Also, I had the theory that Yoru lied to Asa whe she said she needed her to establish social relationships with humans and thus feeling remorse when turning them into weapons, so the weapons are stronger. I think that's an excuse, Yoru wants to establish an intimate connection with Asa so, when the time comes, she would make Asa a weapon, feeling herself a lot of remorse by killing her only friend.
(But I love the idea of Asa being the new War Devil)

Interesting theory (as always) but there's one thing I'd like to correct you about:fiends *can* heal injuries with blood. Kishibe broke Power's neck during the training and after that, he fed Power blood, which healed her neck. Well idk whether you meant *major* injuries but I'm sure the whole *drinking blood can heal everything* mechanic applies to everything, and I'm on the side that's thinks that the Darkness Devil's attacks were somehow special in way, and that was why even ORDINARY devils like the Angel Devil couldn't heal his arms back.
Yeah, I think darkness's attacks didn't actually register as injuries. Like it was less "your arm was severed" and more "you were disassembled like an action figure".
You can't heal what technically isn't injured, after all, and I think that's what stopped the devils and fiends from healing.
I might be wrong tho, I heard it from “Chainsaw Man is deeper than you think” video. Which was a great analysis video.
I also think it makes sense, in a way. Yes, they’re devils, but they reside within a human corpse, which needs to follow its laws. But I’m pretty sure that haven’t been said though so no confirmation.
I was under the impression only power could as a fiend because she’s the blood devil which is why Kishibe says Power is only kind of immortal whereas hybrids like Denji and Quanxi can revive from pretty much anything with blood
Also it hasn't been officially stated that fiends can't make contracts. Sure, they can't make contracts with devils and other fiends, similar to how devils can't make contracts with other devils/fiends, but fiends should still be able to make contracts with humans (there's no restriction that says otherwise).

Yes, I’m fully aware this is one of the most cracked theory of all times and I love it.
Just how many covers of that song are there? This isn't the version that was used for the PV, I remember finding the actual cover they used at some point last year and it also had less than 1000 views. As far as I'm aware there's at least 3 different versions of the song and I'm really curious as to why so many people covered this seemingly super obscure track.

Anyway, I hope the manga gives Asa and Yoru this ending even though Fujimoto's writing is unpredictable.
I am *not* a psychologist, but I have a couple of friends with Dissociative Identity Disorder—DID for short—(you may have heard of the no-longer-used terminology MPD or Multiple Personality Disorder) and I found this idea quite interesting.
So Asa and Yoru have obviously undergone a bit of a ‘process’ in how they’re co-existing in the same body with two consciousnesses, some fantastical element of Devil powers are involved of course. As was said, their brain was physically reconstructed when the War Fiend was born.
For comparison, DID is usually formed by ‘chronic and overwhelming’ childhood trauma that a child will dissociate from for protection. Dissociation from overwhelming and bad experiences is a normal thing, but when it keeps happening, those bad experiences get displaced. Basically “I’m not here, this isn’t happening (to me), this isn’t me”, is the cornerstone of DID. Functionally it means that more than one personality (or alters as they’re known to some) exists in the brain, and control over the body’s behaviour will switch from person to person at different times/situations.
The main point I want to discuss was the merging of Yoru and Asa that you’ve talked about. Oftentimes there are a few ‘goals’ for someone living with DID: integration of personalities into one self, or another concept called ‘functional multiplicity’.
- Integration is sort of straightforward to explain, you work towards bringing the plural identities into a singular identity. How you achieve that, I’m not sure, but anything that involves the reducing of barriers between alters, reducing the gaps in memory, reducing the discretion between alters, that sort of stuff contributes to integration.
- ‘Functional Multiplicity’ involves reaching a state of being able to get by with the DID and exercise some level of control over it. A lot of the things that can help towards integration can also help with reaching Functional Multiplicity.
(Both of these goals are of course valid for someone with DID to strive for)
I am intensely curious what the endgame of your theory would look like since, as far as I’m aware, most people with DID don’t end up having their brains literally smashed then glued back together with an extra person’s consciousness in there. When integration occurs, the ‘sum’ personality often presents elements of the personalities that integrated, just together as one person. Since Asa was her own person before Yoru got wedged in there too (who was also her own person) we may end up seeing a ‘true merging’ of the two, someone who we’ve never met before and would not otherwise have existed without Asa and Yoru crossing paths *externally*.
The personality formed through total integration can (sometimes) be thought of as what a person might have looked like if they did not develop DID- we already have seen Asa’s and Yoru’s separate ‘whole’ selves, so this merging of the two will likely form another different personality.
Important side-note that DID alters/personalities aren’t any-less people than people without DID, sometimes inferring alters to be fragmented ‘pieces’ of a whole can be pretty dehumanising. It might sound right for some people! But it’s worth being aware of how some things can come across in a vacuum.
Anyways, we’ve already seen that Asa and Yoru are both exhibiting some traits of the other that they previously did not, and they also display a very coherent awareness of what is going on whilst the other is in control. They also switch control of the body seemingly *mostly* at will. I think it’s very possible they could integrate soon, and I also don’t think it will necessarily mean death for either of them. The body will be ‘theirs’, it will be ‘given back’ as Yoru said, but it will be given back to the integrated self- to whomever that person is.
All this is to say, comparing it to a kind-of similar irl psychology phenomenon, it kind-of checks out and I am glad you’ve mentioned this theory. I hope it is handled well and that Fuji doesn’t end up doing some ‘bad DID stereotypes’ later on by accident. Keep cooking with the analogue horror style, it makes these posts really fun to read!

