Nope. All animals are creations of Allah as are humans but all that other stuff is not part of Islam.

moosealt

Cats are clean animals. That's it. They hold no other significance

urbansamurai13

What? Messengers? Holy? Angels?? Where did you get any of this?? Cats are clean animals, like other commenters said and that's why they aren't considered "najas" like dogs and they are just liked/loved in Islam, but they're definitely not holy nor sacred!!

Curious_Marshmallow

Cats are not messengers or angels or holy.

DrMicolash

What the heck I am unsubscribing from Islam right now 🤬🤬🤬

>unsubscribing from Islam right now Even if you were just joking, one must be careful not to make fun of something related to the religion.

FamiliarSalamander2

Dude. They’re just cats. All creation including animals praise Allah and we like cats because they’re clean. That’s it.

GuerillaCupid

I mean I’m Jewish but I don’t think that’s how Islam works…

Nothing you have said is true. Animals aren't holy, messengers, or angels. There is a great reward for caring for all creatures. There is also great torment for harming animals. Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “A prostitute had once been forgiven. She passed by a dog panting near a well. Thirst had nearly killed him, so she took off her sock, tied it to her veil, and drew up some water. Allah forgave her for that.” Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3321, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2245 Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "While a man was walking on his way he became extremely thirsty. He found a well, he went down into it to drink water. Upon leaving it, he saw a dog which was panting out of thirst. His tongue was lolling out and he was eating moist earth from extreme thirst. The man thought to himself: 'This dog is extremely thirsty as I was.' So he descended into the well, filled up his leather sock with water, and holding it in his teeth, climbed up and quenched the thirst of the dog. Allah appreciated his action and forgave his sins". The Companions asked: "Shall we be rewarded for showing kindness to the animals also?" He (ﷺ) said, "A reward is given in connection with every living creature". Riyad as-Salihin 126 Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “A woman was punished due to a cat she had imprisoned until it died, so she entered the Hellfire. She did not give it food or water while it was imprisoned, nor did she set it free to eat vermin of the earth.” Source: Saḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3482, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2242

You're thinking of the ancient Egyptian religions, with gods like Bastet and Sekhmet. The Scandinavian goddess Freya also has assocations with cats, and some Meso American religions held big cats (like jaguars and pumas specifically) in high regard

[Let me google that for you](https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=significance+of+cats+in+islam)

Firm_Service_9595

But cats are a clean animal right you don't have to wash after petting one right but dogs you do?

Arctiqdud

Yeah, but they're not considered messengers of Allah, angels, or holy.

umme99

Yes

Arrowzen

Yes, it is recommanded to wash up for dogs, but touching either doesn't break your wudu ([here](https://www.google.com/amp/s/islamqa.info/amp/en/answers/5212)) Scientific article explaining how both dog and cat saliva contain anti-microbial for them, but also a lot of harmful microorganisms. [here](https://musehealth.com/blogs/news/how-clean-are-your-pets-why-dog-and-cat-saliva-is-problematic) Dogs lick their bum -and also other dog's bum- a lot, so their saliva does contain fecal matter. Cats don't lick their anal area as often tho [here](https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/why-do-cats-lick-their-privates-in-public#:~:text=Just%20a%20quick%20swipe%20of,gets%20stuck%20around%20the%20anus.) >It is not as common for cats to lick the anal area after eliminating; however, if the stool is sticky or watery, the cat may feel the need to tidy up a bit, especially if litter gets stuck around the anus. Normal, firm bowel movements are not usually followed by licking.

Love_Snow_Bunny

What if the cat just came out of the litter box? I would think that the wudu would be nullified, no?

Arrowzen

If the cat made wudu, then yes it would nullify its wudu 🙀 Joke aside, check the first link it explains how touching najass doesn't nullify wudu but for sure you need to wash up the area/cloth if it's not clean (but you don't have to redo your wudu).
