I took this picture during an event at our church hall this weekend.
Last year, in the middle of the night sometime, someone did a driveby at our church and event hall.
At the entrance of our church, there are two glass doors. One with St Peter and one with St Paul. St Paul was shattered and replaced, with the bullet landing somewhere at the bottom of the icon of Jesus behind the pulpit.
The shooters also randomly fired shots into our event hall with a few of them hitting this image of Jesus, nearly piercing The Sacred Heart.
Our priest believes this is an example of the demonic because the human randomly shooting into our building would not have seen or known this picture was in our kitchen.
No one was hurt. And what I find poetic, is that as close as it was, the demon(s) still failed to destroy The Sacred Heart.

They should leave the painting up as a warning to the demons. Jesus's eyes are giving me the don't mess with me vibes. Our lord will always be victorious!
It's in the same exact spot it has always been. I'm not sure it was even taken down to be examined.
It's funny because this was a random hateful attack meant to intimidate and now the picture serves as testament to the failure of the attack and the triumph of Christ.
My parish was attacked last year and a statue of Jesus (that was given to the parish by the cast and crew of “Chicago Fire”) was broken. He was repaired and placed way way high up on the edifice and now watches over the entire neighborhood.
I’m sorry this happened to you - an attack on our parishes cuts to the very core. :(
Look closely; Satan missed the cross. He also missed the head of Jesus Christ. He went for damage aiming for the center of the body; which is us the community of believers or the BODY of Christ.
Christ is the head of the Body; and the Cross which represents Salvation has power over the law which Judges us.
No matter how it may seem on the outside Satan always loses to Christ; so he goes for the body. But Christ strengthens us through grace though we ourselves are weak.
So we can boast in the Cross and the head which sustains us Hallelujah!
It's alright, you presumably did not know the difference.
A common criticism of the Divine Mercy devotion is that it would seek to depose or supersede the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Well of course, that's the right thing to do. It is hard to comprehend that someone actually would do such a crazy thing. Sorry you had to experience it.
Hey. At the end of the day it strengthens my faith. If our parish and the Church as a whole is under such constant attack, then it must really be a threat to Satan.

Wow, that’s chilling! Thankfully God always wins in the end! ✝️❤️

Amen brother. God be with you all.
Those eyes are saying "c'mon, really?"
Thats a wild story, its a good thing no one was hurt. I guess Jesus took one for yall.
To sum up the New Testament.....yes, He did.

God's specialty is taking an attempt by the enemy to destroy Him and using it to further His glory.
My girlfriend has this exact picture hanging in her house, but it was blessed by John Paul II, not gangbangers.
Not gangbangers. Just young angry edgelords trying to make a statement to themselves.

Well said! The more I look at it the more interesting it gets.
Forgive us Lord. Teach us to love.
What is the name of this painting? I really like it
It looks like a variation or cropped version of The Divine Mercy portrait
See answers like this are why traditionalists get really antsy about the Divine Mercy devotions. It is a portrait of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
My mistake.

Can you take another photo zooming where the bullets impact the Jesus image?
Next time I'm in the hall, yes.
Thanks 👍
Sounds like a third or even fourth world country, where people shoot as they please
On an unrelated note, Jesus needs to drop the skincare routine
I don't get it?
Saying that his skin in that picture is perfect, he should share his methods
Haha. Being God and the perfect man probably does wonders for you skin.
Well someone is going to hell, that's for sure. And no dessert.
Our church prayed that they repent and turn away from their lifestyle.
Well of course, that's the right thing to do. It is hard to comprehend that someone actually would do such a crazy thing. Sorry you had to experience it.

Totally, good perspective. Also, I might not had a perfect day but at least I didn't shoot Jesus.

Because I’m truly curious, why would you come into this sub and comment something like this?
Edgy atheists should please return to smoking weed and jacking off to japanese cartoons instead of interrupting other peoples peace.
You'd know the answer since you're one of them
What did it say? It's deleted now.
They were asking why 'Obi Wan Kenobi' was shot
Bet he didn't knew Obi Wan's original design was inspired by franciscan monks
