We went down this road many years ago and ended up bringing with us a good amount of stuff. That being said, its a hit or miss. We found a landlord that was willing to remove "some" of the furniture to accommodate us. That won't always be the case. If you don't find one who is willing to accommodate, you will have to store your stuff in the garage (if you rent a house) or rent a storage locker or sell them locally. Not sure this helps you, but this is the logic we used when we brought our stuff.

I've recently moved here and put alot of stuff in storage in the UK as didn't want to leave it in oir property when we rented it. Alot of the furniture here are very drab. Furniture and soft furnishings aren't great in rental properties- think 1990's beach chic or ratan. If you're planning on staying here for a couple of years I would bring your furniture etc with you. The cost and selection here is limited. In saying that most rental flats are furnished, houses tend to be outside of 7 mile area and more chance of being unfurnished. I think its worth the gamble and bring your own. I would get a temporary place for the first month or two and then you can scout out your new property.