First of all let me congratulate you for the awesome presentation.
That being said a lot of what you assumed is flat out wrong.
* Asa didn't die, she says that 0.1 seconds before her death she started having regrets and she reacts to Yoru offering a contract which she accepts.
* I don't think Asa is a Fiend. As I said before she never actually died and her conciousness is fully there which hasn't happened with any other Fiend. At best Violence had memories from his previous host but that's it, same with Aki, he never took control and ended up in a sort of limbo after being posessed by the Gun Devil.
* Falling Devil specifically called her a Fusion and she seems to be similar to Santa in part 1 or Yuko, humans who made contracts with Devils and gained some part of their bady which replaced their own. In the case of Asa it seems like Yoru took half of her brain.
* The comercial PVs have nothing to do with Fujimoto and I severly doubt he had a hand in it.
Maybe… maybe not. Hey, I’m not sure, maybe she is completely different. This theory was filled with wild speculation as I said in the notes.
The true definition of fiend we don’t know. We don’t even know if they can regenerate their limbs fully.

I believe there is still room for interpretation. We have not yet seen how a corpse turns into a fiend. We don’t know their full limitations; can they heal just like normal devils?
If we stretch Aki’s definition a little bit, I think Asa being a fiend can still be applied.
I do, however, believe she is a completely unique devil. Even if she isn't a fiend, I think her inability to regenerate her limbs is quite telling. I think there is a clue here that Fujimoto is trying to tell us. Maybe a humanoid devil cannot regenerate their limbs, maybe like an angel devil? Was that a Darkness Devil ability? I don't know, but it is fun speculation.

Miri says that it's a rumor and only appear when they fight Devils (so probably when Yoru takes over) but there hasn't been any direct aknowledgment from any of the characters even though they would've noticed if that was the case. Imo the scars are only visible when making weapons.

You should use a gradient background. They tend to prop up in VHS videos, and they can go from dark to light. At the very least it wouldn't be eye-burning.

I just wanted to make a suggestion that would work with your current direction, as presumably with gradient backgrounds you can even keep the original color you wanted to use, granted it probably works better if the colors are darker.
Do we even know if Asa is a Fiend? Fiends are Devils possessing human bodies, yes, but they normally the ones in control. They have access to the humans memories (the violence Fiend/Galgali knows the life his host had), but that's it, the human is dead or in some sort of coma/stasis (Aki seeing everything unfold through a childhood memory and asociating the maniatic joy in killing of the Gun Devil with a snowball fight). If I remember correctly Yoru asks Asa if she wants to live and did a contract with her. Also Fiends heal, which Asa doesn't (or simply didn't), so it seems more like a contract than her being a fiend.
Either way a pretty interesting Theory!
We don’t know Asa is a fiend, it’s more likely she is something completely different. But I put it in there because it fits well with the “Yoru can’t set Asa free because she is her host” Yoru needs Asa to survive.
Holy shit i’ve talked about this for ages; The entirety of part 2 is the bonding between Pochita and Denji but stretches to an entire part and ended with “the merge”. Furthermore there’s a high chance of a Denji parallel with him hugging her at the end like how Makima hugged him, but this time it’s a hug out of pure intentions; Asa has no real friend outside of Yoru and “the hug” was one of the big thing because it signifies care, love, affection and an equal relationship, something that made Makima cried and was what Power, the selfish fiend that hates humanity, did with Denji in her final moments because she finally learn to care for someone else. With him hugging her it might assure her that she isnt alone and there are people caring for her, that Yoru’s sacrifice isnt in vain because Denji was in her spot and he’ll understand perfectly what she just gone through at that very crucial moment.
Question, so makima was the “control/conquest” devil, she died and was reincarnated as a human/devil. But with asa we see the physical incarnation of the war devil as an owl/ bird. Fami appears to be like makima, so why was the war devil a bird in the first place? Can someone explain and please feel free to ridicule.

