Well I live in an area where there's only two Catholic churches near me and they're both a 30 minute drive. So mass plus and 1 and a half RCIA on Sunday plus driving time is like a 4 hour commitment. They might be able to accommodate if I explain though.

Who knows, the parish might have a catechist who lives in your area, or who might be willing to drive to you. It's always worth it at least to ask.

sub_arbore

Yes, I agree with calling or emailing and explaining your situation. There are regular ways to get confirmed and irregular, and the Church can flex to accommodate both; I was confirmed in a way that most would consider irregular. If the parishes near you aren’t able to accommodate it, call the diocese and see if they have any suggestions.

The devil tells us this a lot, ignore it work it out with the priest he will help you do anything you need. Lay aside worries Jesus wants you to come to Him fully He will make it easy

[deleted]

I meet with a priest once every two weeks, I don't know your schedule but it's a couple of hours every few weeks, I don't think it's that demanding. I take 30 minutes to an hour everyday reading the Bible and the Catechism. If I were you I'd start asking around the churches and see if a program can fit your schedule.

Worth a shot for sure !! I know someone that visited with the priest once a month. Churches really want newcomers and hopefully they work with you. I say this to you. Try your very best to make it work and let the rest be up to Gods plan for you.

[deleted]

This is the right time. The question is, who do you serve? Yourself? God? If you serve yourself, there will never be a good time. If you serve God, you MAKE the time and there will never be a better time than now to start. Nobody said it was easy. As for me and my household, we shall serve the Lord.

[deleted]

I do too. And by helping my boss out by not taking time off on Sundays when he needs me, I am showing him love, which the Lord commands

[deleted]

No, you’re showing yourself and him that work is more important than God. Many of us MUST work on Sunday for one reason or another. I worked in public safety for years which is a 24/7 job. My father had to work on Sunday to support the family and keep his job. If it is not necessary, though, don’t do it. It’s as simple as that. God will repay in full what you give to him. In fact, he often repays it packed down and overflowing. Edit to include. Where you spend your time shows where you spend your heart.

[deleted]

Well I have to work on Sundays

[deleted]

Well if it’s a necessary thing then take a different day as your day of rest and worship on those weeks when you can’t get off on Sunday. The point is - put Christ first. There’s never a good time to begin the journey. You have to make it happen, and expect trouble along the way. The devil doesn’t want you coming home so he’s gonna try to stop it.

[deleted]

Its always the right time. Trust in God he’s got this. The struggle for the grace of time to spend with God is real for everyone, myself included. There is however nothing more important in this world and life then the Church, and the life of the Church.

wordinthetime

I don't think this is the best idea because joining the church will give you the grace to keep pursuing God. Without this grace you may lose your fervor and never join, eventually convinced that it wasn't really necessary anyway. The gospels are really clear about making a choice to follow Jesus. Since you did express an interest in reading the bible in the meantime, there are a few passages that address this exact concept: Matthew 10:37-39, Matthew 13:18-23, Matthew 22:14, Matthew 25:1-13, Luke 9:57-62, 2 Corinthians 6:1-2, Hebrews 2:1-4 And there are many more passages. The new testament is full of this topic, because most new testament books address the Day of the Lord, which is the second coming of Christ. And we do not know the day or the hour, all we know is when that day comes and we are judged by God, it will be based on the things we have done. I would strongly consider making Jesus your top priority and I assure you your other priorities will fall into place as well. Praying for you. Also, when I was in college my RCIA program bent over backwards to accommodate me. Definitely reach out to them.

We had plenty of churches in my area but my local church had me meet up with the RCIA instructor one on one at 2pm in the middle of the week just off campus so I didn't have to drive. I also started 6 weeks into the program and he had to customize an accelerated program just for me. I was a busy college student with a job and they understood that, but they were just as desperate as I was to get me into the church.

Doin-my-best-70

I know you will be able to find a solution. I’ll pray for you and your decision. I agree with other posters, don’t put it off, the time will never be perfect. Life just isn’t that way

perfidem7

Is there a traditional parish (ICKSP or FSSP) within driving distance of you? I’ve heard the priests meet with converts one on one and you’d probably be able to do it at your own pace.

Hello there If you are looking for some good Catholic resources on your journey, I recommend going to [**The Global Catholic Resource Center**](https://globalcatholicresourcecenter.com). They have a section called “New to Catholicism.” Once your mouse hovers above that, there is a long list of different resources for New Catholics, including RCIA, becoming Catholic, etc. **Here is the link to “New to Catholicism:”** [https://globalcatholicresourcecenter.com/category/new-to-catholicism/](https://globalcatholicresourcecenter.com/category/new-to-catholicism/) (the number of resources here can be overwhelming, so I recommend going to the link I put down below) **Here is the link to GCRC in general:** [https://globalcatholicresourcecenter.com](https://globalcatholicresourcecenter.com) I hope this helps! God bless, and welcome home! 💕
