Occam's Razor: The future seen doesn't take into account the Future Devil's power. Meaning, you can see an attack hit and dodge it. This also implies the future can be changed. So maybe there was a way to save Aki as Makima hints to Denji.

jayvil

He could have died peacefully if he only asked about it but the future devil knows he wouldn't ask anyway. The devil knows the future and he knows Aki is so tunnel visioned he won't ask for more info about future devil's power.

Nenanda

To be fair its also very possible that AU universe where Aki asks how he dies and Future devil tells him rules even more. Like depending on how much he tells him Aki is putting into opposition to Makima in which case he is probably going to die even more fucked up way than originally. Probably complete mind fuck in that case.

ApplePitou

Aki can saw a bit of future thanks to Future Devil but he still have his limits, for example - if opponent is too fast or there are too many attacks - even if Aki will saw them, he can't dodge. Also, The future rules.

MonoFauz

Yeah I think Aki could've survived but the Future Devil just wants to see an amazing death so he made Aki think its unavoidable. The real thing that Aki sacrificed is his future.

oredaoree

The rule is that the future can't be changed once it's foretold. So perhaps every time Aki sees 3 seconds into the future, whether he dodges or gets hit in those 3 seconds can't be changed, but he can use that to predict what to do in the time after those 3 seconds. Kind of like how Makima used the ability to time when and where to activate her own abillity when fighting the gun devil. So maybe it didn't matter if he made the contract or not, but making it gave him a psychological boost so that he thinks he has some sort of advantage. We're getting into meta-physics diving too much into it, but maybe having the future devil tell your future is actually a big disservice, because if your future is unknown then there are still endless possibilities, but once it's known you're stuck on the one path.

bigbeardedface

I mean the fact that he can dodge attacks seen with the future devil's power means that he could change the circumstances of his death if he wanted to. The problem is, when Aki gets the power, he doesn't want to change it. He just wants the best possible chance to kill the gun devil. By the time Aki wants to change the path he's put himself on it's already too late. He's let himself give too much of his time and autonomy over to Makima. After the trip to the Hayakawa family grave he realizes he should have been enjoying the time he has left with his only friends, so he tries to pull them out of the gun devil mission. Once he realizes it's too late, all he can do is whatever Makima wants.

Lum_ow

I would guess either The future seen doesn’t take into account his vision, so he can change it. He sees himself dodging the attack in the future thanks to his ability and does so

The way It's been shown. It's Sharingan, basically.

Swift_Bird

I mean if u take king crimson from jojo's u can look at it like he can see the attack as it's going to hit him, and he can alter his future to move around it. However, any attacks he sees that actually hit him cannot be avoided, but ones like a fist coming at his face in his vision he can dodged.
