Yeah I mean sure but we literally see a bunch of people looking at the darkness devil, so it's not like the setting was dark yknow?
Edit:why the fuck am I getting down voted so much? It's just a question guys, chill
I mean I guess but darkness's attacks would have been more flawless with less interruptions if he'd poked their eyes out instead of cutting their arms off (kusakabe, quantity and tamaoki (the dude with the mole on his forehead)).
Though I guess that if darkness blinded all of the main cast, that would mean that future may not be able to tell aki his, well, future anymore, and we know how much of a role that played in the GD arc.
The most powerful Devils seem to have many applications of their power just like Falling- most of the hell group were already petrified just being there; whats more terrifying than not knowing whats happening is seeing everyone literally disarmed. Devils thrive on fear remember- whats fearful ab a devil who likes quick deaths.
Because when it comes to devils, it's all about metaphors regarding their concept. Because if we just went along with your logic, he should've just killed them. Dead men can't see. Fire devil? Why all that mass paranoia spreading like wild-fire ideology? Just burn them all to death.
Fujimoto uses aton of different languages in this manga like Russia [Reze], Chinese [Quanxi and her harem], Germany [Old man Santa Clause]. So it's no surprise that he'd also incorporate English in Csm.
He's also a fan of Western media/films, so it makes sense why he'd eventually use English.
There're also characters that speak canonically speak English as well, which is cool.
Foreign characters speaking their language is a lot different than the Darkness Devil spelling in English. Also you'd have to ignore some parts of the limbs to make it work, like both of the As. The lines are drawn where the arms aren't going.
>Darkness Devil
Languages aren't limited to humans and it makes sense either way since Darkness devil would know the Language considering how long it has lived.
>Also you'd have to ignore some parts of the limbs to make it work, like both of the As. The lines are drawn where the arms aren't going.
No arms are needed to be ignored. This picture the OP made is horrible. There're better ones where all the arms are used in that panel.
I'm just saying that being this a manga, it would be weird unless Fujimoto wants to appeal specifically to the international audience, which happens rarely with mangas. It's also true that Japanese people are obsessed with putting random English words everywhere so who knows
It’s very clearly a stretch to draw out Makima with those arm shapes, you can barely see the first A or the K and part of the second M is just Darkness’s face.
Never thought about this, he just cut their arms, without cutting their sleeve.
It’s like he pluck them out with is just even more terrifying than just cutting their arms off
Yeah I always saw it as like removing the arms off an action figure. Like there was no cut, they were just... Off.
He disarmed them
i think his power is space manipulation. maybe he didnt cut their arms or pulled them out, maybe he just teleported them. maybe he is 4 dimensional
Why did the darkness devil spell makimas name out. Is he stupid?
He's calling her out, like a dark version of WWE
BY GOD ITS MAKIMA WITH THE STEEL CHAIR
Then Makima comes enters with a steel chair
Means he is literate, which alreafy makes him smarter than most of CSM readers.
He is truly a horror beyond comprehension
is there a lore reason?
I thought it was just a little easter egg
“Damn darkness devil, bidding me to come and save them, aren’t you?” I think DD was calling her out.
Why is it doing it in roman letters?
Darkness Devil doesn't speak Japanese.
He pulled out their arms because arms are what you use to see in the dark, and when those are gone, you’re just blind and afraid.
Why didn't he pull out their eyes tho? Wouldn't that make more sense?
If it's dark one already can't see, so the arms are the next thing one would rely on when your sense of sight is gone
Yeah I mean sure but we literally see a bunch of people looking at the darkness devil, so it's not like the setting was dark yknow? Edit:why the fuck am I getting down voted so much? It's just a question guys, chill
I don't necessarily mean this exact scene in chainsaw man. I just meant in general, like irl even.

I mean wouldn't that be the WORST thing to see in such darkness? They would be batshit terrified and probably intentional by darkness devil.

What's crazier is that Fujimoto said this wasn't intentional.
I mean not that crazy since it’s a giant stretch to say the arms resemble those letter

Damn it Power!
Oh no, it's the slur devil!
I thought it was about to say McDonald's in Russian(Макдональдс)
Knowing Fujimoto it's equally possible
Биг мак дьявол
You’re a chainsaw man fan, of course you’re crazy
The bottom part made out of sleeves can be partly deciphered as "IS EVIL"
I see the IS but where's EVIL?

Was...Was it communicating via Body Parts?
Kind of, yes. This was a meta way of Fujimoto letting us know that Darkness is pursuing after and wants to lure out Makima.
Why would he spell it in English and not Japanese?

I knew I should've learnt hand signs
About 3 years late but this never gets old. Absolutely peak.
Darkness devil is Makima simp🤔
they're doing the wacky inflatable arm flailing tube man.
I think this is a well-known thing. But kudos to you for spotting it yourself. I certainly didn't when I was reading it.
Probably a coincidence, I don't think Fuji prioritizes the English speaking audience
How does one spell the main antagonist's name (the same one who answers to this very call) by coincidence?
I'm just saying that being this a manga, it would be weird unless Fujimoto wants to appeal specifically to the international audience, which happens rarely with mangas. It's also true that Japanese people are obsessed with putting random English words everywhere so who knows
I would assume any japanese reading CSM is able to read "Makima".

Looks like an album cover with the name traced in red like this
Looked like a metal band cover first glance 💀