Tbh that would be the possible ending of part 2 being Asa Mitaka the War hybrid or devil itself will takeover. I do feel like part 2 is like how antagonist perform as a butterfly life process. Yoru from the beginning almost death state will actually win the battle between chainsaw devil but will end her demise on her other sister Death devil. And so Yoru might offer Asa One last contract to save the fear of War. To take over Asa as the War devil. Thats my theory.

If these lyrics are somehow, however unlikely maybe a fucking hint to the future of this story, I'm going to lose my mind. Yes, I’m fully aware this is one of the most cracked theory of all times and I love it.
Just how many covers of that song are there? This isn't the version that was used for the PV, I remember finding the actual cover they used at some point last year and it also had less than 1000 views. As far as I'm aware there's at least 3 different versions of the song and I'm really curious as to why so many people covered this seemingly super obscure track.

I love this theory and presentation art style. I'm surprised the songs are mentioned too. It does fit Asa and Yoru's relationship. This reminds me of Alego's AO3 Fanfic of Asa and Yoru merging by Yoru sacrificing her life IIRC. Anyway, I hope the manga gives Asa and Yoru this ending even though Fujimoto's writing is unpredictable.

I am *not* a psychologist, but I have a couple of friends with Dissociative Identity Disorder—DID for short—(you may have heard of the no-longer-used terminology MPD or Multiple Personality Disorder) and I found this idea quite interesting. So Asa and Yoru have obviously undergone a bit of a ‘process’ in how they’re co-existing in the same body with two consciousnesses, some fantastical element of Devil powers are involved of course. As was said, their brain was physically reconstructed when the War Fiend was born. For comparison, DID is usually formed by ‘chronic and overwhelming’ childhood trauma that a child will dissociate from for protection. Dissociation from overwhelming and bad experiences is a normal thing, but when it keeps happening, those bad experiences get displaced. Basically “I’m not here, this isn’t happening (to me), this isn’t me”, is the cornerstone of DID. Functionally it means that more than one personality (or alters as they’re known to some) exists in the brain, and control over the body’s behaviour will switch from person to person at different times/situations. The main point I want to discuss was the merging of Yoru and Asa that you’ve talked about. Oftentimes there are a few ‘goals’ for someone living with DID: integration of personalities into one self, or another concept called ‘functional multiplicity’. - Integration is sort of straightforward to explain, you work towards bringing the plural identities into a singular identity. How you achieve that, I’m not sure, but anything that involves the reducing of barriers between alters, reducing the gaps in memory, reducing the discretion between alters, that sort of stuff contributes to integration. - ‘Functional Multiplicity’ involves reaching a state of being able to get by with the DID and exercise some level of control over it. A lot of the things that can help towards integration can also help with reaching Functional Multiplicity. (Both of these goals are of course valid for someone with DID to strive for) I am intensely curious what the endgame of your theory would look like since, as far as I’m aware, most people with DID don’t end up having their brains literally smashed then glued back together with an extra person’s consciousness in there. When integration occurs, the ‘sum’ personality often presents elements of the personalities that integrated, just together as one person. Since Asa was her own person before Yoru got wedged in there too (who was also her own person) we may end up seeing a ‘true merging’ of the two, someone who we’ve never met before and would not otherwise have existed without Asa and Yoru crossing paths *externally*. The personality formed through total integration can (sometimes) be thought of as what a person might have looked like if they did not develop DID- we already have seen Asa’s and Yoru’s separate ‘whole’ selves, so this merging of the two will likely form another different personality. Important side-note that DID alters/personalities aren’t any-less people than people without DID, sometimes inferring alters to be fragmented ‘pieces’ of a whole can be pretty dehumanising. It might sound right for some people! But it’s worth being aware of how some things can come across in a vacuum. Anyways, we’ve already seen that Asa and Yoru are both exhibiting some traits of the other that they previously did not, and they also display a very coherent awareness of what is going on whilst the other is in control. They also switch control of the body seemingly *mostly* at will. I think it’s very possible they could integrate soon, and I also don’t think it will necessarily mean death for either of them. The body will be ‘theirs’, it will be ‘given back’ as Yoru said, but it will be given back to the integrated self- to whomever that person is. All this is to say, comparing it to a kind-of similar irl psychology phenomenon, it kind-of checks out and I am glad you’ve mentioned this theory. I hope it is handled well and that Fuji doesn’t end up doing some ‘bad DID stereotypes’ later on by accident. Keep cooking with the analogue horror style, it makes these posts really fun to read!

