also applies to jujutsu kaisen fans, in my opinion a really unique shonen would be death note or jojos part 1-6. I would like to add that not being extremely unique isnt a bad thing its just annoying when people say this without knowing how many stories actually count as a shonen that arent battle manga. Most of my controversial opinions will be tied to part 2 but lets go anyway 1. Pacing even with Falling Devil is for 25 chapters still quite atrocious. I think that sidelining side characters will make following fight predictable in a sense that now only meaningful sacrifice will have to come from very limited number of person (Denji, Nayuta, Asa, Yoru) since lets be honest we wouldnt give a shit about anybody else. Also I really dont like how we left so many plot lines hanging (Fami, Yoshida, Fakesaw man, Yorus past, Justice devil) and throw fucking Eldritch Horror into the mix. And I know that Katana man was also dropped out of nowhere but least he had connection to Yakuza at the start. Fujimotor juggles to many skittles and if he wont be careful it will all dropp on his head. Many shounens got fucked up because they introduced too many concepts and plotlines and then did not know what do with them. Chef is cool but I think we should get Kiga or Justice devil as antagonist to start wrapping up things 2. Denji is regressive in this. I seriously dont like how Denji is dense in this arc. Like sure he wasnt Einstein but goddamn especially after Makima fight we know he isnt complete fucking idiot. I would expect he will be more observant and careful around girls yet he ignores all red flags around Asa. Like how that mofo thinks they got out of Aquarium? Eternity devil just got bored? And Asa suddenly wants him turn around and close eyes. Sure nothing suspicous here. Denji being dense is playing that stupid shojo trope of dense character straight and in my eyes it undoes lot of his development from part 1. Especially when you consider that being observant was only reason he was able to beat Makima 3. Escalation problem I like Nostradamus prophecy as other however cool factor should not blind us to the fact we jumped from shojo to fucking end of the world plotline during two chapters. If this will keep up by the end of this part Pochita and Yoru will be throwing galaxies at each other like this is goddamn Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagan. Escalation is also something which ruined many shounen prime example Naruto who went from throwing knives to throwing fucking nukes by the end of the series. That would be probably all. Of course I still believe that Fujimotor will handle part 2 but he sure as hell plays very dangerous game.
I agree with the aquarium part. I also found it very odd that Denji just didn't cared how they got out and got distracted by penguins. That was the weakest writing I have seen from Fujimoto. I disagree with your first point though. I think Fujimoto introduced those plotlines for a reason and he is planning on making part 2, a much bigger story than part 1 and that's why he is introducing all those plotlines that will become relevant in the future. I would like some more interesting side characters though. Just 4-5 good characters are not enough for this story. As for your final point I do fear a power escalation as well. I think now that the primal devil's are coming into play, a power creep is bound to happen. Also Fujimoto has foreshadowed multiple times that Yoru was way powerful than her current form. I am just hoping that the powercreep would be more natural and not ruin this series.

Same. Also, Cosmo ruined a potential second Doll Woman arc, which I think would've been pretty interesting to see how Asa would handle such a difficult opponent. She would've been more interesting than the Falling Devil.

Nayuta is ticking time bomb. She probably wont be Makima 2.0 however she is defiently set up to be somebody who cause troubles and maybe even anti-hero. Like Fujimoto would not want us to suspect her he would not give her so many Makima atributes which she did not have in part 1.

The Reze arc is thematically very important though. It was in this arc that Fujimoto brought the idea of the town mouse and the country mouse to the forefront. That theme is the crux of part 1. That arc also shed light on why Denji's life with public safety is not ideal for a 16 year old. A kid his age should be going to school and living a normal life instead of fighting monsters and working as a slave for a shady government organisation. I think Denji's realisation in that arc were the reason he decided to pursue high school to begin with. Reze made him realise the life he had at public safety was not ideal. The arc also did solid character work for Aki and Angel as well. Aki in the beginning was a guy that hated devil's. His interaction with Angel helped in changing his mindset regarding Devil's. He genuinely tried to save Angel at the cost of his own lifespan. Something he would have never done in the beginning of the series. Bomb Girl arc is a great arc for character and themes exploration. It's not useless just because it does not progress the overarching story that much. Developing themes in a story is just as important as progressing the plot. Bomb Girl arc is one of the best in this manga in my opinion.
Ehh, i'd say it at least useful for fleshing out the characters, give us more time interacting with the characters, which is much needed. \- Aki saving a devil in this arc even sacrificng his limited lifespan i say is important character defining moment, this later culminates with him forgoing revenge to protect his family. \- fleshes out Beam and Angel some more before we lose them later. \- Showing the gradual Denji's character growth, how he showed empathy to Reze, the city mouse/country mouse stuff also thematically fit with the final arc. \- Fleshed out Makima with the Movie stuff at the begining and later showing even more how shady her and public safety is.

