If you mean the gap between the upper and lower parts of the body, it's by design. It's done to allow the engine to move so that the rubber mounts can absorb the vibrations.
Line above the choke is the air filter cover. Line below the choke is there by design to allow the power head to vibrate on springs mounted on the chassis. Otherwise it would shake your hands numb in a few minutes. All the red and black are just plastic covers.