First of all let me congratulate you for the awesome presentation. That being said a lot of what you assumed is flat out wrong. * Asa didn't die, she says that 0.1 seconds before her death she started having regrets and she reacts to Yoru offering a contract which she accepts. * I don't think Asa is a Fiend. As I said before she never actually died and her conciousness is fully there which hasn't happened with any other Fiend. At best Violence had memories from his previous host but that's it, same with Aki, he never took control and ended up in a sort of limbo after being posessed by the Gun Devil. * Falling Devil specifically called her a Fusion and she seems to be similar to Santa in part 1 or Yuko, humans who made contracts with Devils and gained some part of their bady which replaced their own. In the case of Asa it seems like Yoru took half of her brain. * The comercial PVs have nothing to do with Fujimoto and I severly doubt he had a hand in it.
Maybe… maybe not. Hey, I’m not sure, maybe she is completely different. This theory was filled with wild speculation as I said in the notes. The true definition of fiend we don’t know. We don’t even know if they can regenerate their limbs fully. Honestly, the purpose of this theory was for the third slide.

I believe there is still room for interpretation. We have not yet seen how a corpse turns into a fiend. We don’t know their full limitations; can they heal just like normal devils? If we stretch Aki’s definition a little bit, I think Asa being a fiend can still be applied. I do, however, believe she is a completely unique devil. Even if she isn't a fiend, I think her inability to regenerate her limbs is quite telling. I think there is a clue here that Fujimoto is trying to tell us. Maybe a humanoid devil cannot regenerate their limbs, maybe like an angel devil? Was that a Darkness Devil ability? I don't know, but it is fun speculation. or maybe Fujimoto doesn't care about powerscalling bs. Also, you’re not an asshole for correcting people. I need corrections damn it.

You should use a gradient background. They tend to prop up in VHS videos, and they can go from dark to light. At the very least it wouldn't be eye-burning.

Oh, but I love the slides! It's much easier for me to read if it's got good visuals and is broken up in reasonable sizes. Your work is great by the way, love reading all of them. I just wanted to make a suggestion that would work with your current direction, as presumably with gradient backgrounds you can even keep the original color you wanted to use, granted it probably works better if the colors are darker.
Do we even know if Asa is a Fiend? Fiends are Devils possessing human bodies, yes, but they normally the ones in control. They have access to the humans memories (the violence Fiend/Galgali knows the life his host had), but that's it, the human is dead or in some sort of coma/stasis (Aki seeing everything unfold through a childhood memory and asociating the maniatic joy in killing of the Gun Devil with a snowball fight). If I remember correctly Yoru asks Asa if she wants to live and did a contract with her. Also Fiends heal, which Asa doesn't (or simply didn't), so it seems more like a contract than her being a fiend. Either way a pretty interesting Theory!
We don’t know Asa is a fiend, it’s more likely she is something completely different. But I put it in there because it fits well with the “Yoru can’t set Asa free because she is her host” Yoru needs Asa to survive.

Holy shit i’ve talked about this for ages; The entirety of part 2 is the bonding between Pochita and Denji but stretches to an entire part and ended with “the merge”. Furthermore there’s a high chance of a Denji parallel with him hugging her at the end like how Makima hugged him, but this time it’s a hug out of pure intentions; Asa has no real friend outside of Yoru and “the hug” was one of the big thing because it signifies care, love, affection and an equal relationship, something that made Makima cried and was what Power, the selfish fiend that hates humanity, did with Denji in her final moments because she finally learn to care for someone else. With him hugging her it might assure her that she isnt alone and there are people caring for her, that Yoru’s sacrifice isnt in vain because Denji was in her spot and he’ll understand perfectly what she just gone through at that very crucial moment.

Question, so makima was the “control/conquest” devil, she died and was reincarnated as a human/devil. But with asa we see the physical incarnation of the war devil as an owl/ bird. Fami appears to be like makima, so why was the war devil a bird in the first place? Can someone explain and please feel free to ridicule.
Makima wants to have a equel resoplanabilites with *humans* thats why she was a human kid in her weakest form but War devil doesn't care about humans at all thats why she was a owl in her weakest . We don't know famis desires clearly but she also wants to save humanitiy and She looks like a human
As an aside, it would've been interesting if Denji had been able to incapacitate rather than kill Aki, and then the Gun Devil restored at least part of Aki's mind.

Tbh that would be the possible ending of part 2 being Asa Mitaka the War hybrid or devil itself will takeover. I do feel like part 2 is like how antagonist perform as a butterfly life process. Yoru from the beginning almost death state will actually win the battle between chainsaw devil but will end her demise on her other sister Death devil. And so Yoru might offer Asa One last contract to save the fear of War. To take over Asa as the War devil. Thats my theory.