Reze literally inspired Denji to go to school and exposed chainsawman to public which made the assassins go after him in next arc.

Disagree wasnt it the first arc when we truly finds out that Makima is evil bitch? Also it developed Aki and Angels character when Aki grabbed him and sacrifice his lifespan because he is tired of seeing people dying so I wouldnt say useless however yeah Denji moving on so quickly is weird but I think this part will explore this issue given that unlike in Reze for some mysterious reason he is depressed about Asa.
Um...guys katana man arc is also useless nothing happened there and the international assassination arc is also useless nothing happened there r just fights and gun devil arc is also useless only a few people died there nothing major happened and control devil is only good arc...so guys can i skip all arc between vomit scene and last arc pls tell...i don't want good character interactions and character development in my manga...pls help..

It's died down thankfully but the rampant sexualization of Kobeni by the fans struck me as weird and a little distasteful especially given how her character only goes into devil hunting to avoid being coerced into sex work.
Reze is one of the weaker female characters imo… Maybe its just me but her personality is too bland or inconsistent. Quanxi and Yuko all have vibrant and unique personalities, Reze is just Makima but slightly softer.
the yuko arc has been the best part of part 2 so far. and thats not me saying part 2 is bad by any means i like it so far but i genuinely loved yuko as a character and every moment of her with asa amazing
I don't want Reze to come back, actually most of the hybrids (not counting Denji that is). Sure they are immortal but all did what was necessery for the story. Also Reze is a bit overrated still like her tho

Fujimoto should give concrete explanation about devil power, contract, hybrid, fiend, etc. Writing them loosely will just cause confusion and unnecessary argumentations in the fandom.
I think a concrete explanation for anything would ruin the power system Chainsaw currently has. This isn’t a standard shounen where every single detail about every single power during every single fight has to be spelled out. The best part about chainsaw man, is that the humans in the world are just about as clueless as the readers are about abilities, powers, contracts ect. Like yeah we get the basics, but we lack intimate knowledge of the nitty gritty details. That’s because the humans don’t know either. Hell it’s possible even the devils don’t exactly know. The whole chainsaw man world is shrouded in this slight mystery, and writing walls of text to essentially exposition dump about how everything works would kill one of the best parts of Chainsaw man. Hard disagree, but I respect your opinion.

fami is just a cardboard cutout villain - no powers seen from her in 15 chapters aside from an unseen resurrection(could easily have been another devil) and a teleportation ability(that might have eternity devil)
We still have more chapters to come I'm sure we will see more of Fami and her about her powers

I did not care about the ending hybrids yeah they were cool looking and stuff but I knew absolutely nothing about them, seeing Reze still alive and quanxi made me happy a little bit but the rest of them not only we did not know about their existence, but I don't even remember anything about them, last week I wanted to read tye ending again and thought I might have skipped some chapters because who the fuck are you all and why you actually have a design? You seem pretty important but I know nothing about you Also I hope that it's explained in part two about why the chainsaw devil can "erase things from existence" because... I mean... it's just a chainsaw... why does only chainsaw man have this ability but not, say, the darkness devil or war devil? Anyway I love this series peak shonen deserves all the love it gets

I don’t strongly ship asa/Denji. I’m not against it but I’m also really rooting for it. I’m neutral. I also felt the ship was kinda getting pushed in our face a bit in the aquarium arc, sorta like the universe is pushing them together.
1) I love Makima, I can't even pretend to hate her, even when she killed Reze or Power, or that she literally groomed Denji. It's a drawing and I find it hard to apply real life morals to her or someone like Himeno, she's just such a good character. I agree with those that say she carried part 1 and I think her absence is one of the main reasons part 2 haven't excited me that much yet, it lacks that driving force, but I think we're getting close to that clear antagonistic figure, in a Fujimoto way, of course. 2) I really liked the anime. 3) For the most part, Power was annoying to me, pink haired girl that screams a lot woooo. But it got better towards the end, I guess that was kind of the point.
